At least he's unlikely to score against us from the sidelines

It's shefqi kuqi's job now according to reports. I'm sure they are just banding names about in an attempt to keep fans interested but in truth I've never been so Meh about my club. Not looking forward to this season one bit.

Do you think that Oldham are now Finnished in their job search ?

Don't worry, my coat is already on

I'm surprisingly intrigued by this one.

Sean O'Driscoll as DOF
Shefki Kuqi as 1st team Coach
Peter Shirtliff as Assistant

It's going to be interesting, that's for sure.

Shirtliff was awful in his breif spell with us in 2012. But maybe he's better as an assistant. Not sure on the other two but can't be as bad as Dunn and Kelly surely?

Shirtliff was our assistant whilst Shez was here and our defence improved massively.

Seems like it's almost as depressing being an Oldham fan as an away fan at Oldham...

On a slight tangent, I believe the Liam Kelly deal is back on after he failed the initial medical with a knee complaint.

The kings of WABLO seem to be in serious trouble just a month before the season is about to begin. No manager still since big John left for a team in the lower division and recently Steve Evans has also turned them down.

New rumours circling are saying shefki kuqi will take over with help from others. With only 4 proffesional players at the club and the team starting pre-season this week could this be the end for Oldham? Will they survive yet again and keep the title for another year?

The WABLO crew has been destroyed these last few years, especially with our brief spell away. I hope Oldham can keep their WABLO status, I'm glad to be back with them. #WABLO

They look buggered at the minute, an inexperienced manager is the last thing they need at the minute as well.

Supposed to be signing a load this week but we are pretty fucked as it stands. Can't remember feeling so pessimistic in pre season.

If you've got Pembo coming in, you've got a good one. I can understand him leaving but, as JJH said, I'm gutted. He's a fine coach, a genuinely nice fella and plays good football. He also knows how to keep the fans 'onside' and speaks his mind. Many City fans put alot of our recovery last season down to JP (and Wade Elliott) after they took over, temporarily, from Cotterill and changed our formation. Suddenly, we started winning.
My lasting memory of Pembo at our place will be him striding across the pitch at Craven Cottage thumping his chest to 5,000 celebrating Cidereds after our late win there. He is very popular among our support.
He deserves a chance as a no 1 and I would like to think he came close to getting our job before LJ got it.
Good luck to Pembo, he will always get a great ovation at the Gate. I can't speak highly enough of the bloke.

EDIT: Looks like he's staying with us. :) Our local press have been wrong before though.

Thoughts on Pemberton as a coach? I imagine he won't be the one worrying about player recruitment so his whole focus will be on the team itself.
Cotterill was sacked in mid January last year, we were shipping goals left right and centre.

Pemberton came in, he changed the formation, changed the lineup, and in his four games in charge we conceded two goals, and we played West Brom and Boro (who had gone 10 in a row without conceding when we played them, until we beat them 1-0). He turned our season around. He knows how to set up at team, and he'll get 110% out of every single player you have. The football wasn't pretty at all under him, but it was everything we needed to regroup and go on a run in the second half of the season that saw us pick up the sixth most points in the league.

I will always love the bloke here, he's a great character. I just saw that our local rag are reporting he's going nowhere, that probably means he'll be announced later on today.

I'll wish him the absolute best in management if he goes, but as I said before I'll be absolutely gutted.

With their past record, I would be booking a taxi Oldham fans, press conference later! :hypo:
Considering JJH worked with them for a while, I would assume he's heading North as we speak.

Latest is Steve Robinson

We have probably offered terms to every single one of the names mentioned. It's a case of them all rejecting i reckon

I think Pembo would have been a great appointment but Johnsons' preferred no 2 turned us down meaning we needed him to stay.
IF you do, eventually, end up with Pembo, give the guy a chance, he's very good.

It's not about the manager anymore. We are destined to fail with the walls the club is run. Have to be mad or desperate to take the head job at our place at the moment. That's why we are having such trouble appointing anyone.

Whoever gets it is on a hiding to nothing

A single unitary authority for urban Dorset
SoD and Stevie Robinson, like Bournemouth's midfield circa 1996

Sure you know what you're getting with SoD, he's been around long enough. Hasn't had much go his way for some time now though.

Don't be surprised if you see one or two of our teenagers come in. Whether that'll be any help or not I've no idea.

Good appointment, and more staff to come in. Made a couple of signings already too. Remains to be seen whether we can get a team together and gelled for the start of the season though. He certainly has his work cut out.

This doesn't paper over the huge cracks in our ownership structure either. Regardless of the fact we couldn't appoint him til after n Ireland got knocked out of the euros doesn't mean the communication out of the club couldn't have been much much better. Still much to do from the board to win the fans over
