To be fair, only taking 40 to Chester is very poor, considering you're top of the league. We took about double that to Stalybridge 2 weeks ago (similar distance) :bg:
Don't do them a disservice, they actually brought about 50-60, mind you, Prescot Cables also did that.

Yeah, you were good first half to be fair. It wasn't the fact it was late, it was high and out of control - took him half way up the shin.

It was very close to being out and I couldn't have called it either way to be honest. God knows how you let us back in to it!

I'll have to have a look when the highlights come up as they are filmed from the south side and probably show a better view.

As for letting you back into it, I dont know why it is but over the years we always seem to make hard work of converting 2/3-0 leads into wins. We usually get over the line but make it a lot tougher than it should be.

If we had him we'd be in the top 2 at least. But he'll probably get injured in a few weeks like WHM says.
Hopefully full time training will help prevent that.

Wow stiffest neck ever alls they done was boom it long an play for throw ins, disgusting game good point away from home but should win.
"Alls they done" :dis:

Been posted on our forums already. Ironically enough, it was said style of play (although not as bad as Newton makes out), that made him his 'name' as one of, if not the, best LB's in the Conference.

If anything, he'd be better being in our team than Wrexham's.

Chorley 1 (Bond 36) 2 Alfreton (Johnston 74,Robertson 76)

Delighted with that result. Its the first time we have come from behind to win in ages! Our new Striker scored the winner on his debut too.

Couldnt make the game upfortunately. Decent attendance of 1143. What did our resident Chorley fan make of it?

So he is full time then? Someone on our forum reckons he's still PT as he's got a job.

If he is FT then yeah that could help his fitness.
I really don't see Askey taking him if not full time. And pretty sure he said in an interview when he signed that he was looking forward to the full time training again. No chance we'd take a part time loan player on and contribute to his wages.

Be good if someone could translate that Newton tweet into English.
He seems to forget he helped us play like that for the best part of two seasons.
He did very little today imho.

Newton's always been a gobby c***. He had plenty of bust ups with our fans during his spell here despite being our best player for two seasons, which says it all.

I'm already starting to get fed up of people moaning about our style of play. We've got Matt Rhead up front for fucks sake, we're not going to play like Swansea are we? It's as if there's never been a non-league side playing long ball before.

It's not like direct football is unheard of in this division either.

All in all happy with the point.

Not sure the "vision" constitutes being outplayed for 90 minutes by an out of form Barrow - the Bluebirds were immense today. One to 11 we outplayed them, and even though it was a penalty that decided it, we were so much better than them it was embarrassing for Eastleigh.
If we could convert possession into goals, we'd be pushing for a play-off place. My prediction of upper mid-table is looking back on.

Anybody who wants a point or 3 just hit the ball high into our box we can't defend anything in the air and it will be our downfall

Son of Cod - a Grimsby fan in Gwangmyeong? How did that happen? I thought my claim to fame was to be the only person from Grimsby who'd been to Korea! Had an apartment in Seoul for a couple of years while Mrs Bronx Mariner was working for Samsung Life.

God to see that GTFC finally converted some chances today! Living dangerously at the back though...
Hahaha, got bored of my job in England and decided to up sticks and move here to teach English. Was initially only supposed to be a year or two, but meeting a girl and switching jobs here has extended that into a third and now a fourth year. Looking at coming back to England next year maybe. Whereabouts in Seoul was your apartment? Gwangmyeong is on the Seoul Metro, essentially a connected satellite city of Seoul.

Made the decision to go play pool last night instead of listening to the match on the basis that if I stayed in and listened to it, we were bound to lose. In my slightly inebriated state last night, I was definitely taking some of the credit myself when my phone buzzed less than ten minutes after kick off to inform me that we were leading. Sounds like a decent win, only slightly blemished by the goal conceded.

Congratulations to FGR too, excellent start. Given yourselves a real leg up in the title race.

Same as us, another one conceded from a cross yesterday.

That shot that claim down pretty quick. Good work :)
The claim that higher league sides dont support their wages on gate receipts is a pretty crap claim as well due to the amount of extra TV and sponsorship money they receive. There are clubs run at a loss and propped up by an owner at all levels, but that doesn't negate the fact that for those that don't have a sugar daddy gate receipts are vital.

So successful that it's taken you however many years to get out of here.

If that's success, what does failure look like?

Most Rovers fans take nothing for granted, least of all success, and are still struggling to believe how this season has started in terms of results. For much of the time we have been in this division it has looked more likely that we would exit in the opposite direction, or even fold completely, so we have probably defied the odds by lasting so long. I suppose failure would have been a team called AFC Forest Green Rovers trying to navigate its way out of the county league structure to make it back to the National League.

Well done pal. For any side with title ambitions, a good start is imperative, as the conference is way different than the other leagues. A side can have a poor start in League 2 for instance, and yet will still go up if they finish strongly.

I think it was only Mansfield who got off to a bad start and still won the league, during Cambridge's 9 year connie stint.

I remember on Boxing Day 2012, we were 14 points behind whoever was top, it was either Grimsby or Wrexham, or both. We'd had a truly woeful 5 months and looked a bang average Conference side having one of those relentless bleak monotonous Conference seasons that we've all suffered. Tenth in the table, calls for the managers head for financial mismanagement and tepid displays; mid-table beckoning.

*Just to note after 8 games we'd won 4, lost 4, and in previous seasons teams pretty much won the league only losing perhaps 7 or 8 games, so the title was gone in our eyes.

On January 12 2013 we lost to Kidderminster at home and completed our first 23 games on 35 pts.
Then pretty much from out of nowhere suddenly everything clicked. Our last 23 games of the season was - Pld: 23, W: 20, D: 0, L: 3, Pts: 60.

Before January we never looked anything like championship material and although it took a monster run of results and a shift in form, it can be done. Don't give up in September.
Good luck to all of you.
