I haven’t got a clue what you mean about “caused a stir”, but if virtually every club took their biggest away following to Rovers like they have to Notts this season than it might mean something.

I’m not into willy waving but while we’re a similar size to the likes of Rovers or Port Vale, I would suggest our history pisses on theirs.
You just waved it. :fl:

That's much better, much more realistic comparison.

Brizzle Rovers and Port Vale are the two clubs I most associate with the Stylish Magpies when talking size of clubs.

Well done you.

What about Halifax? Traditionally who are you most similar to in terms of historic attendances and league position? You'll have to educate me as you've been off my radar for almost 20 years
Oh there's a whole plethora of us Mickey Mouse Football League outfits. Hartlepool, Wrexham, Aldershot, Darlington, Chester and a host of others. It's all borne out here, check it out: http://www.european-football-statistics.co.uk/england.htm

70 years in the League, 40+ at step 3, twice in 5th round of the cup. Oh and NONE of them can match our 2 Aces- City and United both beaten in cup ties at The Shay.

Spoony, MasterBator, facts don't care about your feelings. :fl:

I'll select Aldershot and Chester from those proposed. Wrexham aren't comparable at all.

Sunderland or Wednesday :pmsl:

Maybe Chipmunx went in the away end so that after the game when he goes on their forum he has something to talk to them about?

Yeah they are. They're actually almost our most frequent opponent, we've only played (and beaten) Rochdale more often (another fellow Mickey Mouser). Hartlepool aren't far behind them either. Facts don't care about your feelings. :fl:

Which facts are these? Who's played in which divisions the most? None of those clubs mentioned mean much of anything to me, maybe Wrexham a little.

I've re-read your post, and can't see anything that would make anyone ROFL. What am I missing here folks?

It's all in the link I gave you. If you can't be bothered to look, I can't help you. We're done here, bye. :ds:

I looked at it briefly, and I don't see Halifax Town and Notts County as historically comparable, at all. Not even close tbh at any stage

Obviously , at present, being in the same league we are sadly very comparable.

Whilst I don't doubt you are the "biggest" club currently down here (surely something to be embarrassed about rather than proud?), the away fans bit is a little misleading. You are after all in the middle of the country. If Plymouth ever ended up down here they would be by far the biggest but they wouldn't get these away followings because you northerners can't cope with the distance ;)

Naturally being in the middle of the country helps significantly, but no doubt Nottingham the city helps boost away followings. Plus Nottingham as an away day at either the City Ground or Meadow Lane both get great reviews from visiting fans for a variety of reasons

Certainly not proud of being the biggest anything here, I was responding to the Halifax guy who claimed Bristol Rovers caused a ‘bigger stir’. He still hasn’t explained what that means.

Notts is a good day out, from the city, to the ground and to what was a pretty good atmosphere on Saturday, which maybe is something to be proud of. Port Vale is in the middle of the country, and I bet you wouldn’t get 600 odd Torquay fans going there. That’s what makes us a bit different.

No official figure announced at Maidenhead, but around 400 Stones at York Street.

Haven't seen an attendance (nevermind an away attendance) stated for our match at Bromley, but looked about 300 Aldershot on the away terrace

Something dodgy with that, the away end was nearly full. At least 600 Darlo.
Tiny away end mind
I've been in there when we've had half that and it's felt plenty cosy
The pig pens can't hold more than about 50 each plus the bits at the sides
