Straw man. I never implied that we have always taken 700 to Wxm nor that we always will but right now, if we'd been at home on Saturday and were playing you away tomorrow, there'd be 700 there as a minimum. With 6000 season ticket holders you'd have to say 400 was below average, if that's what you bring. I supect it'll be over 500, closer to 600.

Its not a straw man, its using a precedent. You cant just claim that you'd definitely do something that you've never once done before.

Why are we suddenly going to bring 1000s of fans away? and especially on a Tuesday to somewhere that is 3 hours away from Wrexham? and not just that, we draw our support from all across North Wales, Wrexham isn't a huge place. If you live in Anglesey you aren't about to drive 4 or 5 hours to Grimsby getting home at 2/3 in the morning.

We shall find out in January because we play you on a Tuesday night

Ah I see.

Have you taken 700 to us before? on a Tuesday? I do sometimes forget how massive Grimsby are. In 2014 you took 360 on a Saturday
Weirdly enough that season was probably where our away following got good for some reason (compared to our home attendances). For example, 4th highest away attendances in 19/20 with the 9th highest home attendances and being lower midtable for the whole season. Using stats from 2014 seems slightly outdated don’t you think?
Don't let the facts get in the way.

Grimsby fans proper hate it when a team at this level all of a sudden gets bumper crowds. Reminds them too much of their biggest rivals becoming MASSIVE overnight.
Your head is swelling. I’m really sorry our decent away support offends you so much. Tbh it’s only you and Lincoln that have really exploded in floating support. And Scunthorpe never became massive overnight?

That 700 estimate has nothing to do with previous or future Grimsby followings to Wxm or supposedly implied illusions of stature and everything to do with the two followings we've had so far and the uplift in mood since we got our new chairmen (sound familiar?). Wrexham county borough has essentially the same population as North East Lincs so don't give me that diaspora malarkey. 8000 home crowd and a win followed by 400 away for a 3 hour journey is below average especially considering how buoyed your fan base is. Like I said, I suspect it will be more.

The late Bill Frindall, the Test Match Special statistician would have said you need to calculate, for each team, total away fan miles over the season and divide this by total home fan numbers over the season. And the winner is always Grimsby...

...however, if we keep selling home tickets at the current rate we may not win - maybe one of the tinpotters will with about 500 home fans but an average of 100 away.

I dont blame people for wanting to get away from Grimsby, if only for a day.
At least put a bit of originality in the insults, every time we take a good away following somebody pipes up with that shit.

Yeah you can’t blame any Hardcore Barnet for not showing up tonight after what their owner has done to them. Up against a money tree team and not won a game all season, good luck to anyone going on a long one tonight weather is horrid all over.

Stones have sold around 180 tickets for Notts County away tonight, allocation has just been increased again and will probably be close to 200 by kick off. UTS.

Nor long distance weekend fixtures either it would seem. 57 at Grimsby?
Grimsby is a place we’ve played at plenty of times and there is not much motivation to go there.
I am considering whether it might be possible for me to take a half day off and go to the Kings Lynn match on the 5th though!
We’ll still take good numbers to yourselves and Boringwood.

Always amazes me when fans use excuses not to go to matches, such as not a new ground, place is rubbish etc.

I don't know about anyone else but when I go matches I go to watch and support my team not to admire the ground or place.

It takes a wild amount of money and effort to get to every away game over a season. I go to as many as I can, but obviously people are going to prioritise based on places they’ve not been before or where you can have a great day out around the football.

People have life’s too, I’m missing Wrexham this weekend been to all games so far, reason is the trains are an absolute joke price wise (£80) and that’s with part of it being replacement bus. Been on the coach few times but I don’t live local to our ground anymore to make it a viable option.

I will always choose a new ground to tick off over one I’ve been to already if they’re close together dates wise. King’s Lynn over Wrexham was always the one despite it being on TV. Our away attendance at Wrexham Saturday will be very low thanks to the trains and the oldies who usually take coach not taking the risks this season.

Agreed. Usually boils down to money for me. In the same way that people living in Chesterfield might only go to home games because of money, I tend to try and stick to the London based away games (luckily there are plenty) - with the odd home game chucked in throughout the year.

So a 700 estimate is in fact based off nothing? I would be hugely impressed with you bringing that many on a Tuesday, even at this point of the season.

The increase in home fans was never going to correlate with the away following to somewhere like Grimsby on a Tuesday (not an attractive place to go and too far to leave after work or on an early dart)....especially sandwiched between two home games and after already trekking to Eastleigh and Southend so far this season.

We were always going to sell out the likes of Stockport and Solihull etc, the locality of them makes them more attractive to us (Plus a mini-rivalry kind of thing with Stockport).

Grimsby fan on Red Passion says you've sold out home tickets....Impressive home attendance whatever we bring, should be a cracking atmosphere.
