Rodney’s pace is frightening. A couple of times he has chased down and won balls should never have been able to.

Been rather more scrappy second half. Might be tempted to consider Manny on for Burgess on about 70 minutes.

We were on top in the first half, no goals or chances. Second half Grimsby has been well on top and we score our first real spell on the ball - the Walsall way, doing things weird.

60 mins gone, 1-0 down and we look exhausted. Who knew that may happen with no pre-season.

Cullen 2-0 that should be the game for Vale. Easy tap in after Conlon curled one against the post.

Cambridge just got 11 men behind the ball now. Second half has been better for us but it's too little too late as there's no incentive for Cambridge to go forward now.

Frustrating not to win that today, vast majority of the game Mansfield were the better side for me. We didn’t create enough chances though, although Bowery had two solid chances - you’d reckon one of our other strikers probably would have took one of them.

Tranmere didn’t really threaten at all, but they were OK - Khan was disappointing IMO.

Corey O’Keeffe looked a good player today, consistent delivery, taking on players, defending well - Bowery was a handful and I’m glad we have that sort of player but he’s not been clinical enough today.

Draw away at Salford. Will take that. Could have won it but a point isn't bad for our youngsters considering how much Salford have spaffed on players.

2-0 win to start the season for Vale then. Scrappier effort second half but full value for the win especially with our first half efforts.

Lots of positives to take not least the clean sheet and Rodney’s performance. Crawley were pretty ordinary I have to say. Just seemed very listless but we did a good job on them.

Much the better side against tranmere and should have won the game, our fault for being wasteful

Better in terms of having the ball, but too many safe passes. Cambridge’s keeper might as well be sat in the stand.

Credit to Morecambe. We were coasting, gave away a needless penalty (stonewall by the way) and then when chasing the game they've nobbled us on the break.

McAlinden was brilliant for them when he come on. Oddly his best ever performance at Whaddon Road, and he used to be our player.

We looked poor up front when May went off, but there's enough there to keep us positive. One bad result does not a season make, and this Morecambe team are not the Jim Bentley team of recent seasons.

Tranmere average and unambitious away from home but we looked a bit rusty, though the better side for most of the game.. Big improvement on what we saw last season. a point and looking improved already will take that.

Khan just summed up his Mansfield career in 90 minutes, disappears completely.

1 nil win against Grimsby, fair result I'd say but they will be right up there. We should have taken our chances in the second half and they hit the post in added time to almost punish us for our slack finishing.

Comfortable win and pleased by the performance, Cullen took his goals well and Rodney is fast! Very fast! Their right back will be having nightmares about him tonight!

Considering how many we still have to come in with Gibbons, Amoo, McKirdy, Pope it bodes well for us.

Our opening day unbeaten record rolls into its 17th year.

Happy with that. Bolton will improve I reckon so that's a useful three points.

There's no sugarcoating how poor we've been in our first three games of the season. Next weekend against Southend already looks like a relegation six pointer

Well yeah but I think Cambridge sitting back was a factor in that, gaps we could play through were few and far between. Not that we were good enough to find those gaps in any case.

I don't think anyone would accuse you of sugar coating anything ever. I think you would describe a kilo of Tate & Lyle as "underwhelmingly tart".

Good God. Crawley are a horrible side. Literally tried to kick lumps out of us as they couldn't get near us when we played football. Deserved 2-0 win but a little dissapointed we didn't score one or two more. Shows how much strength in depth we have when Pope, Gibbons and McKirdy weren't even in the match day squad today for various reasons.

Solid start with plenty more to come.

We looked ok today but didn't really create much, Ryan Loft scored a great goal though. Got a lot of improving to do but will take a point on the first day.

8th :) Will settle for that at the end of the season. Much better than 5th!
