If I were an Orient fan I would want Campbell so if Calderwood does leave I would want us to go in for him. Done a good job at Macc under seriously difficult ongoing behind the scenes.

Looks like their summer recruitment was spot on too.

If Calderwood doesn’t do his press conference in the morning then it’s as good as done in my eyes.

Our owner has tweeted for the first time in ages earlier tonight, saying the process has taken longer than expected. Who knows, innit.

Millwall manager is looking for a job...
I'd take Harris, but he's more likely to end up at Southend, as its where he resides with his family.

Mike Flynn has signed a new 3 year contract with us.
Probably to ward off interest from Stoke who seem to have taken a liking to managers from Newport(Pulis and Jones).

1996 was the year. He banged in goals for us on loan, then Orient took our manager (Tommy Taylor) and then Taylor signed McGleish for Orient. We were seething!!!!!!!!!

According to an interview with Tommy Taylor, he said he called up Barry Hearn at the time and asked about the job - He wasn't happy that Cambridge at the time kept making him sign a 3 month rolling contract, so he decided to jump ship.

He also openly admitted, that he told McGleish not to sign for Cambridge, but to sign for us instead and join him.

12 months later after 1 goal in 10 games at the start of the 1997/98 season, Taylor sold McGleish to Barnet (Which didn't go down well) and that was that.

Nathan Jones is from the Rhondda, no connection to Newport. Tony Pulis is Newport born and bred, same area of the city as Michael Flynn.

Would make sense I guess. He'd come down here and pissboil his way to a 1-0 win and give the finger to the Devonport End I'm sure. This was a quality I loved about him - really knew how to rub the opposition up the wrong way.

No doubt he's a manager who can really get the best out of a certain type of player and has had success pretty much everywhere he's been, however it comes at a price so be prepared for very stubborn tactics and not great football 'his way or the high way'.

If things go wrong they tend to go very wrong with him, can totally polarise a fanbase and even ended up calling us 'yobs' whilst still in charge.

With his pedigree I think it'd be a shrewd appointment for Orient.

I always thought he out stayed his welcome at Plymouth.

Only 44 years old though - So might be more willing to work with Ling than someone a bit older.

His fiery personality worries me though - Not sure if thats what we need right now.

See, I did ask who was going to end up with Adam’s? He is a hard man to like, but he is a winner at this level. Personally, I think he would be a good choice for you. But as PG says you’ll play winning, but not often attractive football.

He is utterly devoted to football, and does not seem to have much of a hinterland. He also seems to like to be in charge of everything football wise.

After four years of listening to him being interviewed, I don’t think I ever understood a single word he said.

He is someone that has a great knack of winding up opposing fans and the prickly managers. He also seems to have loyalty from some players, so I guess Jervis will be joining you in January.

He will settle you down and then next year take you forward.

I am pretty sure when he joined us part of the deal was that club legend Wotton was given a prominent role, and that seemed to work. So maybe he can be persuaded to bring in some staff, but develop others.

Our owner Kent Teague has confirmed that we're currently negotiating compensation for our new manager who is already at a club.

I've been told its Daryl McMahon, but Darren Currie is the other name being mentioned.

Interesting if its McMahon, but wouldn't surprise me. Why would he stay with us and risk never receiving a pay packet. But on the flip side, what a perversely amazing piece of business for our owner - employ a young manager out of work most likely for peanuts, not pay him, and then demand a compo package!

Carl Fletcher is now odds on, he is currently in a job with Bournemouths Youth team - Would be very underwhelmed if it was him.

Who knows, I was told by my source McMahon was the one they wanted.......................

So after all the nonsense of the last few weeks, it looks like its Carl Fletcher who will be our new head coach, the fee of £60k to get him out of Bournemouth is whats floating around our rumour mill.

A very disappointing appointment and huge gamble from our board, to pay for someone who hasn't coached let alone managed properly for a good few years.

I appreciate that Fletcher had one hand tied behind his back at Plymouth and did the best he could at the time, but I can't help but think that this will just all end in tears.

We were crying out for him to play himself, we need his midfield grit and nouse. But as you say he had both arms tied behind his back.

He was brilliant in Dream Team though, pros and cons.

We are really dragging this out - apparently we're still discussing terms with Carl Fletcher but can't agree on a few things in his contract................

Superb bloke and really hope he does well.

All things considered he didn’t do a bad job with us at the time. Now with a bit more experience under his belt he could be a decent appointment.

Didn’t Nathan Jones go to Luton from Brighton as a youth coach? Worked well for them!
