Why did you request a Friday kick off then if it wasn’t to boost support because your local PL team weren't playing?
No idea. The game at yours was a Friday too even before BT got involved, why was that? Tit for tat? Seems odd. Only 2 of our home games this season were moved to Friday night.

I don't have a PL team and nor do most Southend fans. Our last home game had 8,000 on a PL Tuesday night.

You requested us to do it to boost the crowds. We agreed to it but only if you did the same to give us an extra days rest for our Tuesday fixture.

Can't have a game postponed if you don't have a game to get postponed ;)

An update from the Vale this evening :

Please to announce following a drop off in the average wind speed in Ruislip, that the Vale has escaped largely from too much damage, which is a relief.
Nothing that can't be either fixed or temporarily sorted out in the morning before Wrexham get here.
Pitch looking good too.

Now down to how much rain falls between now and kick off.

If Woking can make it up here, our game should be on.

Our pitch is in good nick, we played Dover in wetter conditions two weeks ago than we've had today and probably will have tomorrow. Literally pissed it down full pelt all day in the North West and we were more or less the only Greater Manchester based team to survive that day

Only if the accumulation has been too much over the days should it be a problem. But our pitch drains quite well.

Winds expected to drop a lot tomorrow up here too.

Hope Woking make it up here safely if they've travelled up today.

Attendance could take a hit, as it may across all games as public transport is fucked as it has the breaking point of a chocolate fireguard in this country.

I'm sure Woking will come to make it difficult for us by sitting deep. We've had trouble with that from Dover, first half Maidenhead until we got the breakthrough. We can look a little laboured against teams who sit deep at times. Need that early goal.

How’s the weather in Torquay?

Don’t fancy the 4/5 hour drive

Okay so what’s happening?

Are we all moving elsewhere or are we all sticking around? Cos like others have said if it ends up being a 50/50 split both forums will be cack so let’s make a decision and go all in for whatever we decide.

Happy with either personally, but think I’d prefer this one just because I’m not the biggest fan of change

I prefer this one because it's at the top of my searches and I don't have to keep typing a web address in to get to this one. On first viewing the emoji's don't seem as good over there either

Haha what a weird thing to make up we’ve literally never changed fixture day to not have the same game day as West Ham

Saw your game is off. Is that just because of damage from the storm?
No damage from the storm. The roof of the Big Bank just needs inspecting to ensure no panels are loose and it can't be done unless someone goes up there, which can't be done when it's still windy

We concede a minimum of two goals every game, so I doubt we’ll make it difficult for you.

Also - the other forum is 10x better than this one…

It was well documented at the time that you’d specifically requested it to increase attendance and it wasn’t just us you’d asked, most teams had just rejected it. If I ‘made it up’ how else do you explain why your club requested it?

I'm not going on the other forum. Took one look and it looked wank. Banter been ripped out already. Can't be arsed with the heavy modding that will go down. People forget the kind of wankers who used to let power to go their heads on the old TFF back in the day thinking it was their full time job. They've already bullied the lad from Halifax off by taking away his username etc who fair enough could be annoying but I always he was just dealt with by kid gloves by everyone on here. Nobody would ban him or anything. He obviously enjoyed the interaction on here despite the stick he got. He was very worried around COVID/Lockdown time I remember interacting with him.

I'm sure this section is going to fizzle out by the sounds of the disperse but it's a shame.

Hopefully your lads have safe trip up and the game can go ahead.

To be fair there was only one "bloke" from Halifax who was arsed about a certain type of emoji. Interesting to see forum-gate develop recently.

I hope I can put put this paragraph together without promoting alternative measures. This is typically not my home section at the moment, although it's looking like it will be once more the way our season is going (much to the delight of "The Brothers"), but there's been a number of long term, respectable posters who've made decisions over the last few days. I don't think what they've said should be discarded lightly, IMO. But I'll let you all make your own decisions.

The League Two section is a shit craic anyway, forewarning before you get promoted.

Aha promotion is a long way off yet. Over the years I've developed somewhat of a pessimistic nature when it comes to following Halifax. If it can go wrong it will should be on the club Crest. Occasionally we'll throw in a Trophy win or a play off experience to make sure we have the occasional good time.

Wild has brought somewhat of a golden age to us at the minute where we have repeated above average finishes. How long he hangs about is anyones guess though.

As for Barrow. I have noticed that Oldham have strung together a few results when it looked for all the world they were getting cut adrift with Scunthorpe. Bringing more than a few teams back into a relegation battle. No offence I'd rather have Oldham down here than yourselves as it's a more local game a potential big gate.

In my opinion you'll be back here one day hopefully you have a few years yet. Much the same as we would if we ever got up.

To be fair my Dad took me circa 2002 when a big fixture was a Man Utd XI in pre-season as well as a few decent cup ties. Normal league games were against Marine, Lancaster, Workington, Telford and the like. I'm late 20s but never did I expect to watch us in the FL, I'm enjoying it while I can. At least I can say my lad was born in the FL era, as much as I know he'll be tempted by Man City, Liverpool, Man Utd when he gets older like 95% of the kids round here, as sad as it is. Just hope he gets the Barrow bug like I did, FA Cup trips to Sunderland, Middlesbrough and an FA Trophy at the New Wembley made me a Barrow fan for life, whatever end may come.

No you never lose the love no matter how tough it gets sometimes.

Winning at Wembley is a day I'll never forget.

I'll never forget having to work our way back up to this level for a different reason. Was a big adventure even if it came out of the carnage of the old club.

I never thought I'd ever see us at Wembley so that's a big dream accomplished. I only vaguely remember our old football league days though and 20 years on I haven't lost hope of getting back there one day

I know it’s popular to have a go at clubs for calling off games but it really is dreadful behaviour from Southend. Fans risking it by traveling all that way in minging conditions for a game that could’ve been called off ages ago had they not desperately tried to cling onto the bigger payday
The reason it was called off is they were scared all the cash would blow away.

Think most of the regular posters are still around? I can’t be arsed to change forums, either.
