Yeah I’m with you on that, right up until their goal it was all us, we were in total control, James looked decent first half but totally lacking any support, I dunno what Holt brings to their team, grossly out of shape, just whinges and gives away fouls, give James a proper strike partner and I reckon they’ll have themselves a chance of stopping up.

Was totally against Bates taking over but they’ve actually done alright, the players seem to have a plan, playing some neat stuff and having pops at goal which under Harrison was a rare sight.

Yep - problem for us is that even though we were in control until their goal, you knew it was only a matter of time before Harrison fucked up and let James have a chance at goal. Hopefully his injury keeps him out for the rest of the season, and he can go and sign for Salford next year. The rugby team that is.

Massive credit to Bates and staff from me. Made some small, obvious, but effective changes. And they appear to be working so far. Frustrating that Craig Harrison couldn't have done the same back in December, though.

I was having horrible flashbacks from us in our first and second seasons down here watching Barrow/Hartlepool last night. Them performances where you're so far away from being anything resembling a decent side you wonder whether it'll end up happening again.

Surprised by the lack of fight from Barrow in the second half. Hartlepool weren't exactly penning them in or anything. Just seem a lethargy about them.

Not aided by the Barrow 'keeper, obviously. That was a reminder of the general low standard of goalkeeping in the NL. That position is probably the biggest difference between the NL and FL IMO. You get that used to 'keepers not saving much in the NL that it's a bit of a shock when FL 'keepers actually save things, even if they're not particularly difficult ones to make.

Having seen the penalty Macc were given against Sutton (which is as things stand technically the difference between the two sides) it's hard to say they're being 'reffed out' of the title. All teams will suffer (or at least believe they will suffer) poor decisions over the course of a long season.

3 points between 1st and 2nd with 8 games left sums this season up, no team has ever looked like running away with it. And proves that this division is to tough to call
Are you Paul Doswell? Was an absolute stonewall penalty.

Having seen the clip again, I agree if by stonewall penalty you mean stonewall dive. Not that it matters, all teams get poor decisions for and against them over the course of a season. Only the very childish would disagree

That penalty was only soft because it was a stupid and completely unnecessary foul.

He needed to make changes at the end of August let alone a December. So out of his depth it’s unreal. Batesy can make changes even while taking pics of his infamous cock screaming ‘call me master’ and there’s the difference

Yeah it is depressing being here and where we are but that second half is about as close to total football as we’ve played all season

Really hope Macc don't mess this up, I want them to win the title so that we don't have to play them next season as they always beat us.

This Macclesfield and Sutton rivalry is really ramping up on here. Both getting very tetchy as they prepare for Tranmere to motor past them to the title.

Never been a title race like it. Two behemoths of non league football going tooth and nail in front of massive crowds to reach the glory land.

No one knows who will prevail, nor do many people really care.

That's exactly what I was thinking.

So say should Sutton win the League, but decide they don't want to rip up their lovely plastic pitch and turn down promotion does that mean it would go to the next placed National League team, or would some useless League 2 team who can't win for toffee get a lucky reprieve?

I'm asking for a friend............ :animatedf:

It was bone jarringly depressing that first half.

If we go up (*if*), we've (well Paul Doswell) has announced plans to replace the 3G with a hybrid pitch (and install another in the park next door)

They can't afford to go up, just like Dover it would RUIN them.
