Good to see them back up. Traditional well supported club. Hard luck on Boston. Seem a club on the up off the pitch - I’m sure they will be back again next season.

So pleased for him. Best thing is he knows what it takes to get promoted from the league above as well given the right amount of time. Also showed at Macc he doesn’t need huge money to do it either.
Managed to make Goole Town much less shit than normal for them many years ago, too.

Many congratulations to York City on their promotion, and good luck to them in the National League next season.

If they now take the same trajectory as Stockport County - who themselves took longer than might have been expected to get back into the National League - then it won't be too long before York City is a Football League club again.

Well done to my team too for making it as far as they did, especially with missing some influential players all through the playoffs. With the curtailed 'null-and-void' 20/21 season in between, we've now lost two successive Play-Offs Finals - but onward and forward to the 'new era' of the expanded National League North next season.

It will be here before we know it!!

Not my words below, but of two of my fellow supporters written on our club forum. These, and from some conversations I had post-match yesterday, I think are fair reflections of how many Boston United supporters viewed things:-

"It felt like they had done some really good homework on us, e.g. Seriki was kept quiet, and the better team won on the day. Hugely disappointed but no complaints. I had a great day out and our support was fantastic. Even the police were thanking us at the end. I felt proud of our club but we’re not quite good enough yet to get promoted, is the honest truth. I feel optimistic going forwards though…"

"Although disappointed with the result I thought 3 away games against full-time teams made the difference, all the more reason why we should be looking at going full-time next season if it's financially feasible. Well done lads, onwards and upwards next season, hopefully!!"

Well done York. Good luck in the national league
Can’t see past you or Kiidderminster next season.
Kiddy will be strong next season signed a lot of squad already.
Interesting to see if Brackley lose some players.
With Gateshead/York going up Darlo have a bigger local pool of players to chose from,Hazel from Whitby is a hell of a player, seen Whitby 4 times this season a looked quality, strong and fast. Also signed Suker left back who I don’t rate at all,was at York.

I'd like to think we'd be up there, but I think it could be between Fylde and Boston if Paul Cox is given the resources to develop the team. Then probably us, Brackley and Chorley to make the play offs. Interesting to see if Kettering and Alfreton build on their late season play off pushes and would imagine that Spennymoor, Darlo and Chester would all be looking to push into the play off spots too. Could be quite competitive next year.

Is York’s new ground as far out the city as I’ve heard? Shame as KitKat was right in town. What is a Dorking!

Outskirts of town on a big old retail park, ideal for a spot of Marksies shopping and Costa!

'Hazel from Whitby' sounds like a contestant on the Generation Game.

Hearing rumours that we're after Pete Jameson from York?

No manager installed like but we have a recruitment gadgy working on things

Yeah, makes sense. I spoke with Pete after the game Sat and he said he'd happily stay at York but at his age, he needs to move higher now. Very consistent keeper and truly top man too

Hopefully he fancies a move back to the North East, much like David Ferguson who has been the nuts for us.

Apparently, the York commentator on the live stream told the Boston commentator that Jameson is going to Scunthorpe United.

But surely not?

With all due respect to Scunthorpe United, why go there from York City? Unless, of course, he's been made an offer he can't refuse?

How do we intend paying him…

Nice picture by the way. Popped in to see Railway Athletic the other Saturday as part of a pub afternoon.

That rumour surfaced by a fan on Twitter.

What an amazing job John Askey has done,
15 in league and going nowhere to 2 nd in form table in later part of season to Gateshead.
Askey shipped 10 players out and only brought in Kouogun,Kouhyar,Sanders,Longson,John Lewis & McKay reducing wages and still delivers.
Is Longdon doing ok?

Couldn't believe LJL was still playing, I thought he was about 40 now but only just turned 33!

i wonder if Askey is in the running for the Pools job?

No way, he will relish the chance to build up a club like York especially now he has credit in the bank after promotion. After the way it ended for him at Vale and Shrewsbury I think he will be very selective on future career moves.
