Match Day ticket prices

No, but I can't imagine that many of Wednesday's games will be Category B this season, so the prices may be reasonable for many other games.

I'm sure when Rotherham are in town it will attract a bumper crowd and be a Category A*, but we'll worry about that when we get to it.

No club will be Cat A or A* next season, if Bristol C had been in mid October it'd have been a Cat D/E

I'm sure you're right that someone's done the sums, but I've always felt that it's a short term plan. More people in the stadium means more match day income and merchandise sales, more people who might become regular attendees in the future. Maybe people just aren't that price sensitive when it comes to football - some will go regardless of cost, and some have reasons other than price for not going?

I agree, food/drink and merchandise sales are likely to go up with more people inside the stadium, not to mention the atmosphere and general match-day experience is improved (generally at least).

I increasingly think people are putting their foot down with price at football. I decided enough was enough with Bates and had a few seasons where I didn't go. I've already spoken to a few Wedneday fans at work who're talking with a similar mindset. If they go through with it's another matter but the only way clubs will lean is if people stop going.

Granted, it's not as bad for Rotherham fans, because it's only an 8p bus ride away and factoring in travel expenses really isn't an issue, but imagine if Bristol City decided to start charging those prices? I know for a fact you'd be on 'ere pissing your knickers about it.

You are comparing the best team in the world to Sheffield Wednesday vs Bristol City. Oh and you could get a Gods seat for 39 Euros 3 months ago for a La Liga match. Obviously this goes up for Madrid or Valencia etc. But considering I can fly to Barcelona from Bristol for only a fraction more than the Bristol City coach it might be a cheaper day out!

Tickets for our first home game with Charlton are currently £26, £27, £28, £30.50, £33, £35.50.

Would imagine they will be £27 or £28 for the Charlton fans and that will be the same most of the season except for the games against Forest Wednesday, Leeds etc.

Given it's the first home game of the season it's probably a little more expensive than if it was later in the season or on a Tuesday night.

You wanna have a word with coach firms in Bristol about their prices, if a return flight to Barcelona costs only a fraction more and that's before you condemn Wednesday's ticket prices.

Honestly mate, from the bottom of my heart, I genuinely don't think North End scoring a last minute winner at Hillsborough is worth £40. Not even close.

If it was a final day of the season game, where we'd need to win to go up, maybe. But that scenario is highly unlikely, seeing as we're playing them on the 3rd of October.

I suppose people have differing levels of interest in their team, and I consider myself to be a hardcore PNE fan, but I draw the line at paying £40 to watch us play at Sheff Wednesday in a standard Championship fixture. And judging by the reaction on Twitter from fans of other clubs, and the fans on our forum, I'm not on my own in thinking that.

I don't understand the point of seven different categories especially when two are not being used at the moment in time. I'm sure you're not going to get many on the day home supporters v certain teams.

Only a boycott from home and away POTD supporters would stop the insane prices imo. Unfortunately I still think a good proportion will pay it.

Our prices are not out yet. We have 3 sections - Gold, silver and bronze. Gold are on the half way line, and top tier behind the goals (I think). Silver are on the end of the stands. Bronze are where you cant see anything.

Gold - £625 (£27 per game)
Silver - £539 (£23.50 per game)
Bronze - £469 (£20.50 per game).

Individual prices are not out yet, as we then split this into categories. At a guess, I would say a category A game (Fulham, Brentford) would be pushing £40.

Nothing will change until people take serious action (which they won't.) Talks of boycotts are all well and good in practice but at the end of the day loyal supporters will still go week in week out. Those who set the prices take advantage of loyal customers who will pay high prices to watch, it's at least vaguely understandable in the FL but it's inexcusable in the Prem when gate receipts make up such a miniscule portion of total income, but ridiculous prices are charged because they know that ground will be almost full anyway.
