Good job.

He's epically failed with what he's had at his disposal FFS.
Promotion, Trophy at Wembley and League 1 play offs. This year hasn’t been good enough but I’d argue he’s done much better than most.

No manager in our 150 year history managed the club outside of the top two leagues longer than he did.
We bought promotion from league two nothing more.
We Reached the final of the Papa Johns because he was the only manager to play his strongest team even in the group stages.
We lay second this time last year and had games in hand.
He then spent over 4m that is correct 4m on players bringing in 750k. Heavy defeats and the way we play i would suggest his record was not that good.

Turgid, sideways and backwards football.

Bolton fans I know have hated him for ages.

Evatt failed for me, he got them out of league two be even then made hard work of that in a poorish division that year, consider Cheltenham and Cambridge had a fraction of the budget he'd have had.

They've really stagnated as a lower league club under him and needed the change.

Bolton should be in the Championship as a minimum.

Yeah we took 4 points off Bolton that season and we finished bottom and had Montel Gibson and Ira Jackson Jr up front.
Just for that they should have been instantly denied promotion.

Wonder how long the Newport manager has. Five losses on the bounce.

I just had to look up who their manager was, never heard of him.

To be fair, I had them down as bottom 2 material before the start of the season, so they are doing better than I thought they would overall

I will be shocked if both tranmere and Carlisle are not manager hunting come Monday.

Question is who will go to either.

I think Adkins would have gone already if Tranmere weren’t in a state of flux off the field. Sad to see. They need a Derek Adams type just to pull them clear I think.

Carlisle sacking their manager before our game against them on Saturday, therefore preventing the Grimsby Reaper his prize of a sacking after being beaten by us. So unfair!

Mark Hughes appointed at Carlisle. He's looking for revenge for the playoffs 2 years ago by taking them down

Return of the dinosaur.

Where’s that Bradford fan that absolutely adored him and his pre historic football?

I think it was our female fans that adored him. I actually worked with a lady who supported Man Utd and when Hughes was appointed she couldn't contain herself and bought a season ticket for us.

I think FiRTHYY if my memory serves me right was a fan of the terradactyl, but that may have been due to club loyalties more than anything.

Have to admit didn’t expect this one to be the answer. Did think a dinosaur type manager was the answer but didn’t quite have Hughes in mind. To be fair all else has failed for them.

I personally think Hughes is a desperation appointment made by people who have no clue about the lower league but have gone ‘I have heard of Manchester united’ and seen him on tv in America and then appointed him and in the long term it will probably fail.

It may work on this short term situation, my worry was the Bradford fans talking about his ‘lack of care’ you don’t need that right now.

But he seems the type who will not be nicely nice to the players we have had that far too much in the last year, he has a lot of experience which we did need right now, he has as such reached the bottom last chance rung of management it works here or never. He fails this one he isn’t in football anymore.

I’m hoping at least he may bring some common sense to a stupid set up

I know the vibe from Carlisle fans is planning for next year in the NL but to be honest you’re only 5 points away from safety so it’s not insurmountable. In reality the short term boost is all that’s really required right now.

I echo the desperation, it screams that.

The problem is, say he gets you out of trouble this season you’ll then be stuck with him afterwards and it’s not gunna go well after that.

Hughes will have you playing Williamson type football. Loves his centre halves to make multiple sideways passes between them for example. Not the type of battling high press football I think is required for you to escape the trapdoor to non league.

Obviously get snippets from listening to Radio Cumbria but the problem with Williamson seemed to be that he was too matey with the players. Hughes would at least get them whipped if they aren't performing. That would be an improvement from the start.

Mark Hughes will be recalling Harry Lewis in goal I would imagine. Had him at Southampton as a kid and first choice at Bradford City, where to be fair, he was excellent for him
