It is quite depressing seeing that list. There are a lot of substantial, traditional non-league clubs in there who have gone by the wayside, to be replaced by hobby clubs.Just for laughs, the inaugural season of the Alliance Premier League 1978/79 ended like this:
1. Altrincham.
2. Weymouth.
3. Worcester City.
4. Boston United.
5. Gravesend & Northfleet.
6. Maidstone United.
7. Kettering Town.
8. Northwich Victoria.
9. Bangor City.
10. Nuneaton.
11. Scarborough.
12. Yeovil Town.
13. Telford United.
14. Barrow.
15. Wealdstone.
16. Bath City.
17. Barnet.
18. A P Leamington.
19. Stafford Rangers.
20. Redditch United.

A handful of survivors. Mixed fortunes for the rest.
One of the negative effects of automatic promotion to the Football League I suppose.
