Anyway, from a professional perspective, they have played a blinder by tapping into the UK's current fetish for schmaltzy, overly sentimental gubbins and made what is essentially a reminder that John Lewis is also a place where you can spend money, into a Christmas Tradition that gets as much coverage as it does.

Seriously though I dont see the issue. Adverts are annoying any time of the year. An advert in December is just as annoying as it is in July. Its as if some people want to only see Christmas ads from December 24th, like youd suddenly sit there and go 'ooo, what a nice ad and heart warming story'.

Also if you want to complain about ads being early, have a go at the people that do Christmas shopping early (women). Without those social miscreants, there would be no need for an early ad. Just a thought...
