It's starting to look a bit shite for Wrexham but the positives are this league, as a whole, is garbage this year and it doesn't take much to move up the table cos it's that tight, everyone is taking points off everyone, well, other than Ebbsfleet who lose every weekend and Chorley who look like they're gonna draw their way back to the North.

I've been told that Wrexham are very keen to take Ryan Barnett off us on loan in January (apparently they tried to sign him in late August aswell) but Ricketts is reluctant to let him go back down to non league as he'd rather Barny get games in League 2. So maybe that'll happen, who knows? Hopefully it doesn't happen as he's quite a decent young player and I'm not gonna lie, enjoying seeing Wrexham in even more turmoil than usual!!

This is getting worrying. Wrexham have had a horrible start. We may see them more likely to escape this division in the wrong direction. Im sure they will pick up but a National League, blue square Premier, Vanarama National Manarama National, etc would not be the same without one its founder members and mainstays. Sort it out Wrexham!
I know Wrexham have been here for over 10 years now, but this league was founded in 1979 and Wrexham were not founder members... Barrow, Yeovil, Ebbsfleet (then Gravesend and Northfleet) and Barnet were all founder members.

Halifax, Stockport, York, Chester, Darlington, Torquay, Aldershot can all testify how easy it is now for a Great and Historic Football League club to leave this God forsaken league by the wrong end. I love Wrexham, but I'd love to see Master D humiliated by a relegation more.

We are absolutely abysmal and have players who don't give a shite and would easily take us down which makes January a huge month, we need about half a team to come in. Keates needs to be on the blower ready. Oswell should never be seen again, off back to the Welsh Prem that lad.

Literally the only target now is to stay up.
Lifted themselves for your cup final though, didn't they. :bdick:

I'm big enough to admit Harrogate are a good side, as they should be given the money that's being chucked in. Money alone doesn't guarantee success though, so it's only fair to acknowledge Weaver is an excellent manager. I've been saying this since last season too.

Sooner or later though, Mr Money bags will realise Harrogate would rather spend the afternoon pretending to be posh in a nice tea shop, than watching the working man's game. :£:£:£

Think the journalist/Weaver has a point. Aside from the first 5 minutes I thought we were pretty poor on Saturday, and once Harrogate settled had most of the possession in the first half. It wasn't Barcelona, but it was effective and expecting teams to play pretty, expansive football away from home this year is naive. Despite the result, the highlights alone show we had enough chances to win the game and Harrogate didn't create an awful lot even with a lot of the ball in the middle. Teams won't roll over like Woking did the previous Tuesday, and we needed to be a lot more clinical in the final third. Sarll would have been better off just admitting we weren't very good and look to bounce back on Saturday.

Sarll seems to go out of his way to say provocative things. Harrogate aren't generally a team of big lumps (with the exception of Mark Beck)

Plus does Sarll seriously think an away teams Manager is gonna say to his players, ‘Just go out there and entertain the home fans lads and fuck the result’.

Don't forget it was in front of 3,200. The biggest crowd the Conference has ever seen.

Sarll was very complimentary about us when we beat them. I like the cut of his jib, pulls no punches and says it how it is.

Nobody even knows who this Sarll fella is but an argument between Yeovil and Harrogate belongs firmly in the tinpot thread.

We're in the tinpot league it's all tin pot.
Away games have been strange, a gentle walk across the rugby pitch at Dover and a pint in their welcoming clubhouse, a stroll round the park at Sutton to the away end, the single portaloo at Harrogate. The games are important but the serenity of the surroundings lulls you into thinking it's just a bit of fun and the result is neither here nor there. In slightly less tin pot L2 even with small gates there's anticipation whether a promotion push or if it's going badly relegation worry. it definitely feels like theres more patience down here.

It’s not patience is just that for a lot of clubs here it’s neither here nor there if they win or not and that’s what makes it hard for ex FL sides. It’s a cultural adaptation. We’re down here for various reasons but whatever tinpotters say, there’s definitely a proper club thing going on, with expectations and demands to get out of this cesspit. Same can’t be said about 75% of the league who don’t have a ‘real’ support base. It’s just a bit of a jolly for them and the crap defeats in front of 500 or 1000 is depressing but you’ll win the league so nowt to worry about.

Whilst they are improving I don't think Notts will win the league;- it's very hard to win 1st season down here. At this stage probably about 9 or 10 teams probably think they can win the league. Notts, Wrexham, Chesterfield and Stockport fans (to a lesser extent) might think they are entitled to be up there fighting for the title because they are seen as the "bigger" clubs in the league, but only 1 of them is in the play-off places and the other 3 are in the bottom 8.
Saying 75% of the teams don't have a "real" support is a wild exaggeration;- Fylde, Boreham Wood, Ebbsfleet(?) and Harrogate wouldn't be here without backing from outside the core football revenue, but everyone else does have a fan base.

Granted 75% is an exaggeration but the amount of fans down here who are 2CWs is very high. No one has a divine right to be up there and I don’t expect Pools to be pissing the league but I expect us to be competitive bearing all in mind. The post wasn’t a gripe btw, we all deserve to be here but the Notts fan is right, off the field it’s a lot more sedate and lacks the edge you get in the FL.

the banter between the fans is usually much better here, the ex EFL sides realise that after a month or so when they're not 10 points clear, find it's harder than they expected and come off their high horses.... I'm not including Yeovil in that as I've always classed them as a non-league side as they were fellow founder members of this league and our 1st opponents in it.

Sorry, forgot anything not related to the behemoths of Wrexham and their fellow Brotherhood members should automatically be relegated to 'tinpot' material. ;)

Thanks for the warm welcome from everyone. The lack of pretentiousness is certainly part of the charm of non-league. I grew up with a Yeovil side that celebrated their non-league/FA giant-killing history and found my support tested when we won the Conference and worked our way through the leagues as the professional footballers and infrastructure came across as cold and far-removed from the more 'grounded' players and opposition fans you could have a lot of banter with in the Conference/ICIS.

A number of our fans, me included, are quite enjoying being back at this level. It's all more down to earth.

I see that you were concentrating on the Cup when you were off checking the Harrogate Advertiser :fl:

The bloke who wrote the article and the paper themselves tweeted links to it this morning and used our hashtag so it appeared in our fans' timelines. As you're so obsessed with it i'll attach a screenshot

I'd give up now if I were you before you dig yourself an even bigger hole.
