I thought he was looking a better fit up at Bradford than he did at ours. I'm guessing the football is just as dire though, whatever the result.

The football is turgid. Don't rate him as a manager at all. Shouldn't be getting another manager job after he leaves us, to be honest.

I think if they act quickly and get a steady pair of hands in, they'll be fine next season.

It's all about how quickly they can usher Artell out the door and admit appointing him was a bad mistake. I feel for the players.

Stockport County.
Artell looks to have gone away from his general approach though, which I think is a great thing for Grimsby and two cracking away wins have followed.

Where Artell fails is in his coaching ability to make teams play expansive football, even though it is his desire. He will revert back to trying to shorehorn this style in soon. That is my fear.

For this moment, I'm delighted he's adapted and followed my advice.

Incidentally, one for my Grimsby bro's. We were at Hurst's Shrewsbury last night. The stream panned to him constantly. And every time he was literally swigging from a water bottle. He must piss like a race horse at Half and Full Time.

His team had good "shape" and worked hard but had very little creativity which is what you lot complained about to be fair.

The biggest myth on this forum is that I don't want Grimsby to do well. It's the opposite.

You don’t like our manager and you have serious issues against our co-owner, but want us to do well.

Excuse me for calling bullshit on that one.

There was a 1% chance that was news rather than a wish, but still enough to get my hopes up.
But what's the point? The next guy wouldn't be better.
Correct, unless Sharp instead of Sparks had the task of identifying a replacement.

Don't get the point of bringing Sharp in though whilst Sparks is still here?

Been very quiet for sackings so far this season. Only 1. Last season there were 4 by this date and 6 by the end of the month.

Aside from maybe Kennedy, it's hard to see where the next firing is coming.

The Cowleys maybe? Colchester seem to be under performing again. Salford often change quickly.

I said in the League One forum that there aren't many experienced coaches out of work that would be willing drop to the bottom of League One or anywhere in League Two.

Pete Wild, Wade Elliot and Dino Maamria are the only names I can think of that might end up down here. Anyone else IMO is very unlikely.

I can't see anyone going for Joey Barton now after the way he's conducted himself the last year.

With money tight and not many coaches avaliable, I can see it being quiet on the sackings front tbh.

I don't think Wade Elliott will ever manage again.

I should expand - I don't think he wants to manage again.

Personally, I think he's a fantastic coach - he was as much as part of our success in 2021 as Michael Duff. I just don't think he's a leader. Also, he seems happy doing what he's doing now as a scout for Southampton.

Being a manager isn't all it's cracked up to be. As we've seen with the England job, it's put the cost of coaching badges under the spotlight and I think that puts a fair few off. Not to mention it's 24/7, 365 days a year job. Plus you get dogs abuse when you're struggling, sacked at the drop of a hat, you're probably asked to relocate yourself away from your family(or with them in tow). Having a cushy coaching/scouting/backroom role is far less demanding and easier.

We basically got paid £200,000 to sack Williamson tbh.

Off the top of my head, the only manager who seems to be under pressure is Nigel Adkins at Tranmere, which seems crazy. I know they're not doing well, but it's a whole lot better than last season.
On the other hand, does Adkins seem like a Donald trump lawyer / A$AP Rocky type of manager when the new owners finally take over? Maybe I'm leaning into a stereotype, but i see them wanting to shoot up the table instantly. (Mr rocky would only be a very small minority owner anyway. People are only going on about it to provide clickbait that Rihanna's going to spend her spare time watching Tranmere.)
Karl Robinson, Salford (or his contacts) seemed to be chucking his name around a couple of weeks ago.
Is Mark Kennedy under any pressure at Swindon?
With some of the clubs that started badly improving, i think we're going to see a lot more managers under pressure in the next few months.

Don't think it's crazy. Tranmere is a good club that should be doing much, much better. Always seem to be stuck down near 16th.

I think we dodged a bullet with the Cowleys, who turned us down last November before we appointed Graham Alexander.
We nearly got Kennedy in February until Moore became available so dodged one there it seems, fans were not too keen as his record at Lincoln was modest at best.

Curious Swindon would choose to wait until the day before the next game to fire Kennedy. Was always on the cards you’d think but surely should have done it the day after they lost midweek. Not sure how big the queue will be to work with that owner though.
