Paul Hurst currently listening to Smooth FM and telling his wife he's not watching anymore football this weekend. When the Match of the Day music comes on later, he's going to storm in telling her to turn it off. He's completely bottling this. They were walking away with it and now this.

And some major, major boiled piss coming this week from some former friends of this section of the forum by the sounds of things. Keep your eye on that.

Challinor just loves the NL doesn’t he? Absolutely loves it. Stott will have to dig deep though, didn’t he just sign a new deal?

Aldershot weren't a bad side, clearly lacking confidence though.

On balance deserved the win, but only just as Aldershot gave it a good go after they scored.

You’re spot on re us, we’re not awful but we just don’t know how to win games and it’s so obvious. You feel like if we can win one, we’ll win a couple but that first win feels so far away.

Thought you lot looked decent, Mason-Clark and Flanagan both look good players. You’ll be absolutely fine this season, Brennan’s a good manager at this level.

Was at the game and Aldershot have all the makings of a side who could easily go down.

Played some good football first 15 to 20, find themselves a goal down.

Second half managed to find their way back had plenty of chances and lost.

For us, we are creeping up the table after Harry Kewell shit show.

They will get better under Molesley, but I am not sure there are 3 teams worse than them.

You let em! I even saw a 94th equaliser that I cheered in, was it ruled out for something?

The terrible quality of NL officials is shown again by the Assistant Referee giving Mason-Clark offside after he headed home and the subsequent replay showing that he was clearly onside.
If your players can’t put the ball touching the line of the quadrant for corners, then blaming a linesman is poor.

I can’t actually see where our next point is going to come from. We’re so short of confidence and quality, and so easy to play against. Don’t really know where we go from here - the only hope is that our new signings gel and we start to somehow pick up points. Feel so flat right now, this is so sad to watch.
You look a shadow of the side that played us, and we were poor but you had something about yo then.

Looks like it's between us, Aldershot and KL for the 2 spots.Looks like it's between us, Aldershot and KL for the 2 spots
Nope, between you and KL for one spot.

Can we claim it now and go straight to 2022-23 NLN season please?

Reckon they’ll be ok - MM is a good manager and they’ve recruited quite well at the moment, he’s being backed. Saw thoughts for Southend too actually.

We are looking so much better now HK is gone. By no means are we good or even decent, but we’ve had 20 months of being absolutely dogshit. It’s almost refreshing.

This sums us up though, we look good and play some decent football at times, but we also concede at least 2 goals in pretty much every game - defensively we are so soft and make so many stupid errors I don't know whether to laugh or cry

Watched the game on TV tonight and I thought Aldershot should have had a penalty.

Cracking day. Stolen a win at the end really, but been on the other end of that enough times to know that you’ve got to enjoy it when it goes your way.

Got to have another moan about the policing, though. After the game was the worst I’ve ever experienced. Got an escort back to Cleethorpes station and put on the first train, which was fine… except there was then a full Tiananmen Square style set up at Grimsby Town station refusing to let a single person off. Even though that’s where you have to change for the train to Nottingham. Whole debacle was summed up by the sight of a load of Notts fans pleading the case of four lads, clearly home fans with scarves etc, who weren’t allowed to get off the train at their own station… to stop us fighting with each other!?!

I don’t understand why players do this. What sort of advantage do they gain from doing this?

Thought the game looked like a 0-0 after about 15 mins save if someone makes a feck up at the back and it happened to be us. Chesterfield have one hand on the title - without playing well, according to their fans on here, and with injuries, but they have that extra bit of quality up front...

Players just like cheating, it’s like appealing for throws and corners when clear not theirs.
As for staying down or holding their heads when not injured, that needs a rule change. If the games stopped for player treatment they should leave the field for at least 2 minutes, they’d soon stop the feigning injury.

The questionable decision to put Wrexham fans in a tier above Torquay fans appears to have led to some incidents where bottles (presumably plastic) coins and lighters were thrown on them after some 'banter' between Torquay and Wrexham pricks in amongst the normal fans.

Later, a group of Wrexham 'lads' beat up one of our own fans at the train station thinking they were from Torquay.

Morons to a man.

Very poor game of football that was. A point was fair. Would like to see those penalty appeals back.

Without Mullin and Hyde there's just nothing there.

We are not going up under Parkinson, we won't even make the playoffs IMO. It's a matter of time before he is canned, the league position is nowhere near good enough for the outlay.

The big shout for Hosannah.. I thought it looked like he took a dive.

It was basically a rinse and repeat of the second half performances at home to Woking and Dagenham, but this time we didn't hang on.

I actually thought he we looked a lot more solid defensively (maybe that was more Torquay being toothless most of the match) but it was at the complete expense of any attacking threat. Only chance of note I can remember second half was Ponticelli opting to shoot about 5 mins in, when he should have played in Hosannah

From the interviews McElhenney in particular has given this week, it doesn't sound like Parkinson will be given the full season if it carries on like this.

Yep complete idiots and this is why we can't have nice things!

No chance it'll be done again this season now. Obviously done to boost the crowd and get a fuller looking stadium for the big visit

Although I noticed despite being a "sell out" the Kop end section of the MRS was pretty empty, as were both the bottom corners of the Tech end?

Had a bit of time to reflect and think yesterday, whilst annoying, isn’t the end of the world.

If Notts are the challenge then I’m comfortable with how the season is going given we’d almost certainly have won that 2/3-0 without injuries. Proper sucker punch at the end but it’s only a point we’ve lost in reality.

We’ve still fucked up by not getting in reasonable backup and thinking LJL was the answer but we’re second in the league which is miles better than we thought.

McAtee out for a month so we really need to get somebody in, he’s absolutely vital

Humberside Police are a bunch of jokers, that's ridiculous. You should get as many Notts fans to fill in complaints about that. Perhaps it was karma for your snide little "Racists" comment though.

Oh has that been confirmed about McAtee? Haven't watched or read anything. At least we don't have a league match for about two weeks of that month. I don't think it'll be half as bad in terms of the lineup when Taylor is back, we've just looked pish with them both out. We definitely need someone in though, I do wonder how much of the difficulty finding a replacement is to do with Hurst wanting the right person vs any budget constraints.

I’d say it’s more Hurst, his ethos around the right person has obviously served us well so far but I do think it holds us back at times and more often than not it’s in the forward positions we lack in.

I’m sure Lenny is a great bloke, but how much influence does being a great bloke make when you’re such a liability on the pitch?

Aldershot (and Boreham Wood, apparently )
Shots do try to play decent football. Searle had his UEFA badges, and stubbornly stuck to technical football; unfortunately for him and us, he had to apply his methods to raw young lads and technically deficient journeymen. With our budget ,big ugly bastards and direct play is the only option, and I don’t think new man Molesley has this in his tactical cupboard..

It's everything to do with Hurst wanting the right people not just ability, was mentioned many teams by previous players and don't know if you heard it but before the match on Humberside there was an interview with Waterfall and he said the same thing and how great the dressing room currently is because Hurst only signs players with the right character.

No doubt it does us well with everyone playing for each other, but like you say it's a fine balance between losing out on promotion because you lose out on that player that has the ability because he might upset the dressing room and losing out on promotion because he does upset the dressing room.
