ha (?) without Crusher and Sid there wouldn't be an FGR (major credit tho goes to Trever Horsley) so give us some credit to us rather than DV (i will admit that my biggest worry is that you will repeat the mistakes of R&D)

If that happens, and the signs are that FGR have a solid future, it has been a fun ride.
DV has shown himself to be a business genius and FGR are part of his business plans. They give him the publicity for his Eco business and away fans know Ecotricity/FGR very well whenever they stop at service stations and see all those Ecotricity pumps.
And who cares how few FGR fans attend game at Wembley. We'll make ourselves heard and enjoy the day. The bookies have Grimsby slight favourites but that is not a view shared by FGR now that the team have rediscovered their mojo after recent sacking of manager.
FGR 2-1 Grimsby

Yeah it's a good question. We've grown fairly rapidly over the last few years, but more importantly is the long term work that has been put in with local school swhere we have ambassadors at 30 schools in the district. This is long term work that will take years to come to fruition but now kids bring their families and then hopefully they will come by themselves with their mates over time, etc.. it's certainly not a short term plan and has taken lots of organisation with some good volunteers. Along won't he new stadium, plans it certainly shows long term commitment.
I probably wouldn't class myself as a Johnny come lately, though I only went to a handful of games at the old ground and really started following the team when we moved to the new one ten years ago. In that ten years there has been a noticeable change in the demographic of our supporters, from a time when the vast majority were probably over 50, most of them well over. We still have a lot of older fans but the majority are now young kids and families, which is where the ambassadors scheme has worked wonders and bodes well for the future.

Let me get the violin out....

So you'd rather support a club always in a relegation battle, close to administration and going no where??? So set in your ways.

Football clubs need to grow, when they don't you get AFC Halifax....
Our supporters team are fine representatives of our club and were in fact World Champions a few seasons back. I didn't realise their fame had spread as far as Nailsworth, which is interesting when you consider there are people living 20 miles away from your club that have never heard of you.:ds:

When we played up there recently I was surprised at the number of older supporters you had, I though it was only our support that was of pensionable age! By Jonny Come Latelys, I meant older people who previously had no interest in the club who are now tagging along because you're doing all right, but probably didn't have a clue you existed 5 years ago. Those who accompany kids who have been brought in because of your ambassador scheme (which, by the way, I think is brilliant and wish our club would try something even half as adventurous) also don't count, because if their kids get hooked, they invariably will do too. I don't object to someone coming in and throwing money at a club, if I won the Euromillions tonight, I'd do the same thing, but there needs to be some kind of sustainable growth, or investment or legacy for the future. I think Rushden, and currently Crawley should serve as lessons to what happens when owners get bored and give up, especially if the club in question do not have the comfort of being in the football league. If the new stadium comes off and DV hands ownership of it to the football club, then all well and good, but if he builds it, gets bored and then charges an exhorbitant rent to use it, as Kassam at Oxford, then the whole thing becomes very difficult.

I have absolutely nothing against FGR, I have enjoyed all my visits to both old and new grounds, and it's always been a good day out at a pleasant club with decent fans. I care not for the fact that a club has more money than mine and is prepared to spend it, Lord Sugar has more cash than me, that's life and we get on with it, but what I don't like is clubs buying their way up the divisions and a totally unsustainable fashion, then going tits up leaving the fans to pick up the pieces, It's not a nice feeling having your club die and it's a feeling I've experienced. Twice.

What are these signs that FGR have a solid future? The multi-million pound year on year losses? The 2000 fans that turned up for the biggest game in your history or the "large numbers" of your "fans" who can't be bothered going to Wembley? As for Swampy and his business "genius", milking the tax payer seems to me to be nothing more than a continuation of his former life on benefits. And what do you suppose these countless away fans, who you state are flocking to his service stations, going to do exactly having been made aware of his company? Go home and leave the bathroom light on in order to use more electricity? :£:£:£:£:£:£:£:£:£:£:£

After the money went in, in other words. When the money goes, you will too. :bdick:

Latest I hear is that we have sold around 12k tickets and FGR around 4k which is good on both teams parts really considering our average home attendance is two and a half times that of FGR.

I'm going to have to faff about on the day now sorting tickets out as they cocked up my early bird order of 3 adults and 1 junior by only sending the 3 adult tickets. I've had a nightmare trying to sort it out and gave up twice on the phone having been on hold for 30 minutes and then 45 minutes. An email to them said that they would respond "within 5 working days" until I finally got somewhere on Twitter by sending a copy of my confirmation email over as they were insisting that I had only booked the 3 adult tickets.

Not impressed with their customer service at all and could have done without having to sort out tickets on the day.

Five working days two days before the match, what a piss-take.
I was boldly predicting six thousand for us which looks unlikely now but maybe there'll be a rush tomorrow. Ahem.

Perhaps the good people of Nailsworth are waiting for a weather forecast before travelling. Wouldn't want to churn up the only dirt track out of there with the Ox carts if it's raining.

I'd be happy with 5 and a half thousand considering I was only expecting 3 thousand... Good turn out for grimsby fair play to them, especially considering they're going again the week after.

On the merchandising tat front think I'll settle for a scarf. Not keen on the t-shirts and those funny single gloves look a bit big.

No it didn't, you were throwing money around in 2007/08

Vince took over during the 10/11 season. Not long before that he hadn't even heard of us.

So are you trying to say our previous owners were sugardaddies too!? :fl: Being close to the play-offs in 07-08 was a great achievement by Jim Harvey, playing some great football on a smallish albeit fulltime budget.

Clueless.

No, I'm saying what I said. You were throwing money around in 2007/08. Money that you couldn't possibly have brought in at the turnstiles Or is there some other way you could be full-time in the conference on gates of 800?.:£:£:£

Our twitter tweeted 11000 sold an hour ago, now available to pay on the day so maybe a few more London exiles might pop along now.

Yep looking forward to a good day at Wembley.
Obviously hoping for FGR win but whoever does end up as promoted, neither club will disgrace themselves in the football league.
And in truth this is a more glorious way of getting promoted than winning league.

No pub split for the game on Sunday so I'm sure there will be plenty of Mariners in there too.

Food & drink: Fittingly, the Green Man is the official Forest Green Rovers pub on Sunday. Just five minutes walk from the ground, the pub serves good food, real ales and has a pub garden. It opens from 11am this Sunday: The Green Man, Dagmar Ave, Wembley, Middlesex HA9 8DF.

Be full of our lot way before you get there. Bad idea not to split, wont end well.

I think a large proportion of our fans are planning on going to The Green Man, I don't think you're going to get the choice wether you're sharing unfortunately...
