With Macclesfield signing players & the fixtures out tomorrow, that means the rumoured demotion to NLN isn't happening?

The same American based backers that were interested in Pools.
Do you know why they were turned away, and who they are? This could be a total blessing for us.

It won't be them. "Well known investors".

Seems legit this though and worth pursuing.

Our chairman was 'insulted' by their offer for the club, he's pumped in about £2m over the last two/three years(?) and seemingly wanted a lot of it back, this consortium were looking to invest in a club in England and were pointed in Pools and your direction.

No idea who the two figureheads are, but the Americans were/are linked to that FSG that's at Liverpool, not sure in what way, probably the owners, boyfriends, dog groomer.

Few rumours floating about why.
One was that they offered a pittance for the club,
Another was the club only meet with representatives & the prospective new owners were unknown.
Of two of the names that were mentioned involved in the take over, one was banned from football for a year.

Thanks both. I have a strong feeling we will vote this initial resolution through so we shall find out soon enough who they are.

I've had a look at the thread about this on Redpassion & it is not the same consortium the twitter link is regarding to.
That one was in 2019.

It's hard to contain my excitement, even though hope regularly kills you when you are a Wrexham fan. If this goes through it could be a real turning point.

The trust would never release a statement like that unless it was legit investors to be honest would they. They absolutely love investigating dodgy potential buyers and digging dirt up, they do it for fun.

Sounds like it'll get voted through to negotiations and if these white knights keep their promises it'll happen. Saying that, I feel anyone who is thinking of investing in a football club at this moment in time should take a psychiatric test, if they come through that then ok proceed.

Probably been asked before but what are Wrexham's assets? I didn't think they owned their stadium or training ground so if not, why would someone put £2m in?

We basically have none, but we do have a decent core fan base so less money would need to be pumped in to make us a success than the likes of Forest Green and Fleetwood who have lower gate income.

Weve got a 99 year lease on the ground, and we are working towards getting a permanent training ground with the Council at an old school site in town. There is also an undertaking from Welsh Government and others (the Council and University) for redevelopment of the Kop as part of a wider regeneration development. In terms of material assets though we've got less than a lot of clubs. Less to strip of course, which is a good thing.

Im hoping that whoever it is sees us as a football project. We don't have any debt, we've got a decent fanbase too so there is potential to grow something, also the potential of North Wales from an academy point of view.

Yeah this is a far better answer than mine.

Ah yeah, I understand all of that. Just that from a business point of view (and I know there's no returns on 'investing' in a football club...), that's a lot of money to be putting into a Club who actually don't own anything at the minute.

Perhaps more understandable if they're local supporters done good.

If the vote next week allows the board to open negotiations then the identities, and hopefully more idea of their intentions will become apparent.

Spencer Harris has said in the local press:

When asked why people would want to invest in a non-league club given the current economic climate, Harris added: "That will be a question for them.

"But the people who are involved are very community focussed and like the idea of taking a community and its football club, taking an underdog, and giving it a real opportunity to progress."

We shall see!

I hope it works well for Wrexham, they clearly need change to become a established FL club again.

Just don’t get too comfortable if they come in and invest big, that’s what happened at Notts County, they were the last fans to see the warning signs with Alan Hardy, don’t think they clicked on till he got his cock out on twitter.

Very sad news, but demonstrates that the EFL made the right decision, and that the NL should have paid closer attention, even if that meant reprieving Fylde.

it would be Ebbsfleet - and i wonder if they would still reprieve them at this late stage - to avoid both the NL and NLS running with odd numbers of teams?

It would you're right - and I hope they do, but it's probably too late now that the fixtures have been announced. There was no reprieve when Salisbury went under late in the day in 2014 (I think).

We were due a friendly at Ebbsfleet Saturday, but it disappeared off the club fixture list this morning [before the macc decision though]

i guess if they did they would just have to accept Maccs fixtures as a like for like replacement

We were due to play Macc on Saturday buts that’s gone now and will be almost impossible to get someone else at this late stage, hope to see them back in some form soon.

Anyone who keeps an eye out for this kind of thing... you can get a bizarre 40/1 on Kyle Wootton to be top goalscorer next season.

He was joint sixth when the season ended despite only signing for us after the first month had finished, will start pretty much every game for us and has been taking penalties during pre-season after both of our regular takers last year left.

I’d still have McCallum and Rooney up there ahead of him, but there’s no way he should be 40/1 if anyone is tempted!

Did they pay out on top scorer bets last season before it was killed?

Rooney's had his purple patch now - I'd be surprised if he gets double figures.
