Frankly he is our best player by miles and was last season (as he was several years ago in his first stint). Surprised we kept hold of him.
Gilbey was excellent for us when we had him on loan 2012/13. Played half a dozen games at end of season including play off win v the Gogs. Was quality back then.

Notts good enough for County though. Sorry.

He was, just having him and Jones as your two wing backs is defensively suicidal and there was only ever going to be one winner in that argument. He’s a good player in this league.

Yeah we love little Azza, not sure anyone on this forum’s said otherwise.

…but it is ironic he’s found himself in a side that is eerily identical to the 23/24 Notts team

Don't think i've ever watched a game (barring Covid) where you can hear the players and coaches so clearly, the atmosphere is shocking

You know this role that Lemonheigh-Evans is doing terribly? That’s the role Dan Crowley’s really good at, MK should have just forked the money out for him imho

Noticed that, but it’s two completely soulless clubs playing each other so expected.

Try watching a game at Hays Lane with Bromley. They were just as bad as tonight's atmosphere.

Who knew that it was actually Stuart Maynard who was the manager of a tiny National League club making many passes that people needed to poach?

If they’re gonna insist on showing Salford, you’d think they’d have a game where there’s going to be more than 75 away fans.

Tbf there were no trains home thanks to another strike. So, coach to a ground we’ve been to before which is a crap away day, on Sky in shit form, and a 6 hour round trip, I’m surprised we took so many (231 for the record). And yes we have shit away support too.

Salford on the other hand with less than 2,000 home fans…points deduction imminent.

BBC are fucking shite aren’t they btw.

“Laurence Maguire - brother of England and Man United's Harry - has impressed with his crossing from the right tonight. This time he wedges one towards Luke Garbutt at the far post, who heads over. The winger might have nodded that one back across goal to create an easier chance for one of his team-mates.“

“A baseball-capped Harry Maguire is watching in the stands. Sibling Luke's going to have bragging rights in the family about three points and a clean sheet, if Salford can hang on.“

Luke’s crossing was impressive for Salford though you have to admit…Laurence Maguire for MK Dons was meh at the back.

Meh sums up Laurence Maguire's football skills in a general to a tee, tbh.

Luke Maguire is a tricky winger for Salford though. Big contributor to today’s success.

Financially doped club verses a club who shouldn't exist. I'd have been happier if Robinson hadn't been Salford's manager.

Regarding MKD, is anyone else getting shades of that expensive Notts team that was assembled that took them down? Hearing Harry Kewell has been added to the speed dial at the Stadium MK reception.

9/2 on Grimsby seems extraordinary. I'd say they have a better chance than that with Dunkley now out which now makes 3 centre backs missing. Possibly 2, Grimes might be back but he's not kicked a ball since last season. Might see Williams alongside Naylor which is slightly worrying.
That said I think it's kind of important we don't lose as 5 points from the first 5 games would signal a pretty poor start.
I reckon we've got a chance in this one but I could see it being a silly open game. We're gonna come and try and get on the ball and it might well either result in sucking you into a basketball match or we'll be so wide open you batter us. Both defences seem to be a bit suspect and missing players. I'd be less confident if we hadn't have just gone and played some lovely stuff against Bradford.

What I would say is that the 3 times you’ve played us at our place, we’ve had pretty shite teams so that’s probably played a part in it. Looking back though it’s really surprised me that we’ve only played eachother in two league games at our place since we moved stadiums which was back in 2010!!
Yeah, we went down for our first NL stint in 09/10 and came back up for that 16/17 season...seems mad that though. Always one I look forward to Chesterfield. Neither sets of fans under any delusion that we're proper rivals or anything but it's close enough to have a little bit of something about it. Usually fairly fiesty affairs with full away ends at both fixtures.

I don't think we're anywhere near one of the worst two teams in the league, we made Carlisle look terrible last week.

It's a funny one really. We've still got the same issues as last season when it comes to mentality and the 'big games' but last season under MW we were one of the best teams in the league. I fully believe when it clicks and the players understand one another we'll be one of the best teams in the league, we've just had a slow start (but even then you could argue we've been the better team in 3/4 league games).

Last night we started 1 player, not including Tripp as he was simply a youth player, that also started in the Wrexham away game last season. 3 players that started against Crawley in the Play Off Semi Finals. It'll take time for them to all settle with such a large turnover.

50% of Dons league games have been against teams run by formef managers. Are there any more in this division?

Such a slow game of football last night, it was like watching a training session at times.

Just from what I've read about them, MK's lack of decent possession was a surprise and the midfield, or team generally, had little to no physicality about them. The ex-Crawley lad was a disgrace in his obvious lack of defensive work (Salford's goal being a perfect example).

It was honestly the first league game that I've seen where we looked second best, and even then we probably should have won it with some of our chances (Hendry's especially).

Kelly is so odd, he was arguably the best player in the league last year and yet he's been poor for us so far. We probably rushed him back last night as Carroll was injured however.

I reckon you might be right there about it being open. It would be good to see how we do against a team who come and have a go as most of our games so far teams have just sat in. Not that attack isn't usually the plan, but probably doubly so with the CB pairing being 5th choice guy and a midfielder. Should be an an entertaining affair.
