Paul Simpson is a realistic option for Barrow.
Experienced, NW based, knowledgeable,
works well with a low budget.
Wouldn't be the biggest surprise if he got the job at Holker Street.

Didn't think he'd be particularly arsed about managing anyone again unless he felt he had a point to prove. He hadn't managed domestically for a good few years before he carried out your rescue mission did he?

Never understood why Barrow and Pete Wild parted ways. Always thought he did a good job despite fading last season.

Sounds like there was something going on behind the scenes that made him leave, but if it was just because he didn't get Barrow into the play offs then their owners are deluded to think that finishing 8th and only a point behind the play offs wasn't good enough for a small club like Barrow.

Maybe your lot shouldn't have got rid of Simpson?

The promotion he achieved was largely thanks to the players he inherited but as soon as he put his own team together he became utterly clueless and wasted quite a bit of money.

Some suggestion from the bookies that Andy Crosby, who’s been working with Adkins at Rovers on a short-term basis is a contender. Hard to say what impact he’s had with us.

Great coach, excellent for us but didn't really work out as manager, losing 7-0 in this first game as a manager didn't help, turned it around but then it never kept up, was he let down from above or just not good enough is the question for his time with us but he is a fantastic coach.

I would be underwhelmed by Crosby, but then again we can't exactly go shopping in the premium aisles. I'm a bit torn in terms of which direction we should go in, do we get a safe pair of hands in to see us safe this season and then bring in a coach to take us forward in the summer? A lot of our better players who have really underperformed for circa 12 months are out of contract so there would be a good opportunity for a manager or coach to put his own stamp on things in the summer. Or do we make a long term appointment now?

I'm probably favouring getting someone in who's doing well in the league below, i.e Parkinson at Alty and Whing at Solihull, however they've first got to want to make the step up and second it's whether we can really afford to pay one coach off and then pay compo to get another.

Are you just on a survival budget?

We've always been told we've got a competitive budget, but we will surely have to pay more to get players in relative to what some of the bigger clubs in this league would have to, if that makes sense.

Can see Danny Johnson rocking up at Barrow now Sadler and Whing are best mates and Johnson would probably welcome the move now he's not getting a chance here.

I hear the owner has already created a shortlist after googling the names of the current Notts, Gateshead and Crawley managers

It’s not the owner. He’s too busy bathing in oil in Kuwait. Liam Sweeting is the man you’re referring to.

Im biased as he is a bit of a Town Legend but he did a good job at Bolton and will no doubt get another job pretty easily. Perhaps in League 2.

Good job.

He's epically failed with what he's had at his disposal FFS.
