A number of sides towards the bottom seem to be sacking their managers and getting good, experienced replacements in. Maybe we should take note before we get cut adrift.

Very interested for the game a week on Saturday. There's definitely some bad blood between Bell and Artell after how it ended for Artell here. Especially given the two weren't on speaking terms in the final weeks of DAs reign. I'm sure a few of our players will really want to get one over on him too after what went on in that final season.

Grimsby are a good club and, despite their perennial underachievement over the last two decades, I wouldn't call them a basket case. It's a club that has potential but no one has unlocked it. If Artell is the man to unlock it then I wish him all the best. He had to go when he did but being involved in two promotions with us will always make him a club legend here.

Now if he can take BSD, Regan Griffiths and Dave Richards off our payroll in January that'll do us a favour. Seemed to be the only manager in England who rated those three...

Can see Big Dave doing well at Grimsby.

Whats going on at Morecambe, can't believe a guy who lost 6-0 on Saturday gets given the role full time on Monday. Cheap option ?

When a team has no money ,how do you go for managers that you know you can't afford

You are undoubtedly correct...the only problem is that Dale's preferred manager is one who is starting out in the game and not anyone with real experience, pretty much all of his appointments have followed the same trend and the club have got away with it, until he appointed Rob Edwards...whose uni-tactic only revealed itself when promotion had been pretty much guaranteed. Since then the appointments have followed the same pattern and unless he does what you are suggesting a second successive relegation is a distinct possibility.

Sadler is on thin ice already here as well.

Yep. He's managed 18 league games so if he makes it to tomorrow he'll have at least outlasted Big Dunc. If he makes it past Christmas he'll have outlasted Burchnall.

There are a few clubs that might be very unhappy with the state of things. Salford in 17th jumps out. Donnie are another.
Sutton changing their manager might not change their fate, but unless they make a change somewhere, they seem certain of going down.
But even if i am correctly writing Sutton off, who else is going down.
The consensus seems to be that Grimsby have a good enough squad for any half decent manager to shoot them up the table, and I'm amongst the people who suspect that Artell is much better than half decent.
I've watched a few Tranmere matches recently. There's not great, but they're certainly improved.
Colchester under Etherington look at least mid-table.
Harrogate look wobbly, but wobbly like a Subbuteo player that keeps bouncing back upright.
So who's left?
Frankly I'm not counting out my own side Bradford City slipping down the table, but Alexander seems to have discovered how to use his current players to eke out some wins, and will have the resources to bring in new players in a month or two, provided he can ship out some of the dross. The match against Forest Green tonight will be a big indicator though.
Which does bring us to Forest Green. Given how late Horseman came in though, you can't really sack him before the transfer window. Mind you, I'm not sure I've seen much of Forest Green. Hopefully I will be inclined to change my mind after tonight's match.

would it be fair to say that FGR have had 2 decent managers since 2009? Vince has a terrible track record for appointments.

And tbh I don't rate Cooper much.

Sounds like we will be announcing Neil Harris as our new manager today. Gills fans, what can we expect?

Mat Sadler with some questionable comments about the fans last night, got a proper ego on him.

He has seemingly lost 95% of the fanbase but is still clinging onto his job somehow.

I’m looking forward to when you do sack him just so I can see the headline ‘Saddlers sack Sadler’.

I reckon the Saddlers will be saddled with Sad Sadler a little while longer yet.

How on earth does that Neil Harris keep getting jobs by the way? Is he the new Appleton?

A bit harsh.
He took. Cardiff to the Championship playoffs and Millwall to the Championship playoffs and Gills were one point off automatic when he was sacked.
Bit unfair to put him in the ‘journeyman’ category already.

Maybe they are keeping him untill they have a replacement ready.

Won’t be pretty but it will be effective.
He will make you hard to beat and organised.
He is also a thoroughly decent bloke.

I worked as a steward for hire when I urgently needed to earn some money. The only bright spot about working at the Den was an occasional encounter with Neil Harris. Seemed a really nice guy, unlike the majority of the Millwall supporters and their directly employed stewards.

Not managerial (in the football sense at least), but our CEO Debbie Cook is leaving in Feb.

Think her new role is primarily with the EFL Trust and will report to the EFL board rather than being on the football side itself

So my guess is we won't be seeing the name Joey Barton appearing on this or any managerial thread for a while.

Accrington's owner came out in his corner, and he doesn't seem long-term committed to his current duo.

Good manager but his playing style infuriated supporters.

It was a lot better than our playing style these last two seasons! 10 wins in our last 65 league games.
