Good luck with that Gas, I saw the dissapointing renders but a new stadium can be a huge boost for a club and one the size of Bristol Rovers really ought to be playing at a higher level.

I'm not saying we'll be premier league in 10 years but in 03/04 swansea was bottom of the football league. Got new stadium then boom. Would be nice to be getting 12,000 regularly when doing well in league one and pushing 16,000 for big games

A ground with a capacity of 11,200 isn't small!

Poor choice of words on my part, what I was really trying to say that it wasn't large enough to satisfy the likely demand, it certainly isn't small by Conference standards. If Bristol Rovers can sell out their ground for a game in the fifth tier then an ambitious board might be able to claim that they would need a far larger ground, to meet probable need, if they could move up a couple of divisions.

I would suspect that many clubs who build new grounds get a bit of a rise in attendances, at least in the early days, it is up to the team on the pitch to produce football that makes them want to keep coming back. Swansea is a perfect example, they were probably on the rise when the stadium was given the go-ahead but there is little doubt that crowds continued to rise because there was space to accommodate them. I think they are about to enlarge the ground as well.

Top effort for another nothing game miles away on a Tuesday. I'd have been impressed with the 9.

Talking to some of their fans on the turnstile last night it appeared quite a lot were from the local area so it didnt put them out too much. That said I have a lot of respect for the 15 odd that travelled down on a minibus, takes a lot of dedication to do that!

Decent numbers from Aldershot today but I was quite disappointed with them to be honest. Each season we've played them, they have always been a noisy bunch of buggers, but hardly heard a peep from them today.

There was about 20-30 of us making some noise towards the back of the stand although maybe you couldnt hear us at the other end of the ground, although we were quieter than we would usually be, being 2-0 down very early on didnt help.

That said, I heard very little from your fans either - was it genuinely quiet or was it just we couldnt hear you up the other end?

Just out of interest, from your view did 102 look about right or did it look a bit more? My gut feeling was we had closer to 150 but its always harder to tell when your stood in the middle of the stand.

I know we scored early on but in previous seasons you lot never shut up from first whistle to last, the score didn't seem to matter. :bg:

As you say there were a few of you at the back of the stand so it was rather hard to tell as I was sat at the top of the large stand on your left, right near the back but whatever the figure over 100 for a dead rubber of a game over 200 miles away is a great effort.

Yeah we were a little subdued, and to be fair we usually have around 200 at your place, so maybe having half the following affected it too. We did try to make a bit of noise especially 2nd half.

By the way, do you usually employ about 50 stewards for 100 fans and try and make them go into half a block of seats, despite little risk of trouble and a massive stand? Seemed really strange (and a bit stupid) to be honest.

Yeah, we mentioned that before the game. Usually away fans who don't bring overly large followings have been put in the corner section which was on your right so maybe they were expecting about 500 of you yesterday. :bg:
