why do united keep winning

Look at the teams they have beaten since the new year.

QPR
Leicester
Burnley
Sunderland
Newcastle

No disrespect to those teams but, bar perhaps Newcastle, I would expect even an uninspiring, turgid, shite United team like this to pick up the points against them. They're all in the bottom half and 3 of them currently occupy the relegation spots.

By contrast, lets look at their next 6 fixtures.

Spurs
Liverpool
Villa
City
Chelsea
Everton

I don't believe they will still be in the top 4 after those games.

Slightly unrelated I know but I will be in Orlando for both the Citeh and Chelski games if anyone wants to meet to watch :D

Can I also issue a polite reminder to the Scousers.

Liverpool have lost a total of 12 games this season.
Manchester United have lost half this figure.

And of those 6 defeats I refer you all to the following
Swansea (h) - was just stupid we outplayed them start to finish and had the entire back 8 injured
Leicester (a) - 3-1 up and again having to play forwards in defence killed us, we were the better team that day
Citeh (a) - tore them apart, even citeh fans admit it
MK Dons (a) - played the reserves
Swansea (a) - most horrendous deflection imaginable from a Scouser no less, and made countless chances, should have won
Southampton (h) - the only game I can hold my hand up and say we deserved to lose

So I hereby invite you to place this information in your collective pipes and proverbially smoke this.

I shall post this claim in the league thread as some don't see the match day info ;)

Do you purposely arrange business trips/holidays for the dates of fixtures that United are likely to lose?

Probably not since he has no trips planned during Spurs and Liverpool game.

We were poor again. We're lacking any sort of identity in nearly every game now. We controlled the game, but control with no guile is useless. It seems we're just controlling possession hoping something will happen. Shit to watch.

Once again, I'm obviously very disappointed in the performance. But we still got the result which is what matters at this stage of the season. If we finish top four it'll be a fantastic achievement considering how things have gone. The stationary play needs to stop though.

Agreed - he has been impersonating a professional footballer for far too long now!

They might actually do better than people think in the bigger matches, if memory serves the only big team they've lost to this season was City away when they had a man sent off early on. I've never seen a team play this crap all season and still have some sort of success, I guess points are all that matters at this stage but for £150m you expect far better. If he achieves 4th then he will have done the very bare minimum required of him. It's a fine line as finish 5th and I reckon he should be sacked.

Great stuff after GeordieBoy's constant bigging up of Krul and slagging off of De Gea. Timothy will never be at David's level.

Superb tenacity from Rooney for the winner, very important 3 points given the other results tonight.

It was Abeids fault, as Carver rightly said.... 100mph back pass. Timothy the Great has just got back from a long term injury young man, he will prove (once again) he is the greatest goalkeeper to grace the game once he's back in the swing of things. The fluffy Spanish lad hasn't got shit on him, and no amount of over exaggerating every single save he makes will change that.

We should have had a throw in in the build up to the winner, and a stone wall penalty in the first 10 mins, shove your tenacity up your arse mate. We were robbed and you were shite.

It's a shame that a bad kick from an even worse back pass is being remembered rather than the two or three excellent saves Krul made. Abeid looked out of his depth from the first thirty seconds when he almost cost Newcastle a goal until the 89th minute when he eventually did. Man Utd were typically naff and uninspiring, but continue to hold onto the last Champions League spot somehow. I really don't know how, it's something to do with De Gea.

Excellent points mate. I'm pleased you have the intelligence to see what really happened. I've always liked you, me.

They're paying the officials very well. Only conclusion I can draw mate. Stonewall pen knocked back, goal shouldn't have counted etc. If we get that pen we deserve we go on to win 4 or 5 nil,, no doubt in my mind. They're cheating scum buddy.

Yes mate, excellent post. And bare in mind we were robbed last night, the correct result was a Newcastle 1-0 win, though I imagine had we been given the penalty we deserved early on we'd have gone on to smash that shite by several goals to nil. Watching Man Yoo is like watching tennis, the ball goes side to side for an eternity, no creativity and no bollocks, they were scared shitless of our counter attacking prowess and had to resort to, what I can only asume is bribery of a match official. Disgusting has-been club, I agree mate.

I'm not usually one for picking on daft opinions mate, but passing side to side just over the half way line does not equate to controlling a game. I'd describe it as fucking woeful personally. We were more than happy to watch you dick about doing fuck all for 90 minutes, unfortunately we were cheated in the end.

I felt we played OK in the first half but still lacked that final ball. Players were coming short to pick it up and Rooney offered good movement while also holding the ball up well.

It's not great at the moment but I can see little signs of improvement. Yeah I can sit here and bitch about how long it's taking to sort out the system and starting XI, but as long as we're picking up the results I can't complain at the minute. Our performances against the top teams have been good too.

You had one shot on target in the first half mate and should have been at least 1-0 down, if that's "ok" for a £160mil outlay then Mr. "Judge Me In 3 Months" (whatever happened to that btw?) needn't worry about his future.

Next game, count how many times United play a first time pass, I bet you won't have to use all of your digits. They always take two touches in order to keep possession, it is fucking depressing to watch. I don't see any improvement, if anything I've seen the opposite since the turn of the year. Results aren't worth having to watch this every week - feels like two hours wasted every week.

lol no mate kids school holidays up here, have to fall in with those, so easter always an issue, the fa cup semi final will interrupt all the plans anyway I think

When I say improvement, I'd have to stress it is incremental. If we didn't somehow stumble onto results these 'improvements' would be negligible if that.

LVG will most probably continue with this 'safer' possession based football until we reinforce in the summer. It's difficult to watch at times, but I'd prefer it over playing football with flair while losing out on the top 4 places this season. Our defending continues to be suspect at key moments in games, and playing prettier/riskier/more open football would further expose this.

Statistics wise it was a very comprehensive victory, we were in total control throughout, cant argue with that

We controlled the game in terms of Newcastle posing absolutely no threat. We were terrible also, but Newcastle didn't make it as awkward as it should have been. It was terrible for both teams.

Abeid is awful but if Timothy was so Great he wouldn't have put it on a plate for Ashley, if you think he's better than De Gea then you're a fucking idiot, he's very average.

We had a goal wrongly disallowed, shit happens.

The same could be said of you offering no threat. We should have had a pen (did I mention that yet?), Cisse should have scored, and we had a couple of decent chances on top of that. You offered about as much of a threat as we did, a team that spends no money and is riddled with injuries. £160mil well spent.
