Very true, but many leagues aren't that competitive with only two or three teams likely to be crowned Champions, and outside that handful there are teams who play in front of pretty poor crowds. There are of course a few exceptions, England and Germany, where all teams in the top league are well supported and that tends to extend to lower levels. However, the sorts of crowds we get in the Conference, particularly the likes of Luton and Bristol Rovers in recent seasons, would be totally unheard of almost anywhere in the fifth tier.

Here are the current years stats for Regionalliga West (one of 5 divisions in tier 4 Germany).
http://www.rot-weiss-essen.de/hafenstrasse/1-mannschaft/regionalliga.html
You need to click on the tab ''zuschauerstatistiken''
As with the conference, the 4 clubs at the top of the list are 'fallen clubs', three of which have been relegated for financial reasons not for anything they have done on the pitch.
Elsewhere there are U23 teams (who normally play any important game the same time as the parent club to avoid problems) and small provincial sides making up the numbers (there are 144 teams in the top 4 tiers).
I don't know much about the other 4 regional leagues (Kickers, Saarbruken and Magdeburg get 6-8k, the latter recently got 16k for a game), or indeed the 5th tier Oberliga, although there is one club (Wuppertaler) who are capable of big crowds. The largest Oberliga crowd I have been in is 7k.

I'd estimate that there were 790 of us at Dartford.

Not sure how when we were only given 2604 tickets! But I'll take it.

Shocking away attendance from Grimsby though ;)

Not even half what you brought to us in the FA Cup in October. In fact I think you've brought far more than that on Tuesday nights before. To be fair there wasn't exactly a lot for the 142 to get excited about on the pitch either.

Not segregated but there must have been around 400 of us today.

The total attendance was larger than Alfreton's stated capacity! How was it going down that slope and getting into the ground?
Strangest ground entrance I've ever seen!
Sliding down a muddy bank ducking under tree branches to get to the entrance, nice!! ;)

All 2500 of you!
Some people on the Barnet forum reckon we formed the majority of the crowd today so I'd up my estimate to 900.

Yeah, we seemed to have the majority of fans on both sides.

20 Gy fans watched from the top of the bank - assume they travelled without tickets.

We got in the home end from North Street without a bother. But these looked like likely lads and had a plod with them all game so maybe they got turned away from the home turnstiles, or maybe they didn't even bother trying.

Alfie stewards were good - they let about a dozen of us through into the away overflow area down the side.

I thought the middle pen of the away end looked a bit overstuffed - not seen any terrace that packed for a long time.

And it seemed more like 300 than 400 TC.

I heard Grimsby fans who had smuggled themselves in to the home end got picked out by the stewards and sent to the away end?

Glad to hear the positive reviews on the stewards. I must admit I have not seen such a police presence for an Alfreton game in a long, long time

So 250 Shaymen, not quite the 500 he said would make the shortish journey from Yarkshire! Wonder if he always gets the numbers wrong by 50% :pond:.
And they weren't spread out either! Poor turnout as you said Branston was expecting more like 500, heard a few were on sauce early doors maybe they didn't make it to the game?

Very poor for us that, would have expected 400 personally. Think we took nearer 500 last year - but that was the day after the transfer window closed and kept Gregory.

Think a lot of our support think the season's over... and it probably is after today

I took this picture 45 minutes before kick-off and it was already rammed in there by then. It filled up quite a lot more than that by 3pm as well as the sides of the stand. We sat in the seats in the side stand just by the half way line.

Great Pic. It was a beautiful day for it too and great to see and hear the Impact bouncing.

Looks like I was virtually straight opposite you too.
