The club has just tweeted we've sold out our allocation of 1850 for Macclesfield New Year's Day. Amazing if true but I find it hard to believe, nobody I know actually has a ticket yet, including me.
I mean this in a good way, not in a taking the piss way, but if you had sold out the 1850 why would you be amazed?
You are a big club, top of the league, with a 104 mile round trip on New Years Day, it would be more amazing if a club of your size riding high at the top did not sell them out to be honest.
Like I say I don't mean that in a negative way but if you stay around the top then as a neutral fan looking in I would expect you to sell out pretty much every away game within a 100 mile radius of Tranmere until the end of the season.
Good luck anyway, looks like being an exciting title race this season.

We haven't historically been prolific travellers, Grimsby certainly seem to be better on the road than us for example. I'd be surprised if we take many more than 1000-1200 on new years day.

Saying that, I can see Macclesfield's 'no cash turnstiles' policy causing major headaches on the day, as there will be plenty of our lot having to visit their ticket office prior to the game. I'll certainly be getting there early!

It surprises me how our club still doesn't allow pay on the gate, but at least away supporters have their own ticket office so that should help a little. We've managed ok with bigger followings than Tranmere will bring, Vale used to bring 3000 or so and we managed, but still expect a lot of queuing and definitely don't expect a pleasant match day experience!

We've now sold 4194 tickets for the cup tie at Ipswich, the club are hoping for more but it's down to Suffolk Police.

I'll put this in the correct thread...

Ipswich have now decided to make the game all ticket - 1 week before the game.

A 4th allocation of 700 or so tickets, taking our final allocation to 4,833.

Still don't get why they won't just give us the whole stand.

Tremendous following that, hope you all have a great day out and take the tie to a replay at least.

Why the big interest? Likely to get smashed and they're hardly glamorous opposition. Impressive following nonetheless.

Your guess is as good as mine. I have absolutely no idea. Prices are £10/£5, so that might have tempted a few but not this many.

No more tickets after this batch.

Lincoln fans are very fickle, they want something to cling onto (which we haven't had for over 10 years) but once there's something to turn up and watch, they'll come out in their numbers.

But the population of Lincoln and the surrounding areas (North Hykeham) is over 130,000 - and with no major clubs on our doorstep, there's a potentially big club in there somewhere.

We have a bigger regular away support, that's all - and the difference there may be mostly accounted for by Nth Lincs exiles. There is no way Gy would get 7k at BP on a Monday night even if were top of the league and it was a tenner. Lincoln have a better home ground in a much less run-down area. We've lost 25-30% of home support compared to the 70s, alot no doubt the 'Shire farming set who don't fancy passing boarded-up pubs along dog shit alleys - we won't get those sorts back until we have a new stadium, and many of those who live in those terraced streets around BP can't afford to go to home games regularly.

Sprouts and apathy Lincolnshire's two great gifts to the world:fl:
Most we've taken anywhere for an away game since I think Fulham in 1982 when around 6000 went bar the playoff finals in 2003 and 2005.
Our average home crowd this season is 3644 so to sell 4833 is just amazing.

Bigger question is whether you can get 4800 home fans every week for the rest of the season.

Would expect us to get past 8k a few times in the run in if we are involved.

Not if we start losing, as we've said our 'fans' are a very fickle bunch.
I imagine a very large chunk of those going next week will be heard saying at full time if we've lost 'Well that was a waste of bloody time, they were crap I'm not going again!' Like they did after the playoff finals.
To be fair I've been very surprised by our crowds this season only one league of less than 3000 when we played Southport.
I've been to all the home games so far and even my 11 year old daughter wants to go all the home games now and is looking forward to going to her first ever away next week.

Same as all teams' fans then - they're all fickle. That's why managers get sacked so readily.

We had a big gate (for us) on Boxing Day, though the match was poor mainly because of the ridiculous wind and Gateshead's good defending - the part-time brigade on Facebook: "same as ever, they were rubbish - not gonna bother again".

Happened to us every time we had a bumper 12k+ gate in league one. Actual core supporter base is probably as high as it has ever been, very bizarre given our rapid decline.

We took 8,000 to Middlesbrough a few years back - by the next week the crowds were back down to 1,000 or so. Our core support is probably the 500 or so that were still bothering when we were bottom of Conference North a few years ago. Unlike you, our biggest hindrance seems to be the stadium itself - a lot of people can't see past the crumbling ground and think "I'm not paying £14 to stand in that".

I'm not sure we will top 8k this season, we've played our two main local rivals at home and our game v FGR is in midweek. Will get closest in the home game with Southport if both sides still have something to play for then.

If we are top 2 we will get over 8000 v southport and aldershot.... promotion fever will kick in.

If we make fa trophy final club may try to pull a priority voucher thing and non football glory hunters will flock to the ground not realising we will have 30000 tickets to get shut of

We had 9k for the play off semi vs Luton in 2012 (obviously they brought a few) I think our average attendance that season was around the 4k mark

If southport was a big game it'd be far higher than 8k.
