Go for it, I dont really care. As Ive just pointed out, its not fantasy football, its not about money, it's managing with what you've got. And to us under Moyes, that was managing on a budget. Then every couple of years, getting big money for a player likes Lescott, and spending the money on improving the squad. That's generally how most clubs operate. If clubs spent more than us to finish lower, that doesnt mean we are 'punching above our weight ' at all. It's just bad management from other clubs. Newcastle have spent about £75 million since last summer, are they only seen as underachieving because they've spent money?
You have kopite delusion in your veins mate.

I can confirm Toddy is correct.

Using Lesta as logic then every club bar the promoted ones are underacheiving. Everton are an average club and have been overachieving up until recently. 12th is just under their natural level.

At least I jest when I say Swansea are better than what we are. Everton aren't on the level that you think you are. Potentially with the PL being weak atm you should be doing better but that doesn't disguise that your natural level is that of an upper mid table club at best.

Yernited, Citeh, Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs, Liverpool. They're big clubs who have a right to be furious at finishing anything lower than 7th in the table. You guys should treat 8th was a huge success. Your natural right based on stature is on a par with Villa, Newcastle & West Ham. As I've said elsewhere on this forum, you're gonan rival the Barcodes if you carry on this delusion.

Toddy is a true blue and knows the score.

Everton should try to get Moyes back. They were a great side under him.

I'd have said about 7th at worst. Wherever it is, it's next to Spurs.

Anyway, the point remains that it must be incredibly frustating to be a Toffee at the moment - The squad is there, the off field stuff is starting to gradually piece together after years of hot air and despite being magnificent entertainment, Everton are really near the front of the queue of teams who could have poked their head up with Leicester, Spurs and West Ham this year.

However, next year looking like big clubs with big managers again, they'll need to get a hell of an improvement in to bridge the gap.

We've finished 8th or below 4 times since Moyes first full season in 2002. Neither of you are good at this wind up lark, it's a bit obvious when you're talking that much shit.

Nobody had once ever mentioned expecting something like top 4. I EXPECT to at least put up a challenge for the Europa League places, eg to finish somewhere between about 5th and 8th. We are currently not even threatening the top half. But yeah, we should know our place, we're not better than Stoke, Southampton or a terrible Liverpool team so yay for 12th!

Only fair to say he's done very well to get Everton to two semi-finals this season. Cup manager?

It seems that way doesnt it? Fair play, I dont think we actually played that well today, both teams were poor, just a worldie from Lukaku turned it in our favour. A wins a win though, and like I said beforehand, beat Chelsea, he deserves to keep his job for now.

Not even threatening the top half? That's funny considering you'd be 7th if you win the games in hand.
Things derailed when McCarthy was injured, he shields the defence excellently and you were nervy late on in games when under pressure.

Stoke, Southampton, Leicester all have bigger budgets than Everton this season, Stokes owner is worth nearly 1bn, meanwhile Southamptons is worth 4bn. With the government funded West Ham now probably ahead of Everton too. Everton are probably 10th in the budget listings, so your league position isn't too out of place. When Moyes was in charge for the most part Everton probably had the 7th biggest budget and finished 5-7th regularly. Since Martinez took over teams with more financial backing have come into the equation. Everton overperformed massively in Martinez's first season and Everton fans generally have too high a expectations. I heard Everton fans on a radio call saying they should be competing for the title because Leicester are, ridiculous logic that one team overperforms so everyone else should.

Whilst Martinez is very stubborn, he's not a bad manager, playing a back 3 with wing backs would help massively as that system changed us completely defensively, suddenly soft goals stopped happening and we kept multiple clean sheets and conceded something like 18 in 18 in the games after that formation swap. Everton certainly haven't had the rub of the green this season on the league and individual stupid mistakes have cost the team regularly, idiotic red cards, missing penalties and giving away a 2-0 lead at Bournemouth when 80 minutes were gone and the match was being controlled is something that is out of the managers control.

Two Cup Semi Finals in one season, should have been a final in the League Cup had officials not been so bad, now with a great chance of winning it for the first time in 21 years. A fixture list with games in hand which could see Everton easily climb into the top 8 come May. The seasons not as bad some would have you believe.

It's hardly surprising as well to see Everton play much better and without fear away from home with fans who bother going actually getting behind the team, rather than the toxic atmosphere at Goodison Park, with boos, moans and groans and just down right abuse aimed at your own players. If you're not in the lead by the 5th minute the fans get restless. I've never heard a set of supporters so against their own team, than Everton fans at Goodison this season.

Leicester are 18th in terms of transfer value of the squad. Our owners being billionaires does not mean we are working to a budget bigger than Everton are, even if we are/were capable of it. So it's misleading to include us.

I doubt very much that either Stoke or Soton have a bigger budget than Everton as well.
I like Martinez but he's made some strange decisions this season.

Well we fucking don't. We give them £50 a week and all the walkers they can eat. Except cheese and onion. There's a limit on cheese and onion.

Ill agree completely on that point, the crowd has been horrific for about 18 months now. We've always been a difficult to please bunch, but we still got behind the team on a matchday. I think the excellent first season Martinez had brought a few hangers on in, who have been spoiled rotten by one good season, and now seem to think we should be smashing absolutely everybody every week. It all started with QPR at home last season. We hadnt been playing well, but did play well that night and had the game won comfortably before the hour. Then in the last 10 minutes, Jagielka dared to pass the ball back to the goalkeeper as we started to relax and take it easy a bit with the Christmas fixtures coming up, and a large percentage of the crowd actually booed. Yes, for daring to pass backwards at 3-0 up with 10 minutes left. It was obvious that night that negativity had an effect on the players, as we looked a different side in those last 10 minutes, QPR pulled one back, and it could have been very bad had there been a bit longer left. That has carried on in home games since. It never seems to be that bad in games against the bigger names, Spurs, City and Chelsea in Cup games etc. were by far the best home atmospheres this season, just because they werent negative. We put 6 and 4 past Sunderland and Villa in consecutive home games in November and people were still moaning we hadnt scored enough!

Ive been going away for 12 years, and the away crowd only really turns nasty when things are really truly awful. Hull last season, Villa on Boxing Day 05, Anfield 2012 etc. They stick out because they're so rare. These days Im struggling to think of more than the 3 home games I mentioned above in the last 18 months where the crowd werent a moaning gang of arl cranks!
