So from our out of contacts here ;
Lloyd Jones - Would offer something, but think he'll get League 1 interest on a free
Alex Jones - As above
Alan Sheehan - Quality, but spend 2/3rd of the year injured and don't think he'll recover. Release
Steve Arnold - Not able to dislodge an awful keeper. Release
Ryan Watson - Will attract League 1 interest, but would keep if he wanted to stay
Cian Bolger (option) - Release
Mark Marshall - On balance, release as his age is getting in his way
Ricky Korboa (option) - Release

I imagine Harry Smith and Matty Warbuton will be transfer listed.

Leaves us with one Centreback, two fullbacks, three mifielders and two strikers, along with no manager, so another very big rebuilding job again.
Bolger looked like he had a slow start at you guys, did he improve a bit? He'd probably be fine in L2.

Updated thoughts on our players futures;-

I'm expecting all loanees to return to parent clubs;-

Bobby Thomas and Mace Goodridge (Burnley), Tom Davies (Bristol Rovers), Neil Eardley (Burton Albion?), and Daniel Bramall (Barnsley?)
Goodgridge and Bramall had season ending injuries so are back at their clubs already.
Thomas and Goodridge i'd have back on loan next season no problem.
Tom Davies i'd try to sign if he gets released by Bristol Rovers.

Goalkeepers;-
Joel Dixon - depends on the Bolton rumours - will gladly keep him if doesn't leave.
Scott Moloney - never actually seen him play, but he's under 21 so will probably stay
Josh Lillis - don't think he'll play again, but is goalkeeper coach too - so will stay.

Defenders;-
Conner Brown - whole hearted player;- steady but unspectacular, always gives 100% though. 50% chance he stays for next season.
Patrick Brough - the Cumbrian Carlos, 6 goals from LWB and only spent half the season playing there. 100% keep.
Mathew Platt - injured for a few months this season - very promising young CB - 100% keep
Sam Hird - won't play again for us - but assistant manager at present and looks like he's being groomed as a future Barrow manager.
James Jones - another who has been unlucky with injuries - 100% keep, promising player but next season will be a big season for him.
Yoan Zouma - young and probably 90+% chance he will be released.
Scott Wilson - another young CB not played much, but never let the team down, will still be classed as u21 next season - so 90% keep.
Kgosietsile Ntlhe - has got better over the season. 75% keep - but might depend if we can get Davies(?)
Brad Barry - 100% keep, had to fill in in midfield later this season - but probably back at RWB next season.
Dion Donohue - 99% chance won't be here next season

Midfield
Jason Taylor - a big part in our pick up after Jolley left, but will probably go into a player/coach role if we can get a replacement with the same amount of heart.
Callum Gribben - release
Mike Jones - picked up a bad injury early in the season and has been out since - should be like a new signing next season.
Josh Kay - sorry Josh - you know you won't be here next season after last weekend... take some time out, get your head sorted out and learn how to tackle. If you do that there is a good chance you'll play in L2 (or maybe higher eventually) again.
Bobby Burns - broke his leg on loan at Glentoran, but still under contract next season (I think) - never really played for us - but has a good pedigree.
Tom Beadling - under contract already, improved as season went on.
Chris Taylor - played his part this season - but not getting any younger - 90% chance will be released.
Jamie Devitt - already contracted for next season.
Ollie Banks - already contracted for next season.

Strikers
Morgan Penfold - young forward, hardly played and 100% will be released.
Scott Quigley - 2 years left on his contract - no doubt there will be offers for him this summer, but it would take a crazy big offer for us even to consider letting him move, HANDS OFF!
Calvin Andrew - sign him up for next season if we can 100%
Luke James - under contract already
Dmitri Sea - still under 21 - so keep
Courtney Baker Richardson - got injured, never played for us then went out on loan - very unlikely we will keep him i think
Mikael Ndjoli - hardly even made the bench after joining in January - can't see him being kept - will probably join a team near London as he's ex Millwall and Brentford academy player. Would probably be a good fit at Southend as he's quick

so probably need about 10 new players all in all.
Did Eardley come in and play much?

We’ve got a whole heap of shit that need culling. Payne, Twine and Odimayo will be off. Got half a dozen ‘broken’ players who are continually injured. One CB who only plays cos daddy pays his wages. A right rag bag of spanners.
Another L2 Club will pick Payne up, think he's great for the first 10 games or so then realise he runs a lot but doesn't have any tangible contributions to games.

Eardley played most of the matches. positionally good, speed wise not quite so - but used his experience to make up for it.

Nope Bolger was shite and was thankfully dropped for Horsfall and Jones

Us, Bradford and probably Carlisle aswell as others will probably be linked with Andy Cook following his release by Mansfield.

