Yeah fair enough the ‘top three thing’ is way to far (and arrogance springs to mind) but we were not in any shape or form up to that, we didn’t win a single battle for the ENTIRE game.

Sorry if I've come across as arrogant, that's not the intention. But I will stand by my belief that our staring eleven and bench is top three.
FWIW Stags are a far better team than Lincoln who have absolutely nothing spare in the locker to go up a gear. They'll need an entire rebuild if they go up,
Stags have some classy players, movement and pace but we just bossed the midfield battle and never let you string anything much together and our strikers pressed and never allowed you to build from the back.

I know Radford is all about getting the Stags in the community and everything but running a “win a place in the team” raffle for such a big game is pushing it a bit far.

I take it that’s how the lad in the no 23 shirt got on the pitch?

Best post of the day competition is over. Quality

Don’t know if it’s the shirt, his hair or whether he’d bulked up but Grant looked slower and fatter than he ever did at Notts

He was definitely a long way off his game today. I thought the comments about him needing protection earlier in the week were a bit odd, especially when Notts didn't really rise to the bait. Put him under a lot of unnecessary pressure.

Doyle did clatter him but apart from that he didn’t need dealing with. Barely touched the ball

Just didn’t look like he fancied it. Not many of them did though to be fair. I thought it was taking the piss though when Ryan Schofield fucked off for a game of pool halfway through the second half and no bogger noticed.

I’m still in shock about the performance quite frankly, I have not known a Mansfield team to not be ready for a ‘battle’ for a good few years now, they seriously let the club and fans down yesterday. Playing poor is fine but not battling, especially on a derby is nearly unforgivable.

Now it’s about bouncing back, are we true promotion candidates? I think so and most on here do too.

A little word on Flitcroft who in my opinion, also was at fault for starting a clearly unfit Ben Turner just to play his system - that’s a howler!!

County wanted it more, Didn’t think we could get worse than last year but we did yesterday. Fair play to Notts but our lot disappointing in every aspect yesterday.

Lee Mason is fucking wank aswell, Blew for everything in Notts favour. Only thing he didn’t do for them was send Turner off after 2 minutes, He should’ve gone.

Oh well onto the next one!

Stags fans getting a taste of what it's been like as a Notts fan. Turning up in numbers only to see your team not bother

To be fair Mason was bad for both teams. As I said earlier, up to 3 stags could have been sent off. Number of fouls by stags alone should have been yellow cards galore...

Notts only fouled 6 times. Poor Staggies really needed that protection. Flitcroft nailed it in his post match interview when he said his own sides spoiling tactics meant they could never get going

I wish he had sent your defender off early and then we could of helped our truly woeful goal difference. Not to mention the later studs up challenge. To make amends he can the hosts everything.

I’m also in shock Conks, Notts fans have seen shocking ‘no effort’ in derby games many times but I’ve not seen it from Stags that I can remember. Obviously delighted as it guaranteed us a much needed 3 points as Mansfield were never really in the game

All it really does is put some added pressure on your next game. Win that and the last two can be forgotten, fail to win and the question marks grow.

As for us, must not lose Tuesday night

Always best to use protection, eh Jorge?

He’ll score a worldie next game in home comforts I’m sure

Yeah I didn't feel that we got a hold of the game at all in midfield. Weak in the challenge and when we did get possession weren't brave enough to hold onto it, which is even more important when you have no big guy to aim at up front. On some days there's no point in clearing it up field to Hamilton and Walker. Pretty sure yesterday when clearing it we'd have been better off booting it as far into their half as we could for a throw in if we couldn'tplay ti short!!

Turner was unfit and MacDonald also looked miles off the pace. Obviously expected for both but not sure it was right for this game.

That's the first I've seen of Jones and unfortunately he seems to be a fair way behind Hayden White.

I’ve just read a few pages on Stagsnet for the first time ever. Before the game I noticed on one thread ultra confidence aplenty, dare I say to the point of arrogance? :ohy:

It was like the excellent Fyre festival documentary funny to watch especially knowing what was to come. But never again, it’s clearly on a par with NCM when it comes to quality.

To be fair White was always going to be a huge miss, he used to cover CB if needed really well and when playing wing back he was a serious attacking threat.

White was essential to our success so I’m not surprised we are missing him.

Even with Mansfield putting in an absolute stinker without Doyle and O’Brien we probably don’t win that game . It appears they’ve changed everything !

To be fair, Ardley seems to have got the tactics right to get the most out of the players. The front 4 seem to switch between a 442 and a 443 / 451. Doyle and O’Brien at least provide the solid base for it

It was an odd referring game tbh.

