Probably the best out of the bunch of no-hopers we've been linked with so far.

This very much reminds me of when Cotterill was appointed - with the suggestions of long ball football, shit signings and relegation, and look how that turned out.

I know this is a totally different kettle of fish, as Cotterill had actually achieved a few things before, whereas Saunders has basically done naff-all, but it'll be interesting to see whether he turns out like Cotterill did for us.

Personally - I don't think it will, but what do I know? I slated the board and Cotterill to fuck when he replaced SoD.

Definitely still got a few years left in him - a very good player IMO.

Loved him at City. I'd advise you not to judge by his goalscoring record - he has far more to his game than that.

Considering we play 1 up top usually if he doesn't score then we are screwed. Rather a striker who puts the ball in the net tbh, as strikers should do.

You played 1 up top under Cook - Saunders will bring with him new ideas, and change a fair bit I'd imagine.

To be fair, I think that Saunders will be a 2 up top man, all he keeps talking about is strikers, options up front, being able to win ugly, etc.

Last time Chesterfield fans went into meltdown (after Doyle was sold), I calmed them all down and I was right.

If you manage to keep Morsy, Roberts and Clucas I think you will be alright. Saunders isn't exactly an amazing manager but he isn't the worst manager by any stretch of imagination. I think next season you will secure a comfortable mid table finish.

Well the vultures already circling, a bid for Clucas turned down.

I wish those mean bigger boys would just fuck off and leave us alone.

You have no reason to sell Clucas unless it's a huge bid so hopefully you will just reject any bid than comes in.

It's not like you're having money issues and have to sell your best players.

I always though Clucas was a striker when he was at Mansfield but from what you lot have been saying he's more of a midfielder. He looked shite up front anyway. What's his best position?

He's a left midfielder really but played most of the second half of the season at left-back. He's just a good footballer, wherever you play him.

And to think we paid Mansfield about 70k for him.

For people that understand why we're quick selling anyone for a half decent fee, it's been well known for a while that Dave Allen has wanted out. At the start of this season I believe that we were in 6 million pounds of debt, all to him. So its widely thought that he's wanting to get the debt down so he can sell the club easier.

Well, if he manages to claw his money back, he may realise that actually we can operate at a profit and stick with it, who knows.

It'd be nice if selling players chipped away at the debt though and didn't just cover losses. If we don't make a decent profit this year some serious questions need asking at the AGM.

Crossley re-joins the backroom staff. A welcome addition!

I'd have thought with him being a Barnsley man, he'd have been very happy in his current role. I hope we haven't had to agree to give him shit loads of monies for him to come, after all Dave Allen wants to get that debt down....

He did do good things with Tommy Lee previously so that's a positive at least.