Couldn’t fault Cook’s loan here, worked hard, scored goals, totally eclipsed other January signing Danny Rowe on both fronts.

Given that he'll want £2k+, I can't see us or "lowest budget in the league" Carlisle being able to afford him.

I'm 54 and could work harder on a football pitch than Danny Rowe

O’Keefe will be highly sought after in this division, despite not being played this season, not sure what went off to be honest. Ryan Sweeney was brilliant under Flitcroft but been error prone since, again plenty of L2 interest I’m sure.

7 youth products in the squad next season, sure a few will be loaned out but Law and Sinclair have done really well under Clough, sign of things to come.

We need to finally get our #1 goalie sorted, been a shambles for ages.

Sweeney is from Stoke isn't he? Could maybe see us testing the water on that one. Looks like with Lapslie etc you've got all the big priorities already under contract so that's a good starting point for you guys.

Yeah Stoke, Flitcroft brought him to Mansfield, initially on loan.

Our midfield is pretty much sorted if we sign Quinn, but we need quite a bit of work in defence and upfront, we literally need to sign somebody for every position in defence including 2 new goalkeepers and a minimum two strikers that are better goalscorers than Bowery and Reid. Plenty to do.

Sweeney and Benning could easily end up at Vale, but I imagine they might get some interest from the lower half of L1 too.

Benning is the one that would really interest me. When you came to VP a couple of years ago he was one of those players that just stood out to me as was putting some serious quality into our box though as you say can well imagine will be a fair bit of competition for him.

From what I saw of Mansfield last week the main issue was not being clinical enough up top. I know it's weird to sound almost critical after you whupped us 3-0 but that should have been 6 or 7 given the quality chances you created.

We've not had a good, settled #1 since Marriott, have we? Looking at this (who even keeps records like this on their website btw) most seasons since have been split between two or more keepers getting a decent number of games each. Apart from 17/18 when Conrad Logan played 45 league games. Problem with that though was it was Conrad Logan.

On the plus side, glad we've given Jimmy Knowles another year. Hope he gets a run in the side to show what he can do. It might be that he doesn't do much, but got to give him a chance.

The following players remain in contract for the 2021/22 season:

Liam Roberts
Liam Kinsella
Alfie Bates
Jack Rose
Sam Perry
Rory Holden
Emmanuel Osadebe

The club will be taking up contractual options on:

Tom Leak
Joe Willis

The following Players are out of contract on 30th June and will be offered new contracts:

Dan Scarr
Hayden White

Mat Sadler will continue in his Player/Coach role and former Academy Player, Danny Coogan, will be offered a short-term contract.

The following players will not be offered a new contract when their current deal expires. The club wishes to place on record our thanks and wishes them all the best for the future:

Cameron Norman
James Clarke
Stuart Sinclair
Caolan Lavery
Josh Gordon
Callum Cockerill-Mollett
Wes McDonald
Jack Nolan

Tyreik Wright, Max Melbourne, Derick Osei Yaw, Frank Vincent and Jayden Reid have all formally returned to their parent clubs following loan spells.

Happy with that except for Dan Scarr being offered a new deal. Can expect James Clarke, Josh Gordon and Cameron Norman all to sign for Vale, maybe even Stuart Sinclair if DC really wants to get the band back together (an old tone deaf band that is).

I'd like Benning, especially if we persist with a 3-5-2 having him and Gibbons as full backs would be a great balance.

Bowery and Reid were the only strikers left at the club at the latter stages of the season, both are below par in front of goal, and that’s being nice.

Harry Pritchard the first to leave. Never knew what his best position was and constantly injured. Suspect he'll be back in the national league next season.

We also said we won't be signing any new players until a manager is appointed.

Craig Clay will probably stay on as a squad player - But the other 5 out of contract players offered new deals will almost certainly move on as they're all League One capable, unless the new manager can twist their arms.

I hope we’re in for Danny Johnson. Caused us a lot of problems in both games and would be a good partner for Ironside.

You're closer to the North East of England than we are! If he can get a League One side anywhere near his native Middlesborough he will jump at the chance.

Would love all three to sign contracts, but doubt that will happen...Pollock should. Big year for him.

If Lloyd Jones signs we have a strong base to start with, alongside Horsfall, who formed a decent partnership towards the end. McWilliams and Watson in midfield would again be strong for L2.

Looking forward to hopefully seeing Chuk and Dyche (son of Sean) kick on. Lot of work to do, would take a top half/outside push at the play-offs, if we play decent football coupled with Jon Brady's passion shining through on the players.

How's Jack Sowerby doing? When we had him on loan he seemed far too good to be playing in League Two.
