He's simply an awful poster. Wouldn't be so intolerable if he was actually funny or a good WUM, unfortunately he is neither.
I disagree , his posts are generally in good humour and he takes a lot of unnecessary shit and wind ups . Normally with good grace .

This refers to both GTFC1979, Sparrow and Chris FGR.

To both? I'm confused as you've then listed three of us. As I wasn't involved with the Away Support thread being locked I'm guessing you accidentally included myself and instead were just referring to GTFC1979 and Chris FGR? Just trying to get this cleared up for the good of the forum.

Cheers, people like Master D were obviously born with no sense of humour.
I will try not to lose too much sleep over what such a happy soul as him thinks of me.
Everytime anyone puts anything remotely bad about me Master D 'likes' it, what a very sad and lonely life he must have.

Gentlemen gentlemen. Let's not ruin this thread. It was once the best thread on the Internet.

Please spare me the English lesson. I know exactly what both means.Thank you very much I made a typing error which I have now corrected/

I am not referring to the Away Support Thread closure. I included you as I think Nansans comments which I quoted also apply to yourself.

And no I am not just picking on you because you like to the take the piss out of my club.

A few points if I may. Thank you.

1) Master D doesn't do humour, he's all for sarcasm, and he's very good at it actually.
2) I don't mind GTFC1979 at all. Sometimes he posts crap and sometimes he posts something funny, just like the majority on this forum then.
3) I actually find it a bit hard to take when Sparrow takes the piss out of Alfreton. His club once took all of 15/20 fans to the The Shay. Now, the Shaymen were generous and quoted something like 50 Woking fans, but I watched the game on BT Sport, and it was clear there weren't more than 20 at the game. Perhaps the other 30 didn't find their way to the ground?

But this is nothing, a couple of weeks back, they had 1675 fans for the Welling home game. 'Tinpot' FGR had a better home attendance on the day. 'Nuff said.

4) I don't agree with any type of censorship or banning, as my principles don't allow this, however if the mods feel the need to ban someone, then I suggest banning those posters who literally disappear from the forum when their ahem big side goes through a rough patch. Needless to say, they all start posting again once they beat some part time side.

Sorry for posting on this thread, but the away one is locked :ffs:

Pretty sure Sparrow is taking the piss, thought that much was obvious.

We thought that about LHD for about the first 6 months...

I'm not weighing in on this, save to say:
1. It's not entertaining for the forum, so I'd rather it was stopped
2. It's fitting that it's on the "Most tinpot" thread

I think it's clear Sparrow's posts are in jest, after all he's one of the biggest wums on this board, so highly unlikely he's being serious when he's calling for GTFC to be banned.

Re. point 1. Needless to say, you have a right to your opinion, but I think it's very hard for someone to say whether a post is entertaining or not.

That is true tbf. He does need to up his percentages though.

Very good post overall. You talk a bit too much sense. :2thumb:

Sadly that will not be hapenning now, i am taking an extended break from 1FF.
Nice that before i go people are actually starting to talk sense about me at last, but i had already got to the point that i can't be arsed with it all anymore, so that is it from me. Au Revoir.

Go on then, I'll 'bite'.

I can guarantee you there wasn't '15/20' of us at Halifax. A shoddy, if lazy, attempt at a dig at our away support. You could have used the away game at Gateshead that was rearranged for a Wednesday, a week into January, last season in which we took single figures.

With regard to FGR getting a bigger attendance than us vs Welling on the same day. Sigh, you failed to mention that FGR were offering a kids-go-free scheme for that match. The fact that they were top of the league might have helped too. And lets not forget that we averaged 1900 last season. Forest Green? Just 1500.

So all in all, work to be done on your 'wumming'. You may consider this a 'bite', and in fact you would only embarrass yourself further if you did, but I felt it necessary to point out where you lost marks with your post.

Feel free to ask questions although I'd much prefer it if we got the Tinpot thread back on track.

I think a lot of people take the forum a bit too seriously which is mainly the reason I chip in with an annoying comment or two. It's interesting seeing what other fans have to say about their team and games on here and it's certainly much easier than having to find and go through their club's own forum for their views. Just if some people could lighten up a bit it would be nice.

Love how the article ignores the huge wads of cash thrown at established players and suggests it's all down to the young hidden gems (do FGR have any?) that their statistical analysis brought through.

Maybe we're not the moneybags everyone seems to think?;)

Tbh I can't think of too many young hidden gems either, Kurtis Guthrie is possibly one, although I got the impression at the time that Pennock's Welling connections are what alerted him to his ability/potential, rather then any sort of moneyball data.

Not a big fan of the system, this isn't FM and judging players on stats alone shouldn't be the be all and end all.

I think you've hit the nail on the head there. After the success of Moneyball I think a lot of people went over the top with statistical analysis. It can certainly help but a game like football is very different than Baseball, where players have very rigid roles. That said I remember watching a documentary about Dynamo Kiev in the early 90s and taking a similar approach they built the Shevchenko/Rebrov team.

Pennock strikes me as a pretty analytical guy and his FGR certainly seem better drilled than the previous regime. So it wouldn't surprise me if he looks for very specific types of players to fill certain roles. The recruitment in the summer showed this as you weren't just buying the 'big' names like previous seasons.

I noticed watching Sky Sports' Transfer Centre, that they were using a data model that top scouts now deploy, which basically rates each of a player's attributes out of 20. For example they compared Anthony Martial's ratings to Javier Hernandez's, with for example their composure rating being given as 12 and 13 respectively.

For me this is far too subjective, to put an exact number on an attribute like that is difficult, especially in what is a fairly narrow scale, and will depend greatly on lots of other variables, some including a players personal mindset at any given time on any given day.

Players are not robots, and can't have every part of their game accurately represented by numbers alone.

They've drawn you in with their lies - they were actual football manager stats. It was ridiculous aha.

Agree completely with everything you say though. Stats mean nothing on their own - all about the context.

Right on. Maybe there needs to be another non-league moderator. 80% of the people on this very page of this thread need to just stop.

Just wanted to point out, that when Barrow went to FGR this season, those that went said there was never 1,200 in attendance (as was given as the official figure), and that even FGR fans had *apparently* told them that it's common knowledge they just pluck a figure from thin air.
I'm inclined to believe this sort of thing goes on, mainly because we used to do the same, but the opposite way around - play down the attendance figure! Whether it was for tax reasons, or whatever, I don't know - but it's pretty tinpot.

I'm here now DSL, it's all in hand.

Back on topic (and if your only contribution is to WUM then don't bother)... there were a dozen or so Hayes supporters clad in what looked like lads on tour shirts, one of whom had a megaphone on him, unfortunately there's no point using one when only 15 supporters join in.

Yes, I totally agree. I think a lot of non-league clubs, my own included, are guilty to have occasionally added on a few more or less to their attendance. I guess it's something that makes non-league so unique, lying about the amount of people watching a football match! Quite a few times I've been stood on the terraces when the attendance has been announced and thought it was wrong. The usual shouts of: "where are they all hiding?" then follow from those around me.

I do believe, though, Halifax were right on that occasion Woking visited.
