It's why we've been so good up front this season Amari Morgan-Smith being a unit up front who can cause problems for big defenders and being an out ball but then we've got Hemmings, Austin and Sterling-James running beyond him. Those 3 are the ones actually scoring for us while our number 9 isn't there for the goals

I don't think Freemantle got a fair crack. Looked good early in season especially v Blyth at home.

I think sometimes a manager has that assumption that it’s conf north so you just need height and strength.

you of course do, but you also have to realise all other clubs will have height and strength especially either up front or back two.

you find a different way, pace on the wings, through balls to a fast forward I think can do much more damage…….just not easy to find on the lower wage levels.
ive said for years he need to play with wingers, something Watson didn’t play.
First thing Askey does is get 2 quick wingers,Like McKay reminds me of Matty Blair.

Yes and if you do manage to find one the predators come calling.

Craig Elliott gone at Boston United then

surprised he lasted as long although the league is weird this year, you can rise or fall 5-10 places within a month depending on form.

side expected to wi. Title and never drastically near it most of the season would suggest a fair removal, although think new ground syndrome can always make it tougher.

I cannot believe the game will be on as weather is horrific but at present Curzon vs Blyth is on after an early pitch inspection.

mid it is I am calling today’s game a ‘season defining’ game for us.

we ain’t won in a while, had terrible luck with injuries and played every team near top or on massive unbeaten runs within the last 3 months.

the combination has dropped us from 3rd to 11th. Today we finally have players back plus play a side down the bottom, need to win this one. We win we may push on, we fail then slump continues.

You shouldn't have sacked Cunningham.

Curzon 2-0 Blyth at half time it really should be Curzon 10-1 Blyth

some of the play, especially first 20 minutes was a joy to watch, fabulous play. A worry is we got a little cocky, made a bad pass at the back helping send them through and while they missed we got a defender injured, had to sub and put midfielder in defence and it’s given them small hope.

thankfully we did get that vital second goal soon after. Need to keep going with the same their defence is shocking and need to press it, they I doubt can be as poor second half

How are Curran & Thomas getting on? (can't remember if we have any more ex-players at yours)

Somebody, anybody, give us a striker.

We genuinely had about 98% possession and have lost to their only shot in the match. Only Chester could do this.

We are the clean sheet Kings at the moment. Doesn't make us necessarily great to watch mind you!

It was on the whole an even game where neither side created much. Boston had a 10 min spell in the first half where Wright was a bit of a nuisance and they looked a little dangerous but other than that they didn't really cause too many issues.

City looked the more likely to score second half and Hulbert almost won it right at the end with a header that went just wide. McClure went off crocked again, Mensah had a 20 min cameo but again showed no threat. Defensively looked very strong but toothless upfront still. Need another forward big time.

Striking comment from Watson after today 'It's widely known by managers in the league that Chester play nice football but don't win games.'

Must be in with a serious shout after upstaging Gateshead at home. Top of the table recently has been blown wide open after AFC Fylde and Brackley seemed to be uncatchable at one stage...

Brackley really are very catachable... we're winning a lot of close games, and at any point that could fall away. Two really important games coming up - on paper should win them both and therefore be 10 points ahead of Chorley before we meet, but who knows... Am not worried about our matches vs the top teams in the league - hopefully we'll get enough points from those top 7 clashes to remain competitive - it's the results against the likes of Blyth, Farsley and Kettering that concern... Also squad depth - the best it has been in many years - but still thin, and now its pretty much a case that if you're fit and haven't got covid you're playing

As long as Wilkin can put out his best side it will go toe to toe against and probably beat most of the rest. All the top sides still to come south (except maybe Southport) and apart from that Darlo aberation it is still a fortress (a 1 nil fortress maybe). Covid and injuries at wrong time and it could go pear shaped. 500 plus of us enjoying the ride for now. If we are still top at Easter, I think the title is on.

Phew Curzon just held on in the end, it would have been a travesty if they hadn’t, although Blyth were much improved second half and both sides had great chances to score.

the first 25 minutes though were stunning from Curzon yesterday, joy to watch, played the entire period in Blyth half, lots of fantastic one touch stuff with plenty of individual control and skill…….Blyth didn’t seem to know what to do…….sad part is we only score one goal instead of the 5-6 we should have had.

Game turned when one of our back line got too lax and cocky and was caught sending them through on goal, it didn’t go in but we lost a defender to injury due to this had no cover and had to switch lots about, plus the 5 minute break in play let them organise.

game then evened but we did double lead and Blyth didn’t attack. Second half much more even with loads of chances either side, is still more dangerous but them now creating also. Got a 3rd but ran out of steam and they were on top last 10 minutes grabbing 2 goals. They deserved goals for their chances second half but we should have scored double what we did apart from last gasp stops, the bar, the post twice and some bad misses.

we are improving again last we home games I’d not be lying in saying we could have scored 12-15 goals so our play is much better, but we need to work on killer touch.

Sadly, our squad is paper thin, lots of talk about Cardwell going, we just dont have cover! The first 13 are fine, after that we are severely weakened. Just dont see us continuing this excellent run.

To be fair, they'd only be 5 games left by then - even I might hope we've have a damn good shot by then! But I take your point that all rival teams have to come to us... just worry about the strength of the full timers like Gateshead, Fylde and Kiddy as the months roll on.

They had 2635 against us and apparently only took 450 despite being our biggest away following of the season.
1171 is a big drop.

The other 700 were all Darlo fans who went in the home end because we were only given 600 tickets.

That said, 1,171 is still a good crowd for a very small town - if you ignore all the free entrants and the very cheap cost of tickets.

Darlo now the top scorers in the league - next week vs Kidderminster should be a good match.

I think we're good enough to go on a nice little run which would propel us into the top 7. We've beaten both Brackley and Fylde so why not?
