....and down in Sussex :tw:

There anyone even being strongly linked? I know the crypto-bros said they were doing a “global search” or some shit like that but they’re taking their time.

At the back of my mind am very eager to see both these vacancies filled asap. This is just in case either of these clubs have cast an eye at what Andy Crosby did while filling in for DC and try to see if he fancies a permanent gig somewhere.

Kieran: Strongly linked...?

The bookies have Dave Artel as favourite but as I said three or four pages ago; why would he move all the way down here for the Crawley job?

The Athletic ran a piece where it claimed a "recruiter" working on behalf of Crawley approached Emma Hayes. As she turned down Wimbledon in league one as it was reportedly beneath the level she would want to work at. I cannot see how coming to league two Crawley could possibly be at her level....to be fair to Mrs Hayes she has a point. European football, top notch training facilities extra dosh for appearing as a talking head on the tv. Swap that for the Crawley gig? Fat chance.

A women will become the manager of a men's team sooner or later but if its league two level it will be a promotion from within. A female coach at the club getting the managers job when the previous man leaves (imho).

If the global bit does happen, a British coach with knowledge of league two would need to be included in which case why not just have the British coach?

I'm pretty sure it was known around these parts that she applied for the Bristol Rovers job when we were in L1. Cant remember if it was when Clarke left or Coughlan.
In hindsight anyone would have been better than Garner.. man, woman or circus clown.

Our Director of Football, Ben Chorley has resigned. That's a huge blow and I assume he'll be going to Charlton with Garner.

Straight away?

If one of the purposes of these DoFs is to provide continuity when managers are sacked or jump ship, then perhaps long notice periods are in order.

Chorley was absolutely key to everything behind the scenes, from sports science to scouting. There is no guarantee he'll go to Charlton, another rumour is to work with Wellens at Orient. But basically we're going to have to rip everything up and start again. Perhaps they aren't going to bother with a DOF and just go for an old fashioned dinosaur manager. It's like last season all over again, just when it looked like we were getting some stability at the club.

Yes this is true but given what we went through last season it finally looked like there was a bit of continuity and we could kick on from last season. This has certainly put us back. I'll wait to see who we bring in now, what the structure will be and what calibre of players we bring in before having a total benny about matters at STFC.

Is Garner still off then or is he waiting for a top 10 premier league club to give their manager the chop?

For reasons unknown, Wellens back to Swindon is gathering pace.

Not heard any concrete rumours, we have him on a 2 year deal so it will cost a decent amunt of compensation if he wants out.

Stranger things have happened, but it seems odd to me that all this is being discussed with Garner still at Swindon a week on from all these rumours starting!

Odd isn’t the word! Charlton say they should have their new man installed in a couple if weeks! They also aren’t in the market for a DoF!

Posted on Twitter was stepping down. Had been running our academy beforehand. Obviously am guessing people are just putting two and two together there but if someone was raiding our backroom staff there’d be a couple I’d be looking to first before got to Billy as much as I do like him.

I don't think there's anything in it,people are just clutching at straws because we still haven't a manager.

Kelty Hearts fella has resigned as well, wanting to go full time somewhere.

Paynter would be a horrific appointment, we'd be better off keeping Lee.

Aye am sure Billy isn’t in the running and as I say he’s a great guy and was a good player but if he was appointed you can’t see anything other than alarm bells ringing. I remember Hartlepool dragging it out between Challinor leaving and appointing Lee too. The only reason you’d really take this long is if were doing a restructuring with a DOF etc.
