It looks like Paul Hurst really hasn't succeeded anywhere after leaving Shrewsbury.
In Hurst's defense he's been put in some not great situations.

I really liked him here and think he was mistreated by our fans and our owner. All in all, wouldn't 6th be a pretty solid position for Grimsby this season? They can't compete financially with Wrexham, Stockport or Chesterfield and I imagine Notts County and others also have bigger budgets than them. I think he's doing the exact job you'd expect him to do with their squad.

Maidenhead were dog poo....however you still got get past the opposition. Comfortable with for Barnet. Played teams in and around us so will be bigger tests. The gloom is lifting

Yeah, I think you’d guess Grimsby would be with Notts, Southend (lol) and maybe a couple of others in the next group down budget-wise from the obvious big three. From the outside, a top seven finish would be a solid return for them this season.

If anything he did too good of a job at the start of the season that expectation rose again. Yes play offs at the end of the year would be a good first season and expected at the start of the year.

However losing 5 of our last 6 games is not great for any team, which has been made to look far worse by our good start. Not sure what has happened, guess you can point to injuries and shows our strength in depth isn't great but still believe the biggest issue which I've said all season is not signing a goalscorer, our good start masked that but you only need to look at Chesterfield and Wrexham to show what having one does.

In a nutshell, yes we are.

Thank fuck we had such a great start because we’re currently in relegation form and every away game now I’m expecting a defeat.
And we'll be more than happy to oblige although we already know you'll claim it does count because you're in shit form and you expected it. :bdick:

If you got someone with no knowledge of football that had never seen a game in their life and got them to guess every decision you would have got more correct ones. When he didn’t book Cheek for that appalling dive in the first 10 minutes you knew he had no clue.

Hopefully they go up and we get rid of another plastic pitch, poor away section, shit away fans.

If the red card gets rescinded be good to see their player get done for simulation, they must spend training sessions bouncing of Mr Potato head managers belly.

Bromley get an obscene amount of penalties. Cheek must practice diving around a lot and gets his rewards from it in a lot of games,

Well yes we’ve lost our last 5 away games and so yes I am expecting to lose again.
So what is your point exactly?

Just had a look at The Fishy. I thought our fans were pessimistic, but the Grimsby lot are something else!

Hurst blaming the officials for the defeat and saying the red card tackle was to block a clearance is almost as enjoyable as the Grimsby fans fighting each other in the away end.

It's a man under severe pressure. He's fighting for his managerial career.

He’s finished, they were beyond awful. Spoke to the stewards apparently the infighting was some were chanting Hurst out and others didn’t like it, complete disarray for them at present with some tough games coming up.

I see Maidenhead are on a dreadful run. Conceded 11 in their last 3, no clean sheet in 7.

So 1-0 Maidenhead...

One of our rivals, but to me Hurst seems like one of the good guys so I hope he can turn around the bad run. Starting next Saturday.

We weren't great but "beyond awful" is way OTT and he's definitely not finished. The match was a fairly poor one that was well balanced, both teams looked pretty poor. Two sucker punches when we were well on top won it essentially. Fair play to Daggers, you took more of your chances than we did but it could have gone either way, especially if we'd have got it back to 3-2 with our best player on the pitch but we left ourselves with too much to do after the sending off.

We've got problems for sure but there are massive overreactions all over the place re: Hurst right now. We're losing games by fine margins and by making silly mistakes. I'm still yet to see a team outplay us this season* the trend seems to be more to frustrate us and drag us into a scrappy dog fight which we've not figured out how to deal with yet.

*not counting the Bromley match in that as that was a freak storm. We were weathered out of those points.

Hurst took over a relegation bound team with ownership troubles. It takes time to sort these kinds of messes out, Chesterfield, Wrexham, Stockport and us ( Notts ) have all had the same issues over the last few years and are only now in shape to push on.
Compare Grimsby to Southend and I'd say Hurst is doing well.

Well on top? Could have gone either way? Deluded just like Hurst on the sending off. Take the blinkers of you were second best most of the afternoon bar one attack end of first half and a couple of half chances just after half time, either side we dominated scoreline flattered you lot with the chances we missed. Reading the fishy forum most tend to agree.

