Is Mark Marshall completely done then? Was obviously a while ago now but when was with us he was brilliant as he was at Bradford too for that matter.

Sowerby hasn't really got going, was tough when Curle was in charge when got bypassed alot. Then got injured...hopefully a full pre-season and we will see the best of him. He doesn't seem like he was ever a forward, so midfield suits him more.

Marshall has shown glimpses of his quality, but he is 34 now so that pace has gone, and doesn't seem to do enough all round. But if there is space for him, to just take on men and put crosses in then he's worth another year.

I thought Lee Novak when fit scored plenty of goals?

Bit of a strange one. I never thought he was more than average personally but because he was the best of a very, very bad bunch of strikers pre Christmas he looked better than he was. And he can't keep fit as you say so the wages are better spent elsewhere.

Rumours are that we are sniffing around Ricky Korboa who has just been released by Northampton.

Don't know much about him but from previous buys from our manager I would say he will be a tippy tappy attacking midfielder.

9 goals from 24 appearances.

For me, he’s a 20 goal a season man if you play to his strengths - and probably most importantly, keep him fit.

The fact that he’s only managed 24 app in 18 months tells you why we haven’t taken that risk.

Wonder if another EFL Club will give Angol one last chance?
In his 2 years with us he had 3 separate hamstring injuries and missed around 9 months being injured. His last appearance for us was at the end of January when he tore his other hamstring this time.

Talented but injury prone and doesn’t work hard enough without the ball.

Anyone who signs him is taking a big risk IMO.

Would’ve kept Woods personally but not gutted he’s gone, he’ll pick up another club with ease. The rest I agree with, O’Connor and Novak will both get signed up by someone in this league no problem. Ismail, wouldn’t touch with a barge pole unless it was an appearance based contract as he’ll play about twice.

What happened to Ajose thought that was a good signing last year?
In short, it’s a mixture of injury, poor attitude and the manager losing trust in him.

There’s talk of him becoming an agent, so he may retire early.

Surprised Exeter have released both Ward and Maxted. Both quality keepers for us.

Unfortunately they went downhill from there!

Ward was good on loan for us when we made the play offs 2 years ago, we tried to sign him after he left Reading apparently but you got him instead. Wonder if we'll go for him again this summer.

I think the fact they were both decent caused a bit of an issue. Taylor didn’t really seem to know who to play as 1st choice and as a result both of their form suffered. Also both had different injuries which hampered things.

I suspect they will both get good offers this summer.

Wasn't even aware forward was a string to his bow... was always CM with us and I think Fleetwood also and looked very natural there. Have you been playing him up front?

Who's still to put out their retained list? I believe we're gonna be doing ours this week, though not sure what the situation is with Omari Patrick. We have an option to extend his contract for a further year but are yet to exercise it. Assuming we haven't decided to release him (because that would be stupid) I'd say it's one of the following:
  • The stuff about him being one of the players we have an option on was misreported, can't remember where I read it think he was just on a list in the News & Star of players we have an option on.
  • He wishes to leave and we're not standing in his way. This isn't unusual for us being so far away from the rest of the country, most seasons we lose at least one player for geographic reasons, but since we paid money for him I can't see us letting him go for a free just 18 months later if we can get money for him.
  • We want to renegotiate the terms of his contract, an extension would be on terms that have already been decided but we may want him to accept a different system of bonuses/incentives etc. or we may want him to sign up for two years instead of just the single year extension.

Crawley haven't put out a retained list yet but there's only about 3 proper first teamers out of contract or without us having an option.

I would expect us to lose a couple of players for small fees though.

Van Veen, Eisa, Karacan and Bedeau confirmed as leaving. Four starters gone and more to go.

Van Veen wanted to stay but we couldn't afford him, he's a club hero but he wasn't good enough anyway last season.

You finished 22nd, why would you want to keep so many of the team? Get rid.

Because we didn't field our strongest 11 once all season, we suffered a mental amount of injuries. There's some very good players we're having to release.

Karacan impressed me when playing against us (Crawley).

I wonder how tied he is to life up north?

Just looked it up. He was born in South London and his father is Turkish...our owner is Turkish.

Now if only he wasn't married to an actress who is based up there for Corrie and Hollyoaks .

Karacan, Gilliead and Van Veen stand out from that lot.
Karacan was a class above, not sure what he will do next. Gilliead will go L1 and who knows what will happen to Van Veen, his legs are gone

Karacan was technically the best player in lge 1 for us 3/4 seasons back.........Trouble you could not get him playing every week.
