There was a point a couple seasons ago where Bradford could almost field an 11 of former Scunny players, they've now appointed our former manager

They're clearly desperate to replicate all of our success and join us in the NLN

I would say it's funny, but Bradford do seem like a decent club with decent fans who are playing well below their level and are getting constant shite football delivered to them by clueless people at the top. I hope they're rid of Sparks sooner rather than later.

I don’t think it’s anywhere near as bad as an appointment as people are making it out to be.

2 promotions from this division followed by ridiculous sackings at Scunny & Salford. His recent jobs haven’t been great but even the MK Dons binning was probably a bit premature.

From the outside looking in, Bradford need somebody solid but unspectacular who knows the league & he fits that bill.

Get a grip. Essentially the same MK Dons team is now playing a progressive short passing game whereas under Alexander every pass was a 40 yard aimless punt forward. The sacking was at least two weeks too late, but I assume it took that long to tee up Williamson.

I've quickly Wiki'd David Healy, like all Grimsby fans have in the past half hour, and it would be an interesting appointment if it happens.

His record is great but hard to know how good he is really considering he's only ever managed in that league. Anyone who has managed over 400 games must have learnt a thing or 2 about management though.

Only one promotion from this division with big spending Fleetwood.

His other promotion was from the National League with a Salford side comfortably with the highest budget in the division that season.

I will take 40 yard punts up field and high pressure attacking football rather than the ridiculously boring sideways football endured under Hughes.

I for one am quite happy with the appointment.

Cowleys would have been my first choice, but Alexander have a similar record and higher win ratio I believe.

We’ll get behind him but suspect there’s a more than good chance we’ll be back in this thread in 18 months time.

I don’t get how Bradford fans were so happy when that dinosaur Hughes was appointed, but so down with this one.

Honestly, there is nothing remotely attacking or exciting about Alexander's "football".

His "football" may suit Bradford's players a bit more, but it's not going to be a pretty or fun watch.

Good luck though!

Personally I’m not one to get too up or down with any appointment, as anything can happen. But yes some of our lot have some next level Jekyll and Hyde syndrome.

The fans reaction is more related to the cynical and tiresome nature of following us over the last 20 years (The Parky years aside).

As someone alluded to previously, we're being led by donkeys at the top and until that changes we'll be hanging around here for a while.

I'm ambivalent to Alexander. Could be better, could be worse. What we're not though is a complex fanbase (demanding certainly and I'm sure some would say unrealistic) but all he needs to get us inside is;

1) Front foot football
2) High tempo/energy
3) Physicality and endeavour

As a fanbase we don't care for style (within reason) but what we don't want to watch is Hughes' 65% possession without a purpose. Give us 40% possession but with purpose, lots of shots and a few crunching tackles and we're happy. And that's what L2 requires.

Still have nightmares about the Barrow game from last season. Matty Platt and Sam Stubbs with more passes than the entire Barrow team.

They saw his name and forgot all objectivity. Basically the same reason that Sparks hired him.

Blimey, David Healy has found the time to manage over 400 games?! Assumed he must have only retired a couple of years ago, time flies.

Grezza must have serious drive, he's never out of the game for more than a month.

Seems a shite manager though.

As for David Healy, I hope he fails miserably and gets some sort of colon disease.

Was about to comment that David Healy has ruled himself out of our job but just realised the article is from 2018, don't even remember that happening.

Have heard the deal might be derailed though because Notts are set to offer him a three month contract to shore up their attacking options.

You might be right, but he doesn’t have the worst CV.

Promotions with Salford and Fleetwood at the time seemed like a formality with their financial clout at those respective levels though. Not sure about the Motherwell achievement, they finished 3rd the other season.

He seemed to do alright with Scunthorpe though.

L2 is probably his level.
