This team is capable of scoring 4 or 5 past Forest Green, something we would've done against Braintree had they not parked the bus for 210 minutes.

Eh? You scored 2 goals in 400 odd minutes against Braintree. And it's not like you created chance after chance either. Of course you'd have scored more if they hadn't bothered to defend properly, which was very unreasonable of them.

In fact when have you scored 4 or 5 against any half decent team? If you were that great you wouldn't have finished a distant 4th, below a part time team.

No doubt the likes of Amond, Bogle, Arnold, Marshall etc are dangerous players, but there is no way you're sticking 4 or 5 past our defence. We're no mugs.

CrazyImp in disguise?

This idiot clearly knows nothing about our club. Do some research before churning out crap like this. He seems to think that FGR were a pub side before DV bought us, when in fact we'd already been here 12 years, were already at The New Lawn and were averaging around 1000.

Our club has been built up over many years by a lot of hard working individuals, many volunteers and the fact that having built the club up into a Conference sized club, we were taken over by a multi millionaire who is pushing us on to the next level is a lot different to a club built up solely as one mans vanity project.

Both FGR and Dover are owned by local men, who want to bring success to their local clubs. And it's THEIR money, so they should be able to do what they like. Maybe if the moron writing this article had been able to achieve as much with his life as they had, he would be able to fund his football club and not be such a bitter little man.

I actually do agree with you on this Chris, if he had taken you over at step 8 or 9 with silly money it would seem a lot more ridiculous to be aiming for the Football League but you were already step 5 and just one step below when he took over, and much as you were not at the top end of it you were still in it, maybe one Braintree/Dover season away from a possible crack at it via play offs, stranger things have happened.
I know people will say you should have been relegated twice but it is not your fault that other teams went bust or were demoted.
There, sensible post over.

I'd say we created a fair amount of chances, especially enough to put away 4 or 5 had their back four and keeper not been by far and away the best in the league. My point was we are much better suited to playing a team like yours, unless you plan on parking the bus too. I don't think we will stick 4 or 5 past you but I do think if you try to get the ball down, we'll just simply play you off the park.

Oh and please let go of this idea that you are miles ahead of us all. You finished closer to us than you did Cheltenham.

Pretty much agree with all of this, despite the fact that I really would love to land one on Dale Vince's nose. The thing that strikes me about this division is that the small clubs who battle to stay up or finish mid table/top half get a condescending pat on the head from the 'BELTs' and their supporters, but the moment the small club gets a bit of success they become a 'bankrolled' shit nothing club with no fans and a shit ground - whether any of that is true or not seems irrelevant.

If Wrexham, Lincoln, Tranmere etc were able to win more football matches than the likes of FGR, Dover and Braintree then they would earn themselves the play off/Football League spot they feel that they have a god given right to have.

Just out of curiosity which Wrexham/Lincoln/Tranmere fans have said this, as i cannot remember any of them saying anything like that.

Yep, it's not easy supporting one of the 'smaller' sides. That article is quite frankly embarrassing and I really have no idea what the author hoped to accomplish by writing such crap.

I note currently that the poll at top of has 43 votes Grimsby and only 24 for FGR.
Not sure of significance because obviously there are more Grimsby fans voting for own side than FGR.
Right now, 7 out of the 45 who voted for Grimsby are Grimsby fans and 7 of the 25 who voted FGR are also FGR fans. Got a single rogue Grimsby fan voting for FGR, too.

I be the rogue fan:blush:. I usually like to lower my expectations and if we lose, at least the FGR fans won't laugh at me.

We've got 9 fans posting on here. So 2 obviously feel similar to you, or just can't be arsed to vote.

I think there's a quiet confidence about us for this, more so than last year.

However one good performance from him is not going to let me forget how much Hurst has shackled this team over the past 4 years. He needs to finish the job on Sunday to get any of that back.

The way you worded it i thought that you were just talking about people on this site.
I can't really pass comment on other teams forums as i will only occasionally browse one if we are playing them to see what they say.

Every time we lose to a club in this league someone starts a thread on our forum wailing about how we always lose to part time teams. A good portion of the time the team who beat us are full time. Or how we should be rolling over these teams because we had a pretry good team in the late 70s. Quite often the teams who beat us are better in placed in the league than us or have a far superior budget.

The moral of the story is: A lot of people are morons who know nothing about anything.

Every time I do this and we've won the opposition fans are saying "they were rubbish we were just worse". Every time.

Am I hearing correctly that FGR fans are moaning about the lack of free transport to the game?!

Of all the ones i've looked at the ones who have always been the most complimentary about us which may surprise some people are Eastleigh.
After all 4 games against them last season their fans were pretty much saying they were happy just to be playing us and we were easily the best team that had played them, especially after the play off games.
No sour grapes at all, just very complimentary.
Despite being bankrolled it seems their fans are still very humble with feet firmly on the ground, unlike another bankrolled team i could mention......
