Thought we were a bit unlucky to be honest, at least we were much improved from Monday. Look forward to getting Hannah back up front and we'll be more of a threat. Luke George was excellent in the middle of midfield, his best performance to date and grabbed the goal too.

Guthrie is an arsehole for them, diving all over the shop, he'll do his back in if he keeps that up every week. Then you've got Pipe mouthing off to the family section as well, all 'top lads' though I'm sure.

Money can't buy class I suppose.
You looked ok, but were bullied out of it by Forest Green. They were much dirtier than I'd expected, all the diving, and the elbow that the ref missed. Less said about their away turn out the better. Nailed on 0-0 between us two next week by the look of it!

Unfortunately I correctly predicted our six-game unbeaten run coming to an end today in my post yesterday. A really poor performance, our worst of the season. Fortunate to be only a goal behind at half-time. We improved second half but were still below par. Jones's goal gave us some brief hope at the end although if we'd got a point out of that it'd have been totally undeserved.

Macclesfield's midfield was a lot better than ours. Won just about every second ball. They're a solid, hard-working unit and had a bit about them going forward. Looked a top 10 side. Perhaps should be taken with a pinch of salt given our performance though. No complaints about the result and the score line flatters us.

Frustrating game for us today. First 20 minutes was brilliant, I even looked at the odds in the hope we'd be between evens and 1/2 and lump on. Thankfully I didn't because we were 2/5. After that though Worcester started growing into the game and performed their game plan well.

We definitely need a new striker, we barely troubled their keeper, we've got 4 strikers, Odejayi who's more of a target man, who, is one week brilliant and almost unplayable, then today he was useless, the other 2 are just quick and work hard but are yet to score, and are best finisher plays out wide too often but is only 18/19 so can't expect him to be consistent.

Oh wait, we do have a natural finisher, but he's at Macc.

This could be the difference between going up or staying down, we'll play a lot of teams like Worcester so we need to pick up 3 points.

Better result today. Weird what playing the best players in their best positions can do. Still can't keep a clean sheet and to concede in 8 games in a row is diabolical. Hopefully Hurst realises that this is now the team to play.
Regarding Forest Greens start, to be 7 clear after 8 games is amazing. They will deffo be challenging at the end of the season. We know they can't keep that up and they are yet to play the better teams. Great start nonetheless.

Very unlucky to lose today. Racine should have gone. The referee was a complete tool. We were pressing for the winner when they did us with one over the top. We matched them for long periods. Gutted. About 40 away fans. pathetic. Btw ... well done Macclesfield beating the tinpot club.

I hate Pipe. Loathsome individual.

Don't you dare disrespect the National League player of the month like that. He's genuinely a top lad, great leader and role model.

And it's actually quite pathetic how obsessed some people are with attendances. ALL clubs at this level have crap attendances in the grand scheme of things. Stop the jealous whining and get a life.

60 then 50 now 40 lol Lets see how many get to see you at FGR next month, it wasnt many last August.

Anyway its what happens on the field that matters, you will find that its easier to find the ball when kicked into the crowd if theres less of them- its a green thing you know.

This is the Forest Green fantasy land logic where players get paid regardless of whether anyone turns up. It's not quite the same back in the real world, we actually pay our players wages here.

Ha, well played.

But the ignorance shined through in your previous post though, our players like most others rely on fans turning up to get paid, whereas in fantasy land.....

How many teams in league 2 "actually pay our teams wages" on gate receipts alone though,- Pompey I guess. League 1 upwards- nil . Maybe thats where Chester are going wrong though I think they will need to take care at not overdoing it...

Like those players who went on strike back in 2010 when we were meant to be playing you?

Your fans who turned up that night were well treated by us, despite the fact our club lost more money that night and although we were skint at the time and struggling badly several still felt sympathy donated a bit towards your trust. We know how football works at this level. At the moment things are going well, we're going to enjoy it.

So, are those players allowed to obsess over attendances considering how much it affected them, or should they 'get a life' as well?

missed the game through work, but radio Cumbria live commentary's are handy - Jason Walker got the winner right at the start after a push in the area. general consensus on Barrow forum and facebook status's were that that's the best we've played all season - Eastleigh had about 4 efforts all game.. and as per any team with Constable in it they were a pack of whining t*ssers

All this talk of attendees and 'proper clubs' is a bit silly. Most clubs in this division don't have great away followings, it's just a fact. It's really amusing that these 'proper clubs' like halifax can barely muster up 1400 at home, when 'tinpotters' like us average around the same. I personally don't think for example, FGR taking 300 to kidderminster is bad, 1/5 of our home gate. I can assure you some of the proper clubs away followings ratios are considerably smaller.

But they aren't, you and the other whingers are.

Our players are being paid on time, the inland revenue are being paid and so are our suppliers. In return Ecotricity are getting valuable exposure via their ownership/sponsorship of the club, which is basically seen as a loss leader. The set-up is working, although not everyone likes it, and with a £100m stadium complex on the way it doesn't look like the funding will be pulled any time soon.

Grimsby played like a team with promotion aspirations. Forced Edwards into a good few saves, Reynolds and Woodards both cleared off the line, thoroughly deserved winners. Doe's own goal was hilarious. Billy Clifford when he came on was a class above everyone on the pitch again, set up MacDonald for his goal, he's really a player to watch out for this season.

Boreham Wood played deep and pretty negative, tried to play some football in their half, but Grimsby were high intensity, high pressure and forced them to go long; where Crawford was dominated in the air and on the ground by the centre halfs. Their change to a weird 3-5-2 invited more space for Grimsby to get into, thoroughly deserved win.

Although whilst talking about attendances, excellent turn out from the Grimsby fans.

We played well until the referee disallowed our 4th goal which was hard to call whether the ball went out or not (it was close). After that we did the usual Aldershot thing of making a simple win as hard as possible. We never seem to get simple wins at home!

As for the Anderton challenge in the first half from where I was it looked like he was late but nothing more than that, but I was about 80 yards away from the incident so maybe I didnt have the best of views.

Yeah, you were good first half to be fair. It wasn't the fact it was late, it was high and out of control - took him half way up the shin.

It was very close to being out and I couldn't have called it either way to be honest. God knows how you let us back in to it!

So successful that it's taken you however many years to get out of here.

If that's success, what does failure look like?

I can't remember the last time we hit the woodwork as many times as we did today. Think I've read 6, 7, 8?
Grant Brown reckoned four times.
Played better than last week.
Thought Wood, Bush, Hawkridge and Rhead all played well for us.
Yet again we let a headed goal from set piece, JEEZ!!!

To be fair, only taking 40 to Chester is very poor, considering you're top of the league. We took about double that to Stalybridge 2 weeks ago (similar distance) :bg:

If our league positions were reversed, I'd imagine this would be put into proportion.

Another scrappy / scrapping 2-1 win. I have a feeling it's going to be a Jekyll and Hyde season.
