Regarding tickets sold for Sunday I believe grimsby have sold 9 thousand we've sold 3 thousand, pisses me off that instead of doing everything possible to go a lot of "FGR" fans are moaning about costs etc, I'd do anything to watch my club at Wembley and as soon as we beat Dover I got my ticket.

Just annoys me that there's a large part of our fans that cannot be bothered to get off their asses and watch the club, our away following is shit and these people are the ones always moaning about the amount we take away!!!:ffs::ffs::ffs:

I cannot wait for Sunday but grimsby fans please go easy on the chants and singing because I'm already embarrassed.... Rant over.

Every time I do this and we've won the opposition fans are saying "they were rubbish we were just worse". Every time.

Yes! I think in the last decade or so I can probably count on one hand the number of times I've seen us win a game and opposition fans are saying we were actually half decent haha.

I'm sorry to break it to you, but when you have so many part time fans, when they're really asked to dip in and come together, they won't.

Nothing against you lot, it's just the reality of why you'll never have a decent away following. People aren't THAT into supporting FGR, it's just a convenient hobby to some every other Saturday. When they're asked to really show some passion, they cannot.

So many? Thanks for your inside knowledge there... But get what you mean I only support fgr but there are so many fans of premier league clubs even though they live miles away -_- it'd pathetic.

Well it's quite obvious with your poor ticket sales that 'so many' is a fair comment, because you've been to Wembley before and taken a fair few.

We're in the same boat for the weekend at lestt, 9k sold so far which isn't exactly brilliant either. The 4pm kick off means trains are nhy on impossible. Tickets are £40 and this is our 4th trip to new Wembley (5th to come next week too).

This will at least be the first time we've out numbered the opposition in our trips to New Wembley. Hopefully we finally win one.

"A large number of our fans cannot be bothered" - that's a cracker!! :fl: Another, more honest way of saying that would be to say "we just don't have any fans to speak of".

I'll be laughing all afternoon at that one.
There's 20 million of our fans "can't be bothered" mind. Still hasn't stopped some of us composing and recording a new club song for Wembley. That's passion. :£:£:£

To be honest if you cant be bothered to watch your side play at Wembley you can't really call yourself a fan - I think the same can be said of anybody who doesn't go to matches without good reason.

I just don't think the fanbase is there. Forest Green didn't come close to selling out either last year or this year's home leg in the play-offs. Not a dig on the fans who go, but if there was potential for FGR in Stroud they'd sell games like that out. Not 100% convinced Vince would get them big crowds at the new stadium site either - time will tell.

Suprised only 3k want tickets for Wembley though, you'd have thought there would be more from the Gloucester area etc. who fancy a day out. Think it may be a case of price, put it this way I think we'd take more daytrippers if we were going to Wembley this year than last year, because a £40 'day out' with travel etc. is pretty hefty. There are more concession prices/cheaper seats for the FL play-offs compared to the Conference final, which is bizarre.

Gashead- nor are many of us, time will tell, we will loose some as well as gain, its a big gamble....

I would be intrigued to know whats going on in Hursts mind. He loves to try to second guess and put out the team he thinks can beat the opposition, rather than actually putting on his best team.

However we have a few injuries as well of course as a massive change in management. The style and morale is quite different with Scott in charge. The addition of Cooper is an extra unknown.

How will Hurst deal with it all? On that hangs the result. Rely on us playing defensive s**t like we did for much of the season and he will probably get it right like he did at TNL. However we are very different, the defence is pretty solid still but our foreward play is very different. I dont think he will pick it right, as he wont be able to second guess who we will be playing. Against all that is Grimsbys squad is pretty big at the moment, we have the injury problems, but that too may play into our hands with Hurst not quite sure what to do.

I think we took 7,000-odd for the 1999 FA Trophy final at the old Wembley but prices were much cheaper (even with inflation) and we got heaps of day-tripping fans from other clubs in the region Swindon, Cheltenham, Bristol Rovers, Bristol City, etc... who wanted to watch plucky little FGR at Wembley. Now that we legitimately play against a few of these sides and are trying to get into the Football League those types of people won't go.
Our average crowds back then were under 1000 and this year were 1,780-odd I think. So our core support has definitely grown.
Also I think the floating fans have grown. Against Rovers in the semi-final last year our home support was about 1,850 and against Dover this year home fans numbered 2,400.
So while I'll be disappointed if we don't take around 5,000, I think things are definitely on the up.

If Gateshead can take 6000 to Wembley, then I would expect FGR to take more. Better supported club and all that.

Wasn't about 4,000 of that Newcastle fans? That was the season Newcastle were relegated and I believe loads of Newcastle fans went to watch gateshead as some sort of protest?

Our average home crowd has grown by around 50% over the past two seasons, which is brilliant, but I sort of accept your point about our current fanbase which isn't huge. I do however think that the cost is putting a lot of people off, particularly if you have kids as some areas of the ground have no concessions. My ticket cost me £44 which would be very steep for an occasional or semi-neutral fan. Don't get me wrong, I would happily pay more than that to see my team play at Wembley, but I understand that it is a lot of money for many.

If you compare the prices of our game to the Women's Cup Final on the Saturday it is a bit of a contrast. On Saturday an adult gets in for £15 and up to four accompanying children for free, there are even better deals for groups. The FA expect approaching 50k for the game on Saturday, at the moment I would be surprised if they get much over half of that on Sunday.

So 4000 people travel 400 miles there and back to watch a team they dont support but "a large number" of yours can't be bothered to travel half that to watch one that they do? I see..... :fl: Comedy gold.

Gateshead probably have more once a year fans with a population of 200,000.

No all our regular home fans and virtually all those that attended the home semi-final will go. A large number of the floating and once-a-year fans sound like they've been put off by the price, which is a shame.

Yep, that's right, but I'm not sure about the protest part. But the same could be said for you lot too, as not all the fans present will be 'proper' FGR fans. Mind you, I don't have a problem with the day trippers at all. The more the merrier I say.

I think you're giving Hurst a bit too much credit here. He literally just picks the side he dreams of the night before and tells them to do their own thing. There's not a lot of thought process behind it.

Gateshead is a large town in its own right, in a football hotbed, with potential to convert the resident Newcastle fans to support their hometown if they were ever successful. Same can't be said of Nailsworth.

I put it to you that the "floating and once a year fans", such as they are in your strange little village, went to the semi final. To pretend there are more out there is delusional, quite frankly. Good luck proving your imaginary friends exist. :fl::£:£:£

Our atmosphere was 10x better at Wembley last season when we'd lost the day tripper appeal.

Could well be the lowest ever attendance for a Wembley play-off final. That after the Mariners participated in the best attended last season (47,029) albeit 66% Brizzle fans. Current lowest is 16,346 Wrexham v Newport. (surprisingly - two fairly well followed clubs).

Bloody hell. At least if it was Dover or Braintree they'd probably have roped in a few more day trippers!
