So we can gather from the head coach ahead of DOF appointment that we were certainly going for the MK Dons DOF aswell because we were never supposed to appoint head coach first.........suggests we are looking elsewhere now on that front.

for me its probably a good thing, that isnt me dismissing the MK dons DOF, moreso there is a massive difference between players you attract to MK Dons (exceptional location) to Carlisle

we realistically need to find a DOF with good connections in midlands and north and knows scotland and maybe non league..............just a little more than Abbotts Bradford only connections.

although I'll say it now as a Carlisle fan, I am getting very worried at the scary levels of batsh*t cash this lot are spending, not only we have the two highest paid players in division, now probably spending £200-500,000 (considering all the other coaches) on a coaching set-up that lets be honest hasnt been working of late.

investment I want, with good planning yes.........willy nilly thorwing of cash all over place then buggering off with £30 million debts.........no.
I'm assuming that Wyke is one of the two highest paid players in the division. Who, out of interest, is the other?

Armstrong maybe?

Two relatively big lads up top in a Williamson side of tippy tappy football will be interesting.

wyke and Jones they were both on absolute ridiculous money at Wigan last season, I think wyke was on 12k a week, not sure on Jones.

Granted both wont be on that level of cash (they got them contracts when Wigan did their cash spunking spell) but neither will be cheap and I doubt many others in division on their wages

I don't know about Jones but Wyke is rumoured to be on something between 5 - 7k a week.

It's not just me that thinks this of him then?

Seriously - the fucking love-in that Cheltenham fans have for the bloke is sickening. We're not allowed to place any blame on him for our relegation because what sent us down was the first 11 games and not the remaining 35 that he was in charge for!

That he jumped ship within a month of relegation means only the board are culpable and not him apparently. The answer would be No.
I liked Daryl when at Rovers .But he did make some strange decisions. Mind you if you asked me would I like him back -- Then thats a different propositionl altogether. The answer would be an emphatical no.

I don’t think the other 3 coaches will have cost in terms or release clause. Once we triggered the 200k to get Williamson, I doubt they’ll have stood in the other threes way. Once they’d lost Williamson I m really don’t think they’d try and keep three coaches that a potential new manager wouldn’t want. So yeah I reckon it will have only cost us Simpson + his staff payoff and then the 200k release clause for Williamson.

Imagine supporting a club like yours who are stuck in the 20th century with no ambition and no money to spend at all.

Big rumours around Crawley that Scot Lindsey has left Crawley to be head coach at MK Dons.

Nothing official but all over the Facebook, X and fans forum pages.

Obviously gone for the project...if the project is more money for the family Lindsey. Not that I would blame him for that.

He has lasted longer than other good staff or players weve picked up. Most leave at the first opportunity. Small mercies and all that.

I'm hearing similar, an announcement is rumoured for later this morning.

I wouldn't agree about the project though. Money would definitely be a factor but our owners are extremely ambitious and haven't come in to just tread water with a 4th tier football club. There's a definite project happening here and SL is their first managerial appointment on that journey back up the leagues. There's a reason that he would have turned down Barnsley and Gillingham (fair enough I stand corrected! Just copied what I saw elsewhere) but agreed to join us and I don't think just money is that reason.

Although perhaps Crawley this season is a different beast to Crawley last season, especially with the summer you guys suffered through.

He didn’t turn us down, we couldn’t agree compensation after he’d agreed to come to us (apparently).

He didn't turn down Gillingham, they preferred the guy they got. Lindsey lives five minutes from Gill's ground and is a single parent so that would be a dream job for him.

If it turns out to be true you have a decent manager. Mind you a lot of Swindon fans were not so sure (if I recall correctly).

It is true that sometimes a face fits a club.

Fair play that's a great appointment. No questioning his record at Crawley.

Interesting and, on the surface, a very good one (can’t think of anyone better on paper). Incredible job at Crawley but always interested to see how managers adapt when they go from plucky underdog to high expectations of getting results every week.

Yep, he came across as an absolute prick at ours and you’d struggle to find anyone at the time who didn’t want him gone. Having said that you can’t deny that he’s done well at Crawley

Out of interest what did he do that pissed so many people off there? Didn’t he have you guys in the play-off spots when you let him go?

If I recall wasn’t part of it the fact they were expecting a ‘big name’ and ended up with a seeming nobody?

MK Dons could have left us with someone to pick the team this weekend!

I dont think there's a trained coach left in the building!

I thought Ben Gladwin was a coach now. I'm surprised they didn't say yesterday that he'd be the caretaker, just to stave off the inevitable digs (and being honest even I think there's about a 1% chance) that Preston Johnson will be the manager on Saturday.
Rob Elliot now the favourite for the permanent job, which I don't think will happen. (Rumours that he turned down Carlisle). Was Nathan Rooney quite divisive in his time at the club?

Gladwin appointed as caretaker but I'm not sure he has actually qualified as a coach yet. The players last season liked and respected him but how many this season have just met him!

Rob Elliot was from south London originally but if the family are settled...?

Rooney wasn't divisive when he was here. He was assistant to Cioffi and he was very strict.

Just seen Karl Robinson mentioned but I will know who it is when they are announced. I'm going for Lopetegui from West Ham because they need to lose him fast.

Scott Lindsey has done a good job at all the clubs where he has coached. Low key perhaps but good all the same. FGR were top dogs but failed to get promoted when he left a few months bf season end. Swindon were in play-offs when he departed and of course Crawley ...........
Scott is a nice fella who always has a smile for his own team's supporters.
Good luck to him at MK.
