They've had a small period when they achieved promotion to the premier league -- But lets not forget in the 60's & 70's them and their city rivals spent most of there time in the bottom two divisions. Sometimes bottom or nearly bottom of the bottom division.
We weren’t getting regular crowds of 17000 then though, plus the club had BPA and Northern to contend with. It’s more or less a totally different club now, what happens 50 years ago isn’t relevant today.

I struggle to see Bradford ever being established above L1 with the current ownership.

Any idea what he paid for the club, and did he ever put any funds in? I know he doesn’t now, which is fair enough because there’s absolutely no need to at this level if the clubs revenue was well spent. Which it obviously isn’t.

These names linked with Bradford ffs. Under the ownership they seem more likely to end up in the National League than League One.

Where do we think things stand with Lindsay and Andy Hessanthaler, because of Jake H? I assume SL and AH, and also Kenny Jackett are very close, but might the Jake situation have soured things?
The thing with Jake Hessanthaler had nothing to do with Lindsey. He was told when he joined he wouldn't be able to play him due to information that was unearthed during the investigation into Yems.

I have it on very good authority whoever doesn't pick Williamson is missing out and making a mistake. Yes he's not strange enough but great attacking football. Passing football. Proper football

No such thing as proper football.

There’s only winning football.

Man City are supposed to play proper football and it’s boring as shit to watch

Yeah awful viewing watching Man City play :dk: it's also happens to be winning football mostly due to all those goals they score and chances they create

Mr Brian Clough knew what proper football was.

Micky Mellon back in a job with 3 year deal at Oldham. Good luck to him. He should do well in the longer term and 4 lads he managed at Rovers in the current Latics squad. Would expect them to move up the table, but whether he can get them up this season is a harder call.

He's used to the pressure of having money to get teams up from that league, it's a great appointment to be fair to old Fred Dibnah.

I'd expect them to climb the table rapidly now and definitely finish in the playoffs.

A chance for Mellon to win the National League title again after taking over a club in October, as he famously did with Tranmere.

The clock must be ticking on Phil Hurst over at Grimsby.

It's either him or Graham Alexander next gone for sure.

I've long held the belief that Paul Hurst is a non-league manager. His record in the EFL, that one good season at Shrewsbury aside, is dreadful. He's not cut out for his level.

Colchester are a bizarre one. They have a talented group, but they just aren't getting results. Don't think Chilvers has scored yet has he and Tovide doesn't bag enough either. Taylor's now gone ice cold as well. Not a great combination.

Gillingham seem to be desperate for a new manager if today's shit show was anything to go by. Tranmere also, positive Nige isn't the answer, he's a motivational speaker, not a EFL coach of a relegation threatened team.

Alexander was a poor appointment from the start at MK. Doesn't suit the group of players they already had. Wood at Salford has been on a good run, so suspect he'll get more time. What about Coughlan at Newport? They are sliding badly, the goals/good play have dried up.

Could we be about to see an avalanche of sackings? Lots of strugglers could be about to make changes.

Salford's Nigel Woods next.
The Manc Simon Rusk. Let him be a lesson to lower league clubs to stop appointing PE teachers and expecting results in men’s football

Last time people (maybe we even yourself on the other forum?) said this we went and got promoted. I can't see our owners sacking Hurst any time soon and rightly so, in my opinion.

He is the great survivor Hurst isn't he, but him getting your lot promoted from here seems a big ask. I imagine he's still got enough credit in the bank to get to New Year.

Yeah it won't happen this season promotion. We're further off the pace than I was expecting, but I think that's a sign that the division is much stronger as I genuinely believe we have a stronger squad overall. And yep Hurst has got enough credit for me...if he's getting into the new year he may as well get until March time though for me. It's either end of November so a new manager can have December and the window or Hurst gets the window and the few months after. I'm surprised but not also surprised as it's Town that so many of our fans want him gone so soon into the season. As Forza says, we've done this before under Hurst...in fact it happens every season, even when we were consistently a top 5 team for 4 seasons in the Conference we had these dips.

This time feels like way more than a dip though, we’re playing dreadfully with much better players than before

I think the Grimsby posters got a little too excited at some pretty average recruitment this summer because it was done quickly and early.

A stronger squad on paper but significantly so? I do agree that the league is stronger though.

How’s Conteh been?

He’s the signing you made that I’d have liked.

I’m not sure, in Conteh, Eisa, Vernam, Rodgers and Rose we have much stronger players than we had before and certainly better than the current shower of shit performances we’ve produced.

Conteh started excellently but has leveled off a bit as we’ve got worse, Hurst has somehow coached his box to box style out of him within weeks.

The bit that’s unacceptable for me is how fucking boring it is every week, football surely isn’t supposed to be this hard to watch.

You only get away with boring football when you are winning games regularly, as soon as that stop it becomes very much highlighted and a big problem, quickly!

Can think of plenty of examples at Notts like that, Kevin Nolan being a prime example. Even when winning the football was very direct, agricultural, playing the percentages territory based.

Certainly doesn't help with attendances and attracting the floating fans.

Like many expected Grimsby to be doing a lot lot better than a lowly 18th, but then again a couple of sides always to seriously disappoint early doors.

Looks like Alexander is gone. Nothing official yet but journos on Twitter saying the players have already been told.