So angry for no reason, you won ffs. I’m really sorry that our player got sent off, we should be the ones crying, not you. Think you’re projecting a tad - we’ve lost 5 out of 6 and we’re still above you!

Seriously? We've been poor but he's not gonna get sacked yet and rightly so. I don't think we deserved to lose today, but sloppy defending has cost us again. McAtee has a lot to answer for too, absolute fucking idiot. He's lost his head when he's only just come back into the starting lineup. Taking Taylor off for Lenny was a poor decision though, I'd have a tired Taylor over a fit Lenny all day. No Bapaga again, not sure what he's done to be ignored constantly. Hunt getting a yellow might be a blessing in disguise as Clifton surely moves back into CM.
Maybe a slight overreaction but this is more than a blip now. You can blame some of it on injuries but you could also say he’s fucked up by not having a good enough alternative LB when Crookes isn’t available (Revan ain’t it). Just like last time, he has his favourites even if they’re out of form and like you mention, is ignoring Bapaga and persisting with Hunt, despite him (and Fox) being way out of form.

Strange how we’ve dropped off since the Sears driving incident but I have no idea what else can have happened. This isn’t the Premier League, you don’t just get figured out and then not be able to play football. The same players playing fantastic 2 months ago can barely pass a ball now. We said before December that we’d need to get some points due to our run-up to Christmas. We didn’t and now we’re plummeting.

Agreed. Easy for Grimsby to forget now that they were even worse than us last season. He's done fine there.

I really have to explain this to you? I'm accusing you of getting your excuses in early, dear. It's standard football forum repartee. But you knew that. :ds:

? I told you I'm ignoring you. WHY do you keep taking to me? Coz that's how it works, right? That's how YOU said it works. Right? You're not allowed to talk to someone who says they're ignoring you, right? Or else you're weird or something? Are you weird, chuck? Is that what this is? Huh? :dk:

Conceded 18 in our last 4!

Devonshire sounded completely broken in his post match interview yesterday. Seems to be no plan for Tuesday other than to cobble a team together and tell them to keep it tight at the back.

Well we were well on top before your first and second as there had only been about five mins of the second half when you scored and it was all one way traffic up until then. And yeah it could have easily been a draw as you only won by a single goal, that's hardly rocket science that bit. Incidentally, I'd like to see your first again as I thought it was a great header but someone in our WhatsApp group thought it just hit your man and he didn't really have any idea about it so there's potentially been a lucky goal scored there.

Not sure what game you were watching but I can't really remember you missing significantly more chances than us and I'd be surprised if we didn't have more possession. You must have been looking even worse than us recently if you genuinely think you dominated that. Would definitely suggest you're the one being deluded here.

Oh, also I'll let you off on this one as you probably don't know better but "Reading the fishy" should never ever be used to strengthen an argument, especially not after a Town defeat.
Maybe a slight overreaction but this is more than a blip now. You can blame some of it on injuries but you could also say he’s fucked up by not having a good enough alternative LB when Crookes isn’t available (Revan ain’t it). I don't necessarily agree that Fox and Hunt are out of form. They're not setting the world alight admittedly, but Hunt is tidy every single match and Fox is the only player trying to stave off the tide of teams relentlessly overrunning us and out battling us in the middle of the park, which is a thankless task. I think the main problems are that the defence looks out of sorts and we aren't scoring, which isn't really on Hunt or Fox. Hunt is deployed way too deep to be able to create anything of note and that's not really what Fox is there for.

You've definitely got a point about some of the signings though, a few clearly aren't good enough or fancied by Hurst. There are way too many passengers in a squad of that size. Like you say, it's inexplicable how much we've dropped off but I don't think there are necessarily dressing room problems. There's plenty of effort being exerted we're just playing poorly and not getting many decisions going our way. If there are dressing room problems then the Hurst mantra of brining in players with the right attitude has been tarnished somewhat.

I'd quite like to see Efete out wide on the right in a more attacking role and Sears back in at RB. Is Crookes out injured? I'm assuming he was one of the ones Hurst wouldn't reveal had been injured last week?
