One was us apparently but Ainsworth isn't interested according to the source, not sure how credible it is though.
That would have been a weird move by Hardy, given how Nolan played last season and what he has this season.

Let’s see, I’d imagine that we will have spoken to the managers to gauge their interest before making it public though

I could be giving professionals too much credit though

We didn’t necessarily make it public, although can’t see where else it would leak from.

That said, they put Kewell and Ardley directly to Hardy on EMT and, whilst he didn’t directly confirm them, he went straight into saying he was speaking to one tonight and one in the morning.

Exciting times. Although its been a long time since I last speculated on who the knew appointment could be. I prefer just to let it happen, and then give a snap verdict from the guy once it’s official.

Nice of Alan to keep us all updated via email, clearly a man of the people, maybe a little too much lol

Kewell may go on to be a good manager. He isn't yet. He has his style and regardless of the players at his disposal that's what you play.... including the keeper passing the ball back from goal kicks.

Word around here...er Crawley...is that we have given permission for County to speak with Kewell and that he was a guest if your chairman at your game in Friday. I don't know if he was there or not but if he was I doubt if it was as a guest of the chairman as I doubt anyone would be that insensitive. If he was I do not doubt he would be given all consideration as would any other manager gone to watch the game.

Losing managers is something Crawley have become good at lately. If Kewell goes I hope we employ John Yems as his replacement.

Having watched the local news I wish Hardy had given Nolan the loans rather than sack him.
I can't really defend Nolan too far but I felt for him in that interview and wish it had worked out better for everyone.

I agree, he's going to have to back the new manager with loans anyway then you chuck in the money to get rid of the current regime and more spent to bring the new lot in.

It's risky.

It’s football. Its literally happened dozens and dozens and dozens of times. Naturally new manager rarely wants the last ones signed players... so the cycle begins.

Nolan’s appointment was....... a risk

Exactly what I said. Think we owed Nolan ten games

I think he'd earned the right to a couple of loans and one more home match.
There's plenty of managers I've been glad to see leave but I have very mixed feelings about this one and even more so in Kewell coming in. Feels like the wrong man at the wrong time.

If it is Kewell it makes even less sense. Another manager who used to be big time but has little experience... what’s the point?

I agree, but also the bit where he was asked about what he would’ve done to turn it around was a bit telling. He could only really come up with signing another experienced midfielder, and he does already have David Vaughan.

That said, I would’ve given him another five games personally.

The Kewell style of football thing will be interesting - I have no doubt he will be able to get more out of our ball playing midfield and attack, but he’d surely be hamstrung by our defenders who aren’t good at passing it out at all.

It’s an assumption at this stage based upon who’s been interviewed and bookies favourites

Hardy’s mad so who knows, but can’t see him paying that.

Personally I hope it's dead in the water.... I'd get behind Kewell but really do think it's a waste of an appointment and one that could end up with us having 3 managers in a season

So because Kewell played in the premier league and has relatively little experience of league 2, there would have been no point in sacking Nolan if we give him the job?

I would imagine the compo thing will end up been negotiated if his head has been turned.

The point I am making is that they have both played and managed at the same level. Nolan has a better record. What’s the point of sacking him for Kewell

Ardley told the press last night he knew nothing about it. Sounds like a lie but who knows eh

Apparently Crawley want 400k for Kewell. That and the fact most of Notts twitter has been tweeting big Al to say they don’t want Kewell probably means he has moved further away from joining.

Is it?

I gave up guessing what was going to work/not work long ago. The last manager Notts fans were convinced by and the proverbial safe pair of hands was Sheridan - and to put it bluntly, the bloke was a complete disgrace.

Just a gut feel... can see three managers this season if we appoint him

Being confident about whether your team’s next manager is any good or not makes about as much sense as saying your lottery numbers are better than anyone else’s.

Bit different, rarely do managers show poor form and go on to be great. Usually their style and previous results give a good indication

Lottery on the other hand is random
