Fuck that, SoC's a bellend. All offence intended. My sincere apologies to SOC if thats the case. I did not mean to cause any offence.
Just wanted to point out, that when Barrow went to FGR this season, those that went said there was never 1,200 in attendance (as was given as the official figure), and that even FGR fans had *apparently* told them that it's common knowledge they just pluck a figure from thin air.
I'm inclined to believe this sort of thing goes on, mainly because we used to do the same, but the opposite way around - play down the attendance figure! Whether it was for tax reasons, or whatever, I don't know - but it's pretty tinpot.
That's not true as it's all computerised now, everyone has to scan into the ground using a barcode on ticket, member card, barcode text to phone etc. They had some issues for a game or two with the scanners when they first introduced it the season before last, and people were being let through without counting, but that would have undercounted. But I think it's supposed to be very accurate now.
Crowds often seem a lot higher than reality, especially at certain grounds. Why would anyone do that though
Braintree and Eastleigh have repeatedly been accused of doing that.
I think Eastleigh include, or have been accused of including, season ticket holders in their attendance when they aren't there.
Right. I think this has rumbled on for long enough. And its spoiling one of the finest threads on the forum
Could those with disagreements or vendettas please take them to PM?
Anyone who wants to have the final word will face a temporary suspension.
To SOC and anybody else who is unhappy with my Modding and think you can do a better job feel free free top send the Admin a PM asking to become part of the team.
I can remember when England were playing and Bradford vs Shrewsbury were on at around the same time. The attendance got announced at something like 15k when Sky were on air and the reporter had a look around and reckoned there was no more than 6/7k there. That's what most Football League clubs do.
I think some of the possible discrepancies at this level would come when corporate are added on. At a lot of grounds they just enter via reception and not a turnstile - leaving the opportunity to add or not add as many to the attendance as a club wishes. As far as I know, our attendances have always been turnstile clicks like so:
Pennock strikes me as a pretty analytical guy and his FGR certainly seem better drilled than the previous regime. So it wouldn't surprise me if he looks for very specific types of players to fill certain roles. The recruitment in the summer showed this as you weren't just buying the 'big' names like previous seasons.
Our signings definitely seem to based on specific criteria and how they fit into the set-up and system we play now, rather then just randomly signing big names. The team now seem to properly know their roles, which has led to us being very organised and well drilled, a big reason behind our brilliant start. We also have a lot of like for like players who can seamlessly slot in without there being any real impact on how the team plays. All in all, it seems a more intelligent approach to squad building has worked better then Hockaday's scattergun method. It should also prove a bit cheaper.

Barrow is brilliant. Last time we played them they ran out of change in the away end so were asking if you had the correct money and if not they let you in for free
Indeed it does, around these parts people are more used to chasing cheese...which makes a break from chasing eggs, and at least you can eat it if you catch one!The Frome Cheese show does sound better than watching Frome v Chippenham.

Sort of like West Country Pokemon?
It does look like a great way to break your neck and legs!Yeah a bit. Even though I like cheese there is no way I would chuck myself off Coopers Hill, which isn't far off a cliff face, in the vain hope that I might catch one.