The yellow early in the game shouldn’t have happened in the first place had he seen the handball by the notts lad, he gets that wrong then giving the yellow is also wrong.

After that we didn’t get anything from him at all, nice to know that an important game in our league is punishment for being shit in a higher league, great.

Not that defends the utter dross that Mansfield served up, white missing was as mentioned going to be hard for us, but the rest of the players were far off the pace - CJ, walker and grant all having a little dual on who could be worse.

4 defeats in 10 and no plan B, it’s getting dodgy for us.

With your very impressive home form you will be fine for promotion. Nobody pulling up trees behind you and all likely to slip up. I doubt your talented 3 will all go missing collectively again. I guess the big match atmosphere and big crowd was too much for them? Or they just didn’t fancy it against our centre mids and centre backs?

Handball decisions get missed, the last man foul is a straight red 9/10 times, you got very lucky there. Then there was one maybe two other potential sending offs. It’s a non story unless we had wrongly dropped points as a result.

We didn’t deserve the 0. It would have been a scandal had we got anything

We were awful and Notts were very good at what they did. It wasn't pretty but is exactly what they need in their current situation. A lot of spoiling tactics, and played the ref to perfection a deserved win for them.
As for Mason, one of the worst refereeing performances I have ever seen. Missed a blatant red card and then gave absolutely everything to Notts after that. With him in charge the first goal was always going to be vital as no team could get any momentum which suited Notts 1 goal lead to perfection. No complaints about the result, more bafflement as to how he has managed at the top level.

Lee Mason has managed to unify our (admittedly second string) rivals in the popular opinion that he’s a useless twat.

Also trying to force allocated seating in a stand with a spare 1,000 seats was ridiculous. I’ve never looked for my exact ticket at a away game and I never will.

Awful referring performance, if he doesn’t make such a huge mistake early the rest probably doesn’t happen. Would love to see his review from the assessor. As previously mentioned it’s a non story if he performs well as he should the result doesn’t change, probably gets worse for Mansfield.

If it’s a sell out and designated seating then I always sit where my ticket says, don’t care what others do but if anyone is in my seat they move. No idea why in a huge stand like that with no pay on the door why you can’t sit anywhere. First come, first served. Always causes unnecessary aggro.

Good news, the hundreds and hundreds of Stags fans in the home ends were very well behaved, unnoticeable and practically invisible :shifty:

Not so sure, other than the red card, I don’t know what he got wrong. CMS is very experienced and great at buying fouls. True to say we got more of the 50/50s but it’s hard to win in this league without getting those.

We’ve had a very naive side for most of this season, but now we haven’t.

As soon as I saw Turner was playing I thought that was a chink in Mansfield's armour. Not played in a few weeks, carrying a calf injury that was meant to have ruled him out - I thought he might struggle with the three who play behind Stead (Boldewijn, Gomis, CMS) running at him or trying to get in behind. I thought Flitcroft might have gone 442 with Grant (didn’t agree with the abuse he got btw, at least Bish got a great reception) wide left drifting in where he was so effective for us, but no. I see he’s getting some right hammer now for sticking to 352.

At the end of the day, I think we caught Mansfield on a good day (for us), on the back of a defeat and with 4/5 out that might normally have played a part, and they caught us on a bad day (for them) with virtually a new (much better than before) side and some real momentum behind us. Virtually any other time this season that’s a solid away win.

Still think Stags have a great chance of going up, and we now have a great chance of staying up. Fine with that.

Shurup ya boring bastard - I couldn’t even get to my seat when I got in the ground.

The referee got absolutely loads wrong too, that’s pretty much a universal opinion, he gave 90% of 50/50 to County to compensate for not sending Turner off.

What do you mean, couldn’t get in your seat? I’ve been in that stand lots of times and lots of other stands and I’ve never not been able to get to my seat if I’ve wanted to.

How come the studs up challenge isn’t getting mentioned? If Turner had been sent off that early, as he should of, then he could of given every minor 50:50 to the away side and it wouldn’t of mattered. Stags got away with it big time on Saturday

Yet none of this matters, for the first time in ages Mansfield didn’t turn up. Yes Notts were impressive but Stags bottled it and had little fight and where was the flowing football?

Never going to be any football played with the game stopping every other minute though. You lot were good at doing what you did. Our big players went into hiding and if ever there was a game when we needed to turn up it was this one.

We need a reaction next week now and get our promotion challenge back on track.

Best of luck retaining your league status, Notts.
