Borehamwood's one after their defeat to Carlisle Utd in the FA Cup a couple of seasons ago runs it close. Teapot gate...
http://www.borehamwoodfootballclub.co.uk/boreham-wood-fc-replies-to-laughable-accusation/

Haha. The fact that most paragraphs end with a double full stop is great, and the repeated use of "complete non-story" - I love it.
We had a pretty cringeworthy one a few years back, when a Macclesfield player said he received monkey chants at Holker Street - can't see the press release online anymore, but here's a quote from it:

"Barrow Secretary / Director, Russell Dodd said "We deplore any kind of racism, there is no place for it anywhere in society. We have worked very hard over the last few years with our links with the "Kick it out" campaign. Our fans have generally been superb in this regard and have if anything displayed positive racial discrimination, with any black players at the club being hero-worshipped whatever their ability in the team."

This is amazing. Love that the author opens with "with this perhaps being the biggest non story of all time" before embarking on an angry rant littered with grammar and punctuation errors and supported by photographic evidence (those photos)! Did anything ever come of this? Seeing as it's Boreham Wood FC I'd personally be inclined to believe in the veracity of the allegations...

Imran Ladak of Kettering didn't like us after our FA Cup tie(s) about 8 years ago. He came out with all sorts for several weeks and just wouldn't shut up. I particularly like his final paragraph in this one, though.

I was at the game, and there were actually more Kettering arrests at that game than Lincoln. If you remember their ground, to the right of the away end there was that tin shed thing and a load of blokes just wanted to fight for 90 minutes.

From memory, a Kettering fan was charged and then cleared because the court couldn't be sure whether the gestures were at the Lincoln bench or Lincoln supporters.

Suffice to say we lost the replay to a last minute winner.

Kettering Town Chairman Imraan Ladak has issued the following statement on their Official Club website www.ketteringtownfc.co.uk:

" At this moment in time, despite our best endeavours, there is no evidence that a single supporter (either from Kettering or Lincoln City) racially abused the Lincoln bench. In fact, our investigation points to quite the opposite.

"Peter Jackson spent much of Saturday`s game acting in an inappropriate manner, which included trying to intimidate the officials, kicking television cables and encouraging his players to feign injury. When this didn`t work, he turned his attention away from the game and tried to incite our supporters, who showed great restraint, despite the provocation from Peter Jackson and I congratulate them for this.

"Many supporters, managers and Chairman around the country will know that Lincoln City have a very ugly element within their "support", which is why we had to have such a large police presence at the game. Many Lincoln fans were misbehaving on Saturday, before, during and after the game. On the other hand our supporters behaved themselves, under the most difficult of circumstances, yet Peter Jackson`s illegitimate claims have managed to create headlines that have tarnished our clubs good name.

"If the Lincoln bench had been subjected to any form of racism (from a Kettering or Lincoln supporter), I am sure the fourth official, one of our players, one of our stewards or one of our supporters must have heard or seen it too.

"Several Chairman in non league football have had had to phone me to apologise for the racial abuse I have suffered at games and to thank me for not making an issue that would have besmirched the name of their club as a whole, due to a very small and unwelcome minority.

"I now have a very cynical view, shared by many of our supporters and officials about the reasons for Peter Jackson`s post match comments. If his allegations prove to be unfounded, I hope he apologises in the public domain, with the same enthusiasm, as he made the allegations on Saturday. I also thank Peter Jackson and his stooges for their pre-match comments via the media that motivated our players to perform so well on Saturday.

"In the meantime, Kettering`s "bank-rolled bruisers" look forward to our big day out at Sincil Bank and the rare opportunity to experience a warm shower, a Wembley-like playing surface, their hospitable supporters whilst praying that we can keep the margin of defeat down to single digits before the mighty and angelic Lincoln City can move on to play a game against their local rivals in the next round."

That's not tinpot, that's happened many times before, including in the top division.

Why is it tinpot?

Having no fourth official and having to announce to a crowd if anybody with the relevant qualifications can run the line?

Might have happened in the past but entirely different now. Ridiculous not having a fourth official tbh.

It sounds tinpot when announced, but does actually happen a fair bit.

The referee at Woking today had to be replaced at half time because he was related to one of the home players. His bias didn't stop him sending off a Cards player however. Does this qualify?

The liner's flag fell off its stick at FC United today too, but the poor chap was too embarrassed to stop play and fit it back on again, preferring to wave a naked stick around for the rest of the half.

Also disappointed to see my new Woking badge reads "Pide et Diligentia" rather than "Fide...". What on earth do Wokingians get up to during double Latin?

https://www.change.org/p/tranmere-r...ranmere-fans-get-tranmere-to-sign-adam-dawson

Tranmere fans setting up a petition to try and sign Adam Dawson.

The obsession with petitions for everything is getting out of hand. At some point there'll be a petition to "play x in a left-wing back role not a left-back role" etc.
What do these idiots think will happen? Wirral council to force Tranmere to sign him?

There's a comment on there that's probably indicative of the level of intellect we're dealing with: "I wamt promation"

I remember that. It was Nat Brown who was the target. Could hear from match commentary the monkey noises being made. I'm sure it was meant to be going further but nothing ever came of it. I remember the well written statement above though!!

Victory for the fans, really. As much as the bankrolled concern they support is quite farcical, at least they've acted to save the identity of their club.
Seems not http://whitehawkfc.com/club-statement-name-change/

''John Summers concluded by saying, ‘Nobody should have had any doubts about the club’s aspirations, all of the investors and members had voted for it, however we have listened to the fans. They have made it very clear to us that if we are changing our name they prefer other options such as ‘Brighton Whitehawk’ or ‘Brighton East End’ so we will all have a beer together and work to build the club’'

Sounds like the fans were just moaning cos they didnt like the suggested name...its nothing to do with the name having to stay as Whitehawk

Dunno what there fans have been moaning about. Brighton City sounds a lot better then either of the 2 suggestions the Hawk Ultras want

This statement by their chairman made me laugh
''Chairman John Summers said ‘ The club and its members have had numerous meetings as a club over the past few seasons and it was unanimously agreed that a name change would be required in order to widen the clubs appeal and to embrace the city as a whole. Our target of an average gate of 1000 regular fans to provide sustainability is still achievable.’'

Good luck with that!! no chance they suddenly gain another 7-800 regular fans....the people of Brighton wont give a crap about Shitehawk no matter what the team is called

Fair enough, couldn't be arsed to actually read any articles on it. As you say though, they're screwed if they expect fans to suddenly turn up. Brighton Whitehawk could work imo, has a nice cadence to it, but allegedly they've never even played in the Whitehawk district...
