I see Matt Elliott has entered the betting. Surely he’d be a proper disaster.

Hope he gets it!

That has come about due to somebody jokingly mentioning him as a possible on our forum.

The big news today is that we have signed the deal on our new training ground which is very positive news.

Keeping abreast of the looming disaster. Funny as fuck you’ve got to admit.

Keeps me awake to get through the shift

If we are still a league above you next season then you're going to have to send a medic or I might just die of laughter.

Karl Robinson all but confirmed now

About the 100th time we've said that about someone since Pep left but it does actually finally look like it's done now

Not my first choice, but got MK out of this division, and is at least young with something to prove, and unlikely to be offered a bigger job as soon as he strings 2 wins together like most of the big names we've been linked with would have

I suppose you lot know KR is a Swindon fan.

‘KARL Robinson is looking forward to seeing a number of old friends when he takes his Franchise side to Swindon tomorrow, saying the town has a “special place” in his heart.

Robinson was on the Robins’ books as a YTS trainee before a serious back injury put paid to his ambitions of making it as a player but he refused to let that blow stop him pursuing a career in football and went on to become one of the youngest managers in Football League history when he was appointed Dons boss in 2010.

He still credits a number of Swindonians for the way they coaxed him through his injury as a teenager and on Friday he’s due to visit the family who put him up during his spell in Wiltshire.

“It has a special place in my heart because it's where I grew up,” he said. “I'm going to meet the family I lived with on Friday, I've not seen them for many years.

“I got signed when I was 15, and I lived here for three years as a YTS and a young professional. But I got injured and didn't play for a long time.

“Some people there really looked after me. For a young boy from Liverpool, not to play football for 13 months was very difficult. But they helped me through it.

“It'll be nice to see them. One of them is my ex-youth team manager's wife, and the people from the digs. It'll be nice because I've still got some of my best friends in Swindon.

“I always enjoy going there. The results haven't been overly favourable, if I'm being honest.

“It's a nice place for me, but it's a difficult place for the club. But regardless of my feelings, they'll have no relevance come 3pm."

Robinson branded Town as “unpredictable” and the County Ground “a tough place to go” but he’s certain his players will be up for the game.

“This is a cup final. What a ding-dong of a game,” he said. “We have put ourselves in a position to go and beat Swindon at the County Ground. It could be our biggest win of the season.

Still, a better choice than some of the names linked.

Well if he is still in charge when we next meet then you'll get beat by one of your own. :cool1:

I'm not wowed by his appointment but then I wasn't by Michael Appleton or any of our managers, apart from Ramon Diaz as it was so random. He will have my support and I will see how it goes just like any new manager*.

*Apart from Steve Evans or Graham Westley as I wouldn't want either anywhere near my club.

No hard feelings, don’t blame him really for jumping before being pushed but certainly not bothered.

Bang average manager and nothing more.

Won’t miss his incessant waffle and excuses and stubbornness to not play anything other than 4-2-3-1.

Has he started on the dream come true and being at a huge club rubbish yet?

As we all know, the manager is only part of it. As far as you’re concerned the main thing, I suppose, is whether your new owner is the real deal or a bad deal.

Time will tell.

Haven't a clue as I haven't seen any interviews apart from the initial Oxford Mail report. He called us a fantastic club and liked the future plans of the club (ie. Training ground and others which weren't specified). Then again, based on other teams' fans comments about his interviews I will generally avoid the interviews anyway.

I don't think we could be a dream job for him if he supports Swindon. :)

Why did you post a massive article that didn't say he was a Swindon fan?

How's Matty Taylor?
Just yanking your chain. TBH, I’ve never quite understood when ex players or managers get grief. They’re only doing a job. (Maybe Beauchump)

Matty Taylor is ace, thank you

Tbf we are at the stage where Swindon employing Oxford fans that actively try to lose a derby will probably not make things any worse for you.

That's his latest interview which seems reasonable. That said they no doubt edited it considerably. :gr:

If Oxford sold us Ledson then they could have afforded a decent manager.

Well, we’ve had a ranting Italian and Lisping Luke who managed to fuck things up on a regular basis. I haven’t checked this, but doesn’t the Orange One have a good record against you lot?

Yes he does. Maybe we will find out if you draw us in the cup some time.

Almost certainly but it's entirely coincidental. Southend could employ an inanimate carbon rod as manager and they'd still turn us over.

He actually came over well on a hour long phone in on Radio Oxford and talked sense (especially compared to Pep).

Tbf, he does come across as a decent bloke. Whether that translates into a decent manager is anyone’s guess.

On Sky he was a bit um, er when asked about possible funds being available.

On the last part, that is just him slipping into the Scouse language. Conversations between him and Ryan Ledson will have the rest of the players non plussed.

He always talks a good game and when things go well it's great, but he got promoted with us with Afobe/Grigg/Lewis Baker/Carl Baker/Alli... five players that at that time would have slotted into any team 13th in the championship and lower. Before that for the play off campaigns he had John Gorman at his side which made the difference.

Which is a big question from me, who is his assistant? The only man other than JG to make a difference while he was here was Ritchie Barker, who was effectively another Karl when it came to him managing us.
