Could well be the lowest ever attendance for a Wembley play-off final. That after the Mariners participated in the best attended last season (47,029) albeit 66% Brizzle fans. Current lowest is 16,346 Wrexham v Newport. (surprisingly - two fairly well followed clubs).

Lets see, 33% of 47,029 = 15,519 plus 3000 minimum = well over the 16,346. Unless GTFC have Wemberlee fatigue and the 42,000 that will see them romp to victory the week after arent coming on Sunday- day trippers

I wouldn't call Newport well followed. They brought sod all that year. We'd also been at Wembley two weeks earlier and I think it was just too much for some. It was bloody dear. We took a lot more to the FAT that year.

I'd not happily pay more to go, just like I'm not happily paying this rip-off price even if I would pay pretty much whatever the thieving sods want for a Wembley ticket.

Newport were pitiful that day, I remember they had that little corner where most of them were and just a smattering behind the goal. It was a huge game yet felt like such a non-event to most after the Trophy final, utter day trippers. Worst thing that could have happened to us was getting to that Trophy final. But...actually giving fans a bit more notice than a week would mean the attendance being significantly bigger, or do the sensible thing and have it at Villa Park, Etihad or somewhere.

Yep. Same here. Never happy to pay rip off prices, but not missing this. Standing in the pissing rain on a cold night in Leigh/Welling/Tamworth/Woking watching absolute dross makes days like this all the more worthwile.

Fear not, the axe is ready to swing on these tinpotters in the next few seasons. The teams finishing 18th-22nd in League Two this season looks particularly delicious too and bodes well for the natural order.

I'm always in two minds on the Wembley final subject - on the one hand, the atmosphere at the Hereford-Halifax game at Leicester was brilliant (from what I recall watching on Sky) and I've barely seen a great atmosphere with small crowds at Wembley.

On the other hand, it's Wembley....seeing Cheltenham play there was epic (even if we did lose).

The players probably enjoy Wembley most, and it will be a career highlight for most of them. I'd have been happy with somewhere midway to Grimsby.

But that was a great game between 2 REAL teams, equals in every sense, going hammer and tongs for a return to their former glory, with mutual respect between the fans. :bdick:

A few people on Twitter are claiming FGR ticket sales are at around 1,200....surely not?

Claims that we've sold around 11,500 so far.

Reality coming home to roost in Stepford tonight. Some random comments from their 3 forum members:

"I've an unwanted ticket now and I can't even find anyone to give it away to."

"I don't know where people think these extra thousands are coming from. I live in Thornbury which is only 20 miles away if that, it's amazing how many people have never even heard of us!"

"I work for The National League - As of yesterday just over 12,000 tickets sold and FGR share was .......well can I say I would rather not say. Grimsby on the other hand have two finals in 7 days and they have sold three times more for Sunday at the alleged 'short notice' than the weeks they have had to buy tickets for the FA Trophy final."

:fl::fl::fl: Comedy gold. You couldn't make this stuff up. :£:£:£:£:£

Absolutely, I won't rest until the FA put measures in place to end the nonsense of pointless little clubs like yours trying to buy a place in the greatest league in the world at the cost of great and historic, REAL football clubs. :£:£:£:£:£:£:£:£:£:£:£:£:£:£:£:£:£:£

"A large number of our fans cannot be bothered" - that's a cracker!! :fl: Another, more honest way of saying that would be to say "we just don't have any fans to speak of".

I'll be laughing all afternoon at that one.
There's 20 million of our fans "can't be bothered" mind. Still hasn't stopped some of us composing and recording a new club song for Wembley. That's passion. :£:£:£
You're rather smug as a supposed fan of city club when your home attendance is less than that of a mere village club.

Nah pal, any smugness is as a fan of a club whose attendances increased in a season when they got relegated. REAL club you see. When their team's in trouble, real fans don't walk away. :bdick::£:£:£:£:£

The hollowness at the heart of the success of fake clubs like FGR is now being exposed in all it's embarassing glory. The FA and Conference boards should be ashamed for allowing this to happen.:£:£:£:£:£

Failure or success, it's OURS. EARNED on our own merits. We're very proud of that, always have been, always will be. :£:£:£

A chance of promotion after well over a decade in the division is hardly the overnight bought success you bang on about ad nauseam either. Enjoy next Sunday.

Let's be fair though. If DV didn't keep appointing useless managers you may have gone up several years ago. Overnight you became a club capable of paying players 3 grand a week. Rare in this league.
