Don’t think we got out of second gear much yesterday. MK came to play. They were much more dangerous going forward than I expected, but defensively I think the polite word is that they are frail. Geoffrey Boycott would be delighted with Whitaker’s free kick for our first, right in the corridor of uncertainty and the keeper was taken in.

two sides playing very similar styles, so it was a bit dull at times, but MK did not look like a relegation side.

11 wins out of 12 at home, which alone would put us eight In the table. Sorry that is 12 out of 13.

A worrying statistic for us is going back to the second half of last season we’ve now managed just 9 wins in our last 42 league games. And only 1 of those was by 2 goals. Given how good we were for the first half of 21/22 we really have crashed and burned ever since.

I know you are just baiting me haha. It worked yesterday.
i also assumed BO had cast his fishing rod, however, there is the germ of truth in his wind up. I realise the very unusual situation for you in the first year in league two, but from the outside it does appear that your Jan incomings are better than your summer acquisitions.

Tbf I agree that January seems to be more productive than summers. I don’t think we are yet in a position to compete for players we want (especially free agents) financially against the likes of Wednesday, Ipswich etc (and the Sunderlands/Wigans of last season)…so we try to steal a march on them by paying small fees 6 months before they are out of contract. I’m pretty sure all the players we’ve paid fees for have had 6 months left on their contracts… Charles, Dempsey, Morley, Toal all were. Not 100% sure on Sadlier but there were rumours that was a free transfer in the end because he wanted out and Rotherham wanted to save the wage. Still can’t believe Morley was only 75k mind even with 6 months left. He’s a great footballer who should go on and play at a higher level.

I’m not saying those clubs would have been interested in the players we signed btw. Just that I think that is the thought process…to try to beat other clubs to the players we want. *

It tends to go against what is conventional wisdom regards Bolton and January as more often than not you tend to get more panic signings than anything.

Should be a decent game between Bolton and Barnsley. If there is a team I could see breaking into the top three it would be Barnsley.

Santos back on the bench. Wish he was starting. Not confident at all today

I know what you mean but I don’t think they are panic signings though. I think Evatt is the sort of manager that will just not sign anyone if it’s not the right person…a panic loan at worst. No way we are spending money on a panic signing nowadays. We only pay for players that we believe could make us a profit in a couple of years. Whether they do make us money or not is another question but that’s certainly what we are trying to do.

I was speaking more generally about panic signings in January. Obviously Bolton have gone against that and improved. Not often you see that in successive windows.

Red card for Barnsley and a pen for us. The same happened 2/3 mins ago where he should have been sent off as well as last man and ref didn’t give anything. Crazy

Looking at it again … the first one the ref gave nothing for was actually worse than the one he gave the red and pen for.

It’s going to be a long afternoon, Wednesday are all over us, soft as shit pen mind.

We need players in sharpish, incredibly threadbare.

Soft but you can’t do that these days. It’s always going to be given.

I know Cambridge are struggling lately and have a lot missing but they’re as poor as anything I’ve seen this season

Barnsley gifting us this game today. Red card/pen then some of the worst defending you’ll ever see.

The big boys like like yourselves will always get those decisions, little pond fodder like us don’t.

Thought we came into it a bit more as the half went on but can’t complain about the score, we just can’t compete with a team like yourselves at the minute, our injuries have been well documented and you only have to look at our bench to see how depleted we are, only 5 player’s on it with 3 of those youngsters.

Watching the game on I follow. These Lincoln commentators must have been pulled out of the crowd surely. Totally clueless

Switch to Ipswich commentary then!

Except Lincoln to sit very deep in this half after rightfully going down to 10 men. Edwards and Chaplin to be introduced around 60 minutes for me.

I suppose it's one of the benefits of having large home crowds. You can almost guarantee that Wednesday, Derby etc. Will get the most home penalties this season.....although Wednesday's penalty against us was a penalty.

I don’t know where to find the stats, and I might be wrong but I don’t think we’ve had loads of penalties this season.

It was a soft one today, but it was still a penalty. He got the wrong side of Windass then barged him in the back. I’d fully expect it to be given against us if it was the other way around.

Could be rather important Wednesday winning by this margin for the GD advantage if the top 3 are going to be as tightly bunched all season.

Fair play Wednesday totally played us off the park and I don’t even think you was trying that hard, Defensively we’ve been shocking obviously.

We got thrashed last season in this game and we comfortably stayed up but we’re certainly in the shit more this time.

Fair play to Wednesday and Plymouth. That result with the stats to go with it sums up our season

Outclassed Barnsley today.

Third goal was outstanding.

Roll on Plymouth.

Another good result for Derby. Looks like they're in a good groove at the moment. Similar Bolton although they're a bit more inconsistent. Feels like we're the best of the rest at the moment, with pretty much every team above us having a significantly higher budget. I hope we're that one surprise package that happens every year.

Ipswich best team we have played comfortably...the entire team was good whereas some of the others up there rely on 2 or 3. I think you'll be top 2 come the end of the season.
