We ground out a 2-1 win over Guiseley in blustery conditions. They moved the ball around well but only had 2 shots on target, whilst we weren't at our best but had Jordan Archer to thank for two terrific finishes.

Four away games on the trot for us next. I'd be very surprised if our 14 league match unbeaten run made it to 18 matches, but it's been fun anyway.

If anyone can beat them to that single relegation spot its Chester FC.

Darlo, Chester lost 3 games in a row, Farsley have lost 5 in a row! Lets hope they don't turn their season round. And then we'll be looking over our shoulders :shut:

I think Southport have a great chance. I don't see at this stage you guys finishing outside the play-offs not unless you go on a shocking run starting at Kettering.

I thought Kettering were poor on Saturday when they turned us over with their smash-and-grab win (1 shot) on target and made it count. I think you must get a result at Kettering on Tuesday night.

I saw the other day that Southport were well in playoff contention. When we played you in the FA Cup you were bottom of the league! We've won 1 game in 20 since that day.....

Chester 1-1 Brackley

They equalised in the 90th minute through an own goal in a game where they had zero chances.

After a pretty poor performance against Gloucester that was the perfect way to bounce back. Very comfortable 3-0 win, another clean sheet and 16 points from a possible 21 since we beat Reading.... Now then roll on Saturday

Come on Kiddy, I backed you along with us and Dorking in the NLS at the start of the season, would be decent money if all three come in.

Much better tonight and never gave them a sniff until the unfortunate own goal in injury time.
Didn't go last night and hearing that Grand played well, but he still cost us 2 points. I hope Watsdn takes a punt on Burke because all the signs are that he's got what it takes.

Gateshead seem to be flying so it's hard to look past them and Brackley are a solid team who are tough to score against so they'll be up there. I'm not convinced we'll win the league but hopefully we'll be 2nd or 3rd

Grand wasn’t at fault for the goal it came through a crowd of bodies at pace so he had no time to react and it just hit him.

How did Stanway do in his 1st game?
He hardly had anything to do to be honest, the own goal was a freak and nothing to do with him as well. Came and confidently collected a few crosses though, something Gray has struggled with up to now.

All good so far.

Just watched the highlights and it’s different than the angle I watched he from , he is on the floor and appears to just hook it into his own net.

To be fair, neither team really made any chances based on the highlights.

Down to 13 outfield players again, 5 first teamers out, and we're not good enough to play with 2 or 3 teenage 'make weights'.

7 games in Feb - it's going to be a tough make or break month perhaps.

Would seem that Brackley and Chorley are in the same boat squad wise, we are also down to 12 or 13, the kids just cant do it when 3 or so are needed together at this level. As you say February is going to be a difficult month.

Going to be an interesting game this Saturday as from what I gather Nugent and Dawson are both suspended whilst Harrison, Robert, McClure, Gerring and Jack James (not kicked a ball all season still) are apparently out with injuries. Story of our season really, bad enough with poor performances but throw in continual injuries and suspensions (Dawson in particular has been a total liability and should be stripped of the captaincy)

We have replaced half our team of senior underperforming players for youth or young lads from the leagues below because that’s all we can afford, but on the evidence shown on Tuesday we looked far better for it.

You were much better at our place than at yours. Really tough to break down but just seemed like you lacked ideas going forwards, wasn't ever really worried you'd score.

Matt Green will need games but he scored on his debut and is getting into the right places so thats a start. McClure has spent most of this season injured or suspended and the other forwards we've had, other than Hulbert, have been total dross. We need a massive clear out.

Thats not what I saw on the highlights. He was lying on the ground and tried to kick it over, but kicked it into thye roof of the net. I think its not clear, but they are saying that on DC too,

It is and I saw it and commented that I got it wrong, if he tried 100 times he wouldn’t be able to do that again.

Looks like he was trying to scoop it over for another corner but it’s ended up flying in to the net instead on second viewing.

He’s been great for us but let’s face it, he’s only still playing now because he didn’t want to play out his last season behind closed doors, he’s put that on record. There are still games that suit him when the opposition have no pace up front but unfortunately he’s just had as bad a month as you could imagine, 2 own goals, red card and costing us all four goals in one game (including one of the own goals).

Ok I didn't see that.

On a positive note Southport haven't won at the Deva for more than 20 years. I think another draw on Saturday if we can keep it tight at the back.

Hope so but I think they will be more of an attacking threat due to their more direct style.

Not quite true. We turned you over in an FA Trophy replay there in 2018. We haven't beaten this current version of your football club there in a league match though, 4 draws and 2 defeats for us in 6 league games.

I'm not sure what to expect tomorrow. We've been down to the bare bones the last few games and have edged out poor teams recently until Tuesday night's defeat. Having said that if your defense forget their zimmer frames again we should cause you problems.
