I'd be fine with Sheridan. I don't think the squad needs any tactical saviour, just an old hand who can organise it a bit better defensively and then the attacking players we have should be able to do the rest. Seems a strong enough character to drop the likes of Smith and Carroll too.

Not sure what he'll make of the foreign contingent. Aborah is class so will you'd assume stay in the first team as a key player, the rest? Dunno. Snijders deserves more game time and Amevor is another whose hardly had a chance weirdly considering how good he was in the opening game. Sprockel and Jenner might as well catch the first flight back to Holland. Swerts is a solid utility player whose style seems to fit the lower leagues quite well so he can stick around.

I also want to see Filip Valencic grace The first team at least once before he inevitably goes and plays in the Bulgarian 2nd division.

I think most reasonable thinking folk following League 2 realise that with a sensible wily head at the helm then there is no reason why Notts County can't still march up the table and even get promoted. Barring the top places it seems that nobody else is really consistent enough to cling to a play off place, and with the resources at a new managers disposal then any incoming manager has a leap on their rivals.

Surely it's just a matter of shoring up the defensive side, which I do realise is easier said than done; however, we already have a Notts defender on our loan books that should improve their haphazard defensive frailties and hasn't looked out of place in one of the meanest backlines in the division.

On the whole I'd imagine the Moniz sacking is good news for County and not such good news for everyone else. They can't get worse, they should get better.

Aye I would imagine the new guy will recall Blair, not before time too IMO, although Milsom has looked very good at LB.

Surely a new guy will also recognise that we can't compete with Smith in midfield though and probably move Milsom there.

I still have no idea what our best formation is either. We've got good central midfielders but lack wingers big time and need to shoehorn three strikers in. 3-5-2 would probably make sense.

He'd be our left wing back, probably.

Sheridan now 1/2

Still thinks it's a little premature and more than likely people just betting on the favourite while he was still around Evens. No movement before Saturday anyway, be interesting to see how his pre/post match stuff at Newport plays out

Sheridan and Wilder aside (would they leave?), they are awful options. Cooper's small spell at Swindon is the only good thing he's done isn't it?

There's loads of reasons why Sheridan would, it's a more attractive job even putting aside the location.

Exactly this. Didn't he leave Plymouth as he wanted to move further north? Then he joins us so that still stands. Notts would probably be ideal for him at the moment.

Sheridan's interview today kind of said it all. Apparently his contract is a rolling one too so we wouldn't have to pay compensation

Yep by refusing to say he's interested on not kind of says it all. It's JE all over again for us. Just hope it's all done with quickly so we can get someone else in sharpish to continue the good work he started.

We've recalled Scot Bennett early now, I wonder.

Just to have a full range of centre-back options on Saturday, I assumed.

Then again, taking him away from Newport 2 days before a game wouldn't be the best way to butter Sheridan up if he were on the fence...or he said no and we've recalled Bennett out of spite.

or, it's pointless reading anything into it.

They tumbled on Darren Purse yesterday for some reason too so pinch of salt with all these I reckon. Whenever someone knows owt, the odds often go to at least 2/5

Slater says 8 on shortlist, interviews next week. Mackay not one of them.

Slater is often wrong though

Sheridan is probably exactly what we need. Aside from the defence the squad has the quality to still challenge for play offs. It just needs organising and to cut out the stupid errors. Drop Carroll and half of those will disappear

Wilder the latest whose odds have shot in from nowhere, after Ian Baraclough yesterday.

Not sure they know anything yet tbh.

Paul Hurst is the next one, then. Looks likely we'll be going for someone in work, anyway.

God no. Nowhere near a Football League Manager. You might as well go for bloody Nicky Law at Alfreton if your looking at him.

If your asking which Non League manager I think would be a success in the FL then I would say Danny Cowley at Braintree would be a good shout. Took Concord Rangers from the essex Senior League to the brink of the Conference South Play offs on the smallest of budgets.. Now has Braintree in the promotion race this season (when they play games) and as high as 3rd in November. Worth a punt for sure but of course probably no chance he would relocate to Notts. Someone like Daggers/Colchester will take him.
