Hit the post, the bar and had a stone wall penalty turned down.

Congrats to Tranmere on winning the league.

Wheels starting to come loose, not surprising considering the amount of times they have to drive to Kent. Shocking first half by us, we completely fall apart on plastic and every pass and touch is poor. As we try to keep playing out from the back this results in us giving the ball to Maidstone repeatedly in our third.

Having said all that clear penalty with an arm fully outstretched that linesmen, if not ref, had a clear view of. Quickly followed by Blissett hitting the bar. Forgot how to shoot on Saturday, forgotten how to pass today!

Genius change from Askey at half time. Sounds like we've managed to swap keepers! They've just Jalaled us an equaliser!

Why did the Barrow keeper just walk across the goal and not bother saving it?!

MOM for me was their keeper easily, what a clown, should've stopped both goals.

Can be no complaints like, we dominated for 75 minutes, had a shaky spell after they scored but were never in any real trouble.

I thought we were very decent in the 2nd half. Looks like Bates has us playing a bit more fluid, diamond works well when in possession. It’s games like this where you think, how the hell did we get it so badly wrong on the park this season. A bit of organisation, pace, game management is all you really need in this league. We had that tonight and we’re well deserving winners. Also Laing had a very good game, never thought I’d ever say that.

Just gutted. We were well on top first half - Hartlepool caused us no threat whatsoever, and our forwards were flying - I'd imagine the possession was about 70/30 until the goal went in on half-time. Instead of cruising, we came out second-half with no composure and Hartlepool outbattled us in every position. Can't argue with that result. That feels like relegation's nailed on now.

Cracking game down at the Gallagher tonight, well worth the £15 entry. Stones were well on top in the first half and deserved the lead, despite Macc hitting the post and bar. Couldn't clearly see the penalty shout as it was at the far end, but the defender was very close to the attacker when the ball was hit - seen them given, but would've been harsh. Second half was far more in Macc's favour, with Durrell impressing alongside Whittaker on his 14992nd appearance. Blisset came far more into the game too, and I was quite impressed with his hold up play. Still took a mistake for the leveller though, as Worgan and Wynter collided allowing the bald maestro to tuck home from close in. The 2nd Macc goal was a beauty, with Durrell cutting in from the right and with apparently the absence of a left foot decided to use the outside of his right to bend a stunner into the far corner. Genuinely superb goal. Couldn't really see what happened for the 2nd equaliser, but it looked like it fell generously to Lafayette from fairly close in.

Point was probably the right result all told, with both sides very much going for it in the generous 9 added minutes.

So, it's on us to save our own necks on Saturday then. Exactly how we like it. Win, and we leave the rest to fight it out between themselves.:bdick:

Can't agree with that. We started better, conceded a sloppy goal to guess who, then you were on top for 20 minutes before we came back into it end of the 1st half before being much the better side second half.

Can't win on plastic.

Durrell's goal probably makes the journey worth it (at least one of the journeys...), but annoying to not win having improved massively and got ahead. Askey thinks there was a foul before their equaliser so combined with handball it's conclusive proof we are being reffed off the top (or Sutton are paying the officials as well as everyone we play)

Every time I watch us, I can’t believe we’re top of the league. We’re a decent side with pockets of real quality like Durrell, but we’re nothing like the Mansfield, Luton and Cheltenham sides that I saw win this league.
We could have been 4-0 down going into half time, but we weathered the storm to an extent and got into HT only 1-0 down. We were much better in the second half, but a draw was a fair result. Durrell’s goal was one of the best I’ve ever seen in person.
I think Sutton will win the league, purely because of our horrible run-in and poor GD, but it will be very close. Tranmere and BW are not quite (but very almost) out of it yet.

Did anyone bother to wake Arnold or is he still asleep on the goal line? Frustrating when you're desperate for points.

Yeah I’m with you on that, right up until their goal it was all us, we were in total control, James looked decent first half but totally lacking any support, I dunno what Holt brings to their team, grossly out of shape, just whinges and gives away fouls, give James a proper strike partner and I reckon they’ll have themselves a chance of stopping up.

Was totally against Bates taking over but they’ve actually done alright, the players seem to have a plan, playing some neat stuff and having pops at goal which under Harrison was a rare sight.

From a Tranmere perspective, I think that result from Macclesfield was their last chance to extend their lead over us and from now until the end can only see it getting reduced. We've got quite a favourable run in with tough games away at Dover and home to Aldershot but bar that, the rest we should be winning. Macc have quite a tough run in and Sutton have some tricky fixtures too.

I think it will end up being really tight at the top however I just think 8 points to make up over 8 games, despite each sides fixtures, is a bit too much to ask for. Incredible how low the points tally to win the league will be this season!

Having seen the penalty Macc were given against Sutton (which is as things stand technically the difference between the two sides) it's hard to say they're being 'reffed out' of the title. All teams will suffer (or at least believe they will suffer) poor decisions over the course of a long season.

3 points between 1st and 2nd with 8 games left sums this season up, no team has ever looked like running away with it. And proves that this division is to tough to call
