He found an excuse (a poor one) to jump ship and took it, so his claim when he joined that he would never leave a club mid season again turn out to be absolute bollocks.

"wannabe owners" isn't exactly a ringing endorsement, although I suspect he's unlikely to lavish praise if they're the apparent reason he's leaving.

Does seem a convenient way out. I think he's been trying to manoeuvre out for a week or two. Firstly the statement a couple of weeks back, then withdrawing of buying shares.

I think he’s jumped the gun on the takeover as an excuse to get out before he completely wrecks it in January.

Disappointed it’s ended like this and now desperately worried about the future. If the takeover happens then things look bright, but we need a takeover and an almost entirely new squad in 6 weeks to have any chance of staying up now.

How can you build a whole new squad in 6 weeks mid season, when you've got to stay under the budget cap and have 30 plus players in your squad? Ain't gonna be easy to shift out a lot of those to make room in the budget.

Just to add, he's obviously not been working under an ideal set of circumstances. If the Chairman's words about being close to the salary cap already are true, then there's little scope there for January, especially trying to offload players who aren't performing well anyway.

Rumours that he was involved the dodgy investor stuff and I can completely believe it. Another fine addition to the circus. The sooner we get a new owner(s) the better because the club is dying quickly. Main issue now being how can a board on the verge of leaving choose a new suitor, one week before January? Think we’re fucked unless someone like Hurst comes back, which he won’t unless we’re taken over.

We have a hell of a lot of loanees in the squad, should be easy to reduce this squad by 6/7 on 1st Jan at least.

When we announced we were close to our maximum salary it was cleverly worded, it was almost certainly not the cap of the EFL and most likely our own internal one.

The club confirmed in their statement that Fenty is selling his shares. The incoming owners have very good backgrounds, including Jason Stockwood who set up ‘match.com’ and ‘last minute.com’ as well as doing fantastic work in the community. Watching him speak, he seems a far cry from Fenty but he has so precious little time to get this working.

Did not Holloway invest some money and have part ownership? is that what is at the heart of this?

He never actually did, he was waiting to sell his house which took ages and by the time it sold, the madness unfolded.

Boris Johnson in that hat was the final straw :D Never seemed quite all he cracked up to be Holloway, imo, not lately at least. Dining out on that season at Blackpool.

Dining out on making a few daft analogies on Match of the Day a decade ago.

I remember when he was the guest on BBC Gardeners World at the Chelsea Flower Show - I think he was on gardening leave at the time from QPR I think.

How close is this takeover? Who will be appointing the next manager?

Either way hope you get sorted and that fans can have a genuine say in the new ownership.

A lot to sort out at Blundell Park to put it mildly.

I genuinely worry for Grimsby you know, feel like they are on a downward slide that we have all seen before, should be fine this season at least.

well I am glad at least for him that he did not invest money. However, it does not sound good for you guys.

Me too Conks, it would be a shame if they end up back in the NL if only because their fans deserve much better. Thing is I'm not so sure they should be fine this season. Southend are no longer the side they were at the start of the season and I don't think Stevenage will allow last season's scenario to repeat itself (I think they'll add some real quality in Jan because they just have to).

But you just know the worst thing about ending up back in the NL is that they won't be in a position to challenge for promotion with all them big spenders down there.

Michael Jolley appointed Barrow manager on a two and a half year deal. Seems a reasonable enough appointment for me.

Could be a case where we face two new managers in a row!

Sure Jolleys first game at Grimsby was against us too.

It’s all gone mad here, it seems Fenty isn’t selling up at all.

I believe that was the game that you had about 65 shots to our 1 and yet we somehow got a draw after scoring an equaliser in injury time.

Yep McKeown turned into Gordon Banks that day... and Tonge with his shit penalty and a massive scrap at the end!
